- My Mother-In-Law has had water in her basement on and off over the years. She finally decided it was time to get it fixed. It was a big job, so that's why it was put off for so long. But now the basement is all fixed up!

Looks like a expensive repair.
It was. That's also why she waited so long to get it done. But now there's the relief that it's taken care of. And also the overwhelm of cleaning and re-organizing! 😄
Thanks for sharing! ❤
☺
I could tell at the beginning you were emotional. When my girls left home I was a mess for awhile and missed them so much. One moved all the way to California (hubby in military), didn’t last, she’s back, lives 20 minutes from me, the other one lives 4 doors away from me!
We went through much the same thing with my Moms basement about 20 years ago, she’s gone now 😥but what an ordeal, she was a collector of anything! It was quite a job but had to be done!
Have a great day!
It's so nice that your girls are close to you now. And what an interesting process of fixing basement walls, hey?! Seeing what all that looked like has prompted me to get going through all our stuff. I hope you are feeling well! ☺
@@jenny_riceI’m coming along, one day at a time 😊, thanks for asking!

Hi Jenny, wow, that is a big drainage, and retaining job but vitally important for the integrity of the foundational walls. The pressure of soil/wet soil against a foundation is tremendous. I, too, have a basement (mine is finished with wall to wall carpet done by previous owners) and I always worry, during rainy seasons that some day, my foundation will begin to crack. My house was built in 2011 and there are no signs at all of any problems, other then the worry Only in my mind!😕 I never liked basements, even as a kid! 🤔 Thank goodness mine is dry, and no cracks on the walls.
I can't even imagine the cost of your MIL basement foundation work!😵💫 But it needed to be fixed, so little by little it will all be done and things arranged as your mother-in-law wants.
Take care Jenny, have a great Tuesday. I will be watching my 4 year old granddaughter today! Nana time!!❤❤❤❤
Yes, it was a big job. And a different kind of big job to now clean up and re-organize. But there's time, so yay! What a great day I'm sure you're having watching your granddaughter. I hope you got some good snuggles! 💜
I can sure understand the feelings you have of your daughters’ getting older and starting to ‘leave the nest’. It’s wonderful that you are so close to them. 💜💜
That is such a huge basement restoration and so nice you’ll be able to help them out in June. Thanks for the update. 😊
Thank you. Yeah, I am blessed that our family all gets along so well and likes to be around each other. I'm so glad the basement project is done. One less thing to worry about. She used to have a huge tree in her side lot and a couple years ago during a big storm a large branch came down on her house. She had that cut down last year so that took away that worry during every storm (that the tree would fall over on her house). Now this is taken care of and the house is in good shape. Just have to work on clean up. Glad we have time. 💜
just be happy.
☺
Great to see you, Jenny! Definitely a super extensive and massive basement repair - definitely tough deciding when to repair such things (can't be held off for too long, else it causes more damage than it should, but it's still a massive job with high costs - definitely gotta juggle the factors)! Glad you got it all fixed, too! Hope you have an amazing week and take care!
Thank you. Yeah it was put off for awhile. I'm glad it's al fixed up now. I hope you have an amazing week also! 💜
You know what’s easier than grass for the space beside the house that used to have plants? Pea gravel! Put down weed fabric first.
That's an interesting idea. I'll pass it along. ☺
