dont know if anyone gives a shit but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch all of the latest series on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf during the lockdown :)
Very nicely produced video - content, angles and edits. Your question about the difference between the Japanese EMI issues of about 10 years ago and the current editions is fairly easily explained. The Japanese RCA LPs were based on the US supplied original artwork, and the EMI reproductions were based on those Japanese RCA covers and made to resemble the UK LP covers. Overlooked was the colour difference between the US and UK covers. The Japanese RCA LP did not have a sticker on the rear, and, as they were replicating the UK covers, the UK sticker was replicated. The differences you note - shades of grey on "Heroes", colour of Lodger sleeve and positioning of information on the sleeve - can all be seen when comparing US and UK RCA original LP covers. In each event the UK branch slightly modified the artwork to accommodate UK detail. The replication of the UK fan club inserts (with the varying catalogue fonts) is a nice touch.
Looking back on this set more than a year later, and having gotten the Loving the Alien box set last Christmas, I'm glad that the problems with "Heroes" were just a fluke. I just wonder now why Parlophone haven't reissued this box set with the fixed remaster already in place.
Yeah, but unless you turn the volume WAY down, these CD's will cause distortion (or blow your speakers). I'd rather have a low sound that I can crank up, than a loud sound that I'm forced to turn down. And what about the now infamous volume drop in the middle of the track "Heroes"? What the hell were they doing? The volume level drops from screaming level to what it all should've been like for just the one song. I do like the new Visconti mix of Lodger, though. Even if that, too, is too loud.
Late response, but the CD version was affected as well, meaning that buyers of the CD version of the boxset had to get replacement discs from Parlophone as well. I believe the individual jewel case release of the remastered "Heroes" CD also contains the fixed remaster used for the replacement discs.
Paul never mentioned the horrible sound quality of these box set. After reading many comments from everywhere about the lousy sound quality, I cancelled my order today from amazon uk. Pity.
My vinyl box sounds brilliant, esp. the new mix of Lodger. I love the sound on Stage, and Low. Heroes sounds fine (except for the slight volume up and down for a few seconds that has everyone online falling to bits). It's a great sounding set, as far as I'm concerned, improving on the dynamics of the past couple eras of reissues.
The "horrible sound quality" means one tiny volume change on the song "Heroes". By the way the rest of the album sounds fine and the new remasters of Lodger and Low are the best sounding versions I've heard. Scary Monsters sounds the same as the 1999 version. Not bad anyway.
Best unboxing video I've ever seen, no useless information and dull talking
Thank you. Great compliment.
You should work for work for NASA, you could sell the moon. I'm going to buy this box set right now😃👍

Best site for reviews. Excellent - thank you
yes, Paul: it would make far more sense to have a Baal EP that had been released as opposed to a 3 language ''Heroes'' one that hadn't...
not sure if i'd regret going for the cd rather than the vinyl box set. this is a nicely presented set either way.
Quality review! Looking forward to the next Bowie box set... should be announced anytime soon - last 2 announced on third Wednesday of July...
Enjoyed your video and great website- keep uo the good work!
The new look of the Heroes album derives from how it looks on The Next Day, and i prefer it as it looks sharper imo.

Paul why is the sound only coming out of one channel?
Luke Spade why worry about it
something to do with my digital recorder/mic which I've yet to sort out. But will address!
its a great collection . luv it . warts and all
yeah Scarry monsters definitely bowies revolver and magnus opus
These are probably the LOUDEST CD's I've ever heard. WTF?

Yeah, I would like it to line up with the level of the other boxes.
Do you have videos for the other 3 box sets?
No :(
@@sevasti_ sad, I really like his unboxing videos
I want it on cassette tape
it's impossible to watch this video in headphones...
Did you already send it back because of the audio? They should get conscious about the issue.
