- In an effort to be unbiased during this presidential race, Chelsea invited the controversial Ann Coulter to the show to discuss her new book, In Trump We Trust. Unfortunately on the morning of her appearance, Ann emailed in sick. Luckily enough her body double (Fortune Feimster) was available to join Chelsea in-studio for the highly anticipated interview.

If liberals wanted to plant someone on the right to make the right look really bad, Ann Coulter would be that someone. As a conservative, I find Coulter to be unbearably awful with her views. I wonder sometimes if she really believes what she says or if she's just being controversial to get attention and sell her books. This might surprise a lot of people: but REAL conservatism is not so bigoted and verbally abusive.

I think a big problem is that the Republican party is confused as being the party of conservatives. While there are somewhat conservative people amongst the Republicans, a lot of them have surprisingly liberal ideas, just the other side of the liberal coin from most Democrats. If you need proof of that, just look at the huge attack on freedom that George W. Bush enacted with the so-called Patriot Act.
True conservatives believe in the Constitution as the founding fathers intended. We believe that the federal government should not be involved in the personal affairs of individuals, that it's main purpose is to "glue" our nation's states together under the Constitution and defend our citizens from outside danger.
We believe in true justice and liberty for all. Essentially the rule is that you as a consenting adult should be allowed to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. It's not up to the government, for example, to make a law establishing gay marriage because such a thing should be legal by default. If you want to smoke marijuana or use harmful drugs, that's really up to you if you do that in the privacy of your own home and don't harm anyone else. It's not up to government to intervene and try to save you with their many programs.
We don't believe in getting involved in the affairs of other countries, since it's not our job to police the world. And let's face it, the U.S. needs a lot of attention placed on fixing the economy. We believe in freedom of religion, which means that people can worship (or not worship) in the way they see fit, but no laws would be based on any religious book, since that would be a way of imposing religious views on others.
Really, I could write many more paragraphs on this. The best thing you can do if you really want to know the answer is to study the American Constitution, keeping in mind that it is laying out the exclusive powers of government. In other words, the government is supposed to do no more than what it says.

In a sense, I agree with you. The founding fathers were technically liberal. The problem with much of modern conservatism (as it has been for a very long time) is that it is hijacked by "Christians" who believe the first amendment applies only to them. They love America only when it benefits them and discriminates against other religions, especially Islam.
Mike Pence pretty much said in the debate tonight that he believes in pushing his Christian moral code on others, and that's wrong. That's why we need separation of church and state.
On the issue of gay marriage, for example, is there really a valid legal reason why gay folks shouldn't be married? The only objection seems to stem from religious ideas; but laws should not be based on one religion or another because that intrudes on others' freedom of religion.
Even though I hate Hillary, I have to agree with Tim Kaine on his abortion stance. Because it is a complicated issue that the government (or anyone) apparently can't figure out, it should be up to the individual to decide on such an issue. Now, I'm all for personal responsibility, and I think the act of engaging in sex is an acceptance of the consequences of that act, i.e. the creation of a life. Abortion, to me, on a grander scale promotes a culture or irresponsibility and it creates a situation where a woman has to chose whether she should kill the life inside of her due to mere inconvenience. My idea is we should focus more on preventing unwanted pregnancies than dealing with what happens after.
But I went off topic and could go on for a while.

Now that Coulter is practically banned from all mainstream television I would have expected her to drag herself to a hostile interview even if she was on her deathbed. She was sick when she did her interview with Jorge Ramos last year. And I'm sure she knew what she was getting into with the Comedy Central roast. So it's disappointing that she didn't show.
Maybe she knew what was coming to her...Chelsea would've fucking murdered the shit out of her and Coulter would've looked hella dumb, so she probably didn't want to take that risk..
I have no doubt that Handler would have resorted to the same tactics that the comedians (so-called) at the roast used (that is, shrill and unfunny abuse), but Coulter is never shy about going where she's disliked. And on the issues (trade and immigration, especially) she is formidable. So if Coulter called in sick the simplest explanation is that she was.
