I love the so very Toreador observations of the Banu Haqim. The Banu Haqim's closest allies, despite being bound by marriage, can't help but despair over how dull the Judges can be. "He's the best assassin i know. I just wish the man could hold a conversation" Brilliant.
my first entry of the series was the 2004 Vampire the Masquarade Bloodlines, and caught glimpses of the Tabletop RPG in a book store, the new VR game where you play as a Banu Haqim, is my first time really seeing what the clan is about, I am watching this for more info the game may or may not reveal
Would love to see more lore on Ur Shulgi, dude is a monster, nothing like shrugging off a decades old curse like scratching your balls enjoying your morning coffee
Ah, the wise and misunderstood children of Haqim. I made a few friends among the Banu Haqim during my travels in the holy land. They welcomed me with open arms, not knowing my purpose was to uncover secrets they deemed blasphemous. Needless to say, I was forced to leave soon after my mission was done, but until then they were nothing but hospitable and just. Much of the honor I pride myself on displaying I learned from their ways, and the assassins that occasionally appear at my door to dispense their brand of justice make for excellent practice to ensure I never get complacent. A useful and loyal clan, though at times a bit misguided. I should get me one, show it the right path. I have oh so many enemies who need to be taken down a peg or three...
Oh, they do tend to see themselves as Judge, Jury and Executioner. And in many cases, that is a frightening prospect. But I remember, quite fondly, the first time a group of them found their way into our midst. At a Gather, no less. One has to admire the audacity. What followed was a rather hilarious attempt on their side to command respect and make demands, and a stern reminder of why you *really* should not show up at a Gather if you are not of Gangrel blood. Ah, those were the good old days.
Took a quiz a while ago that... might have been from an official source? That said the Clan I would fit best in is the Banu Haqim, and after an initial look through the lore of the clan, I would have to agree. It's a fascinating Clan overall and I very much enjoyed this take
I'm sure Kevin's favorite anime are all Vampire anime. Vampire Hunter D, Hellsing, Blood: The Last Vampire, Trinity Blood etc... However because of his full name. I'm sure he's a fan of FMA (only FMA fans will understand why especially if they watch it in Japanese) Kevin also reminds me of the Vampire protagonist from Blood Lad.
No shade to our elders but that female visual from the cover is not of Middle Eastern decent that’s a Slavic costume through and through😅 Just a bit goth in colouring, Caucasus Dagestani style hair covering at the south most and typical Russian peasant hair covering pre WW2 in general.
Nice discription! I really like your examples, they show so many possibilities one could go. But on that note, where did you got that Haqqqim is still around?
His last public presence was a few hundred years ago where he had a debate with the methuselah Mithras. In ancient kindred standards that was yesterday. The reason i played with the idea of him still being around is actually a little non-canon since he is active in the non-canon gehenna senarios. But if he entered torpor after this apperance it would be almost impossible for him to wake in time with other antediluvians. (unless you believe some force is controling them all) So unless a 1st or 2nd gen found him and woke him he is most likely just guiding people from the shadows. So its not proven in any way just an idea I liked so ran with And out of all the antediluvians he is probably the only one who wont reshape things in the others absence.
@@theashspawn Thanks for the answer. I think it's a cool perspective, it just confused me. But it also reminded me that an unreliable/not all-knowing narrator is quite a staple in WoD, it also fits the format. I like it
Call them whatever you want, Assamites is Assamites. All this rebranding is a P.R. campaign. You want to get all flowery and be like "No no, they are lovers of history and art. They are both philosopher and business man. Warrior and gardener." They're Assamites. Don't forget it.
there are some parts of World of Darkness that like and some parts that don't make sense to me. So I usually would do my own homebrew and rewrite the established lores that would help unify mythologies and not focus on the Abrahamic ones, add in Hyborian like pre histories of magic and technology from long before the rise of recorded history, mix in some lores from Chronicles of Darkness, and make Cosmic Horror the real danger and threat that is manipulating the World of Darkness. I would rewrite the lore of each clan stating all their progenitors were evil bastards and treasonous. I rewrote that the founder of the Bano Hakim was not a neutral loyal servant of the progenitor, but was just as treacherous as all the others, and Hakim wasn't even his real name but was something the clan gave him over the early centuries. The idea is that Vampires live in lies, and so it would be fitting for each clan to make up BS about their founders to make them sleep during the day. To keep all Kindred ignorant from knowing the truth that they are monsters who devolved into horrendous creatures that are just mere playthings to Lovecraftian entities that are way more powerful than all Antideluvians and the source of all vampire kind combined.
Well most of them actually are myths. As i stated in my Ministry video (that come from Egyptian mythology) and Gangrel video (that come from Germanic mythology) the stories of Cane are "modern" myths used to collectivise kindred. Those two are the only ones we know are lies for certain but others might be too. There is cosmic horror in world of darkness (its mostly mages that deal with that sort of thing) but its not likely to interact with vampires since they focus more so on human religions. But for your own games you can have fun with it, the setting openly invites changes and reinterpretations.
Be wary childe. Keep a keen eye. Snakes often slither close when preparing to strike. Weapons are loyal only to those wielding them. Hakim's justice is a lie. Do not let him forget the shame he buried with it.
Btw Banu haqim means "the sons of the wise" in Arabic
Underestimate the power of Anime at your peril, Honored Elder. ❤
One may put it on par with God, especially in the protection of children.

Brilliant.
Elder Ashspawn is of Clan Ventrue, darling. Nonetheless, as a Toreador myself, I cannot but agree (and despair) on all points.

I can see this being the dialogue for a gameplay trailer for the Banu Haqim class in Bloodlines 2

Kevin here.... IT IS IMPORTANT!
Oh anime. Do you consume it or does it consume you
I'm willing to bet that Kevin watches Trigun. I'd even go so far as to say that he watches it... religiously. See what I did there?
Drink every time Ash says "shall I say..."
I’d die
I'm so stuck with 3th edition that I can't stand the changes made in Vampire 5 tbh.
A lot of not nonsense in 5e to not offend people that are offended by everything
@@eDDyL666 V5 feels a lot like the woke version of VtM
