Also, Childish Gambino has the cheeziest lines in the world (They are so ridiculous sometimes, he is the funniest rapper I know as well, puts other rappers down with his puns) and all the shit he is talking about feels and sounds natural. All so often I feel like he is talking, but he is still rapping.
Gambino, Hopsin, A$AP and Jon Connor (PLEASE listen to some of this guy's songs) are my favorite rappers as of now.
MtheW I'll check out Jon Connor. Gambino was a very cheesey rapper but after Camp he changed. It depends who he's rapping with like Same Ol' Story he killed it and Because the Internet is my favorite album of all time

Gambino is a really beautiful person to me. like yeah any 14 year old female fan could say that and call him all types of cute and whatever, but i mean his mind and spirit and attitude toward the world and the people in it. he's a great person to look up to. I really love the way he thinks and the way he works and gets his ideas and the end product of those ideas. it's all amazing to me how talented he is and how many things he can just produce with no structure or guideline. He's one of my favorite non-everyday people. Appreciate this guy, people. He's smart about life.

I know the title and all, but I really was interested in how he talked about not making albums. I have to agree with him, in a way. He's such a talented artist, and it wouldn't serve him right to throw together half-thought-out songs on records and call it a day. He wants to create worlds and whole ideas through his music, almost like an audible painting, and I really find that bold of him to do.

He seems like he's struggling in his interviews. Still trying to find himself. And he also mentions this at times within his songs. This is the definition of someone who's real.
They admit that they don't know who they are. He's quite talented the way he sings sounding like a million different artists but yet has a collage feel as an artist. Music seems to be his calm in within a storm of continuous bias and judgement.
I do think he's living in a dangerous world where he's being watched every step of the way and he could break anytime soon. Human Beings inherently sometimes seem to not handle pressure well when it becomes a boiling point.

I watched this video twice and counted that Childish Gambino said the word "like" *exactly 70 times*, during this interview.
Gambino doesn't fit the archetype of most rappers that get radio play and because of that, he gets all this hate and all this shit for it. Rap and Hip Hop become less about the culture, built on being on the outside and going through hardships to trivial bullshit about how a raper is too soft, or that his songs don't have a crazy beat. Being the best in the game is still widely and arguably the most apparent thing in Hip Hop now while the actual culture is being lost or at lease being hugely misinterpreted. Being better than someone else takes precedence over what you actually put out. Being better is definitely important and should be taken seriously but when it over shadows everything else it takes away from what Hip Hop is.

When I think of Albums, Man on the Moon 1&2 come to mind. Those albums take you on a trip from start to finish. I get the same vibe from Yeezus and Watching Movies With The Sound Off. They have a distinct sound that separates them from the average rappers. Gambino is an artist. The average nigga can't understand artist which is why they get called weird or crazy all the time.

I think the word "like" is a symptom of insecurity, and "I think" is also. Like and I think imply uncertainty. He's try to say he is uncertain of the answers he's giving to her questions. I think it's more real, because the things he was talking about are ambiguous. Meaning behind songs and creativity in general are open to interpretations, and Glover uses the words like and I think to imply that just because he thinks in a certain way, there are more answers out there that he is open to. He seems like a humble guy.

the crazy thing people who are fans of people dont understand is..why people are fans of people. maybe to you kanye is meh whatevs, but kanye is the definintion of do and say what you want. kanye lives how he wants, and when he puts out music, its sometimes hard to just classify it as one genre. my friend told me yeezus is ahead of its time, and i laughed that comment off, because i didnt like the album, compared to j coles born sinner album, but its been barely a year or so..and...i havent listened to born sinner in a while, in months. meanwhile im picking up on hidden contexts in yeezus songs, im in awe in a lot of kanyes videos, and truth be told..kanye is unique in a lot of aspects. just like how Kendrick cited wayne as a influence, i am not surprised at all that gambino cited kanye. if we're lucky, these 2 amongst countless others, can bring true definintion to a genre of music that sometimes struggles to be deep, but at times is deeper and 1000000x more intelligent then any other genre
