I don’t think I will ever stop listening to this song. It’s been over 6 years listening to Jake now and dragon has remained such an important piece in my life. It helps me relax and also stay motivated at the same time. Thanks Jake
I agree with you on this! I first heard this song in high school as part of an assignment. The video was in an article about ukuleles. I how to listen to it over and over again, not wanting to click the next Arrow to answer the questions about the article. But I had to. I tried to remember the title, but all I could remember was the word dragon. 3 years later, here I am and I found the video. I now have my own ukulele and I'm learning how to play, and once I get all of that down, I'm going to master this song. I'm so glad there are other people who found solace in this song. This is a very well composed piece of wonderfulness, and I'm so happy that I came across this video when I did. I was having a stressful day, and it was honestly what put me at ease.
Jake performed at my home town's 4th of July festivities last summer. I've been a fan for a long time and his performance totally blew me away. Without a doubt, one of the best shows I've ever seen.
What a beautiful location! Kudos to your sound engineer and videographer. You and your team produced a wonderful video that delights the ears, eyes, and spirit.
My Dad was stationed at Schofield when I was 7-9 years old in the late 1970's. Man, what an idyllic childhood. Going to a beach almost EVERY Saturday and Sunday, my 4th grade class field trip was flying on Aloha Airlines to Hawa'ii for a week, walking into the caldera of the most active vent of the most active volcano on Earth... ...and Billy Strings introduced me to this cat. This music sounds like what a Hawaiian music box with a hula girl in a grass skirt standing atop with a ukelele in her hands would sound like when wound up and opened. How magical!
Also here because of Mr. Apostol. Grateful for it! Sidenote: this sounds like something I would have heard / discovered via the Windham Hill label in the 80s.
I grew up in Hawaii. Can you imagine wandering around such beautiful landscape and encountering that wonderful sound. Heavenly Jake, Thank you. JeannieB
The first time I ever saw this video, I was about to graduate high school. Ever since, I've had it locked in my mind and have aspired to play this song one day. I forgot the name of the video but found it again. Nearly three years later, I've finally gotten my life figured out and managed to buy a ukulele! So now I've finally started the journey of learning the uke so I can finally meet my goal of playing this masterpiece!! I can't wait for the day that I'm finally able to play this for my friends.
I got to see him in person last night, I only wanted to hear two songs, this one and gently weeps. I got my wish, he was amazing. What a joy to watch and hear.
He is absolutely very overrated, I know of so many ukulele players that are better and I think deserve more recognition for their technique, creativity, and just plain talent... I wish they got the recognition this guy gets
@@gonikassif8527 Just because he gets more attention than others doesn't mean that he is overrated. I do see what you mean that those other artists that are incredible should get just as much recognition, though!
@@gonikassif8527 ok then name three uke players that are better or at the same lvl at Jake . I agree that others deserve more attention too ,but I don't think he's overrated at all.
Absolutely extraordinary playing and supreme musicianship at the highest level. I’ve been a big fan since I first heard ‘While my Guitar Gently Weeps’ about 14 years ago. I’m a bass player, but I play this for all my students just to show them how wonderful music can be. You are an absolutely beautiful soul, my friend. Thank you so much for this wonderful music.
So glad I stumbled across this super talented musician Love love his stuff This song ROCKS And the background is amazing too Thank you! I’m telling my friends about you 😊
Saw jake last night at the Old Town School of Folk music here in Chicago and he was AMAZING! I first heard of him here on TH-cam some years ago while watching his rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". It was an honor to see him (and his mates) in person. If there was ever an perfect example of someone being born to be a musician, he's it. He plays the ukulele like it's an extention of his body. Bravo, Jake...BRAVO!
I remember seeing Jake perform this song way back in 2013 at The Grand in Wilmington, DE... and I was blown away. This version STILL gave me chills. Absolutely breathtaking. Gorgeous videography, as well. @jake shimabukuro we met briefly before that 2013 show; I had asked if you might play your arrangement of, "Haru Yo Koi" - I'd still LOVE to hear this one live some day! Please come to Virginia Beach, VA!! =D
Jake, I just saw you perform live at Pepperdine last week. This composition of yours moved me to tears. I visualized parasailing over Kauai. Thank you so much! Are you ever going to do a live album? I really love listening to you without all the studio musicians. There is something so heartfelt and intimate about your playing with only your own chords to back you up when you riff.
Wow, Wow, WoW ! So Much feeling and Bad Ass-ness in Jake, A Force to be reckoned with for sure. The sounds of a Delicate rainy mist before the Hurricane. I definitely hooked on you, Master Jake. Will be learning my Ukulele's longer and harder. Thanks to you, Master J. = )
Just saw this bloke on spicks and specks so this is the first video Ive seen so far. Bloody awesome. Makes you dream to be able to do just that! You Can't teach/learn how to do that! Nice one man!
I have been following you since you first release that video playing while my guitar gently weeps, your talent has developed into a true great musician. Aloha brother.
You effortlessly made that thing sound like Santana's electric guitar, wow! It is inspiring to see what a man can do with a Ukulele. Thanks for sharing, Jake! Blessings to you and yours
@@robertschmitz8781 oh okay got ya. No, I know it was looped. Regardless, his ukulele playing is phenomenal and the tone is awesome. Well thanks for the compliment, I try my best!
Russ Tyndall yeah you'r right.. maybe I'm just sad about this world.. maybe I woud give more to those great people than capitalism... I will share, once again... but one day, we will leave in a world who citizen will know how to lead a country and therefore the importance of artists.

THIS never gets old.
This is one of the best performer in our lifetime and probably the best ukulele player /compositor.
Speaks to your soul.

If he wasn't so humble and soft spoken, there would be very little discussion. He's been the best for a long time, if you know anything about him.
One of the only players that doesn’t just play simple chord progressions. He actually utilizes the different ways you can play it.
There's a lot of phenomenal musicians in Hawai'i that get overlooked
The man is incredible...thank you Jake..
Just incredible. Thank you to share your passion and your love with your uke ♥️
Jake thank you for sharing this wonderful music bro. Just what we need during these difficult times.
I dont get the lack of views and likes. This was fantastic. He gave a few nods to some great guitarists and just created an awesome song.
My local record store just got "Travels" in, and I so had to look you up. This is the first video that I watched. Love it! 🏆
I can hear the passion flowing through the sound ,energizing me. Sir , you are an inspiration !

That was dubbed over his uke
@@robertschmitz8781, yes, the solo was was looped over his uke rhythm. Is that what you're trying to say?

Wow just wow, mahalo from the mainland, loved every note of that.
