Just started this book, but it seems to excellent so far. One thing I noticed, there seems to be more weapons among this group of middle aged office workers than the average gang banger. Very true. Electromagnetic Pulse is a known fact. We could actually have a global WWIII event involving Nuclear ICBMs detonated in the upper atmosphere and the end result would be little if any immediate physical destruction…However the entire “civilized” world would be literally “Bombed” back to a pioneer existence. Oh, millions would perish and after effects would include aircraft everywhere falling out of the sky. Rebuilding would take decades and chaos would be rampant
Fantastic. Perfect mix of “no!!!” and “I knew they’d make it through this one”. Apparently I should have paced myself. Knocked this out in two days on my work commute and now I’m stuck waiting. Lol.
Stories like these make me want to reevaluate my SHTF supplies. General consensus is that most people won't die from violence, it will be from dehydration due to diarrhea from unpurified water.
When siphoning needed fuel & the can fills before the donor tank is empty, put your thumb on the can end of the hose to stop the flow & keep the hose pointed down. That way you can drain the can into your tank & refill it without having to siphon again. If it’s a SHTF scenario, may as well take whatever’s there because you don’t know when or if you’ll get another chance.

I now have listened to about 20 different audio books all because of your storytelling. Thank you for that joy you have brought into my life
What I find a bit unrealistic, a problem with almost every post apocalyptic story tho, is that every time almost instantly after _"the event"_ happens everyone goes Mad Max... I mean, it's true that man is only 3 warm meals and a hot shower away from its baser instincts but I doubt that within the first few days, maybe even a week, sh*t would hit the fan. Humans are way to complaicent for that, even criminals.
Wow, this was an excellent book! I read a lot of apocalyptic horror/survival books and most lack the level of detail and common sense this one had. Can’t wait to dig into book two.
5 minutes later You tube hits this book with another ad. You Tube informs us that we can Pay them to be free from them ever increasing barrage of annoying advertisements.
Christine, I like this book and may go on the listen to all of the series. I too am a writer and can see where you are coming from. If I may offer some insights First I have lived and fought in Iraq, a quite post apocalyptical place if there is one and I am am an electrical engineer. Issues from the book: Not all of the phones would be dead/fried, none of course would work as the electrical grid and the cell towers would be fried. Not all of the people would be nuts at first, there is what is called the normalcy bias, you assume that everything is fine until you get your nose rubbed in the poop, then the new normal will kick in, so initially people will refuse to see reason. Some people like the homeless are already nuts, so no change there. The lack of cops who are totally dependent on automobiles and radios, they would be out of commission initially. Now what happens after day two, the weird stuff begins to happen. I guess I will have to read
Now if only we found a way to strap EMPs to Zombies!!! But in all seriousness THIS is absolutely on point! I absolutely love the realistic ideas of "maybe it's a small power outage and will turn back on in a few hrs" meanwhile others are in pure panic mode! This is definitely a trumpet to prepare for the possibility of SHTF!!
These E.M.P. stories always forget one thing. An EMP Strong enough to kill the power in buildings, cars, phones, and most other things. It doesn't just make them stop. It works is an electromagnetic wave goes out and friees all of those electronics that means it overloads them. That means the wires get hot and melt. That means the city would be on fire.
Great book so far! I wish they were on Audible so I could listen without ads. I limit myself to one subscription service at a time so subscribing to TH-cam isn’t an option for me. I’m sure the ads will throw off the average listener. I don’t remember your other books having ads after every chapter. I know you need to get that bag though it’s not your fault as much as the system we live in. I wish life was more like this book. I’d rather fight for survival than fight to keep up with the joneses ahah. I’d use a credit to listen on audible (if not part of audible monthly), and depending on the price just pay for it. I like the story, but the characters needs to understand if it’s an apocalyptic situation and you’re seeing people get shot and murdered in front of you on your way to your destination especially trying to get a hold to your kids. You have to have that type of mindset that you’ll do anything to make it to your family and loved ones, so please, for the next story give these people some balls, this moral compass about worrying about how somebody’s gonna look at you for taking a life in the process of saving a life
The beginning of this book reminds me of an old Joe Rogan bit.. 😅 about how all the smart people die because no one mates with them and the rest of us idiots only notice when the lights go out ✨😭
Intelligence isn’t inherited in such a straightforward way, but a surprising number of people seem to think it is. With a few exceptions, two people of average intelligence who have four kids are statistically likely to have one who’s a bit thick, one who’s smart and two who are average. And two dumb people are also likely to have one kid in four who is smart. I actually had an aunt and uncle who met in special school. Both were just assessed as generally low intelligence. They had three daughters: the eldest, scholastically average but a shrewd smart, practical thinker. The second also scholastically average, but one of those almost militantly ignorant types. The youngest was very smart in every way.
I absolutely loved listening to your Pandemic series! I am on Chapter 12 of this series and I really like it the only problem is I've already seen 12 ads so an ad for every chapter? I listen while I'm doing things and that many stops and starts makes it to choppy for me. I hope everyone else enjoys it, maybe I'll try again someday.

Seldom does one come across a well written and inspirational/positive audio novel and narrated so well by the author as well. Most narrators have to either edit their audio with an app (like audacity) or work with another narrator to differentiate between the male and female characters. Despite using your own natural voice, you where able to convey clearly who was who (Alex,Jason, Melissa, etc.) through simple voice inflections without disrupting the thought process of the listener. I wish I was as talented as you =) Thus, liked, subbed and ready to listen to more. Thank You!

From experience, I can tell you, 4:51:04 that you never want to run and older diesel engine with a fuel distributor completely out of fuel. You will have to recalibrate the firing sequence of the engine. 8 cylinders means 16 tubes, prep accordingly friend.
Problem with this is that no one would know what had happened. There would be huge levels of confusion and people working to crossed purposes. You might think an EMP fit the bill but you would not know. As we saw during Covid most people rely on others to tell that what to believe, what to do and where to go.

Isn't that the truth !!!
I CANNOT tell you how FAR UP MY STREET this is!!!! You are a FANTASTIC writer!!!! I've been completely gripped for hours! Bloody marvellous work! Xxx
Thank you so much!
This is awesome! Nuclear war and emp doom are my favorite! Probably the scariest due to it’s looming reality.
Exactly! Let's hope an EMP never happens. 🤞
Rme
Putin.
I’m so excited to hear a book narrated by the author
Christine I found your Pandemic books by accident, love you writing style and narration choices!!
Fantastic. Perfect mix of “no!!!” and “I knew they’d make it through this one”. Apparently I should have paced myself. Knocked this out in two days on my work commute and now I’m stuck waiting. Lol.
😂 I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for listening.
Came straight from the Pandemic Series to this one. Thoroughly excited.
Stories like these make me want to reevaluate my SHTF supplies. General consensus is that most people won't die from violence, it will be from dehydration due to diarrhea from unpurified water.
I have listened to the pandemic series twice this year. You are an amazing writer. Can’t wait to listen to the next book!!!!!
Thank you!
Is this her normal narrator? I want to listen, but sounds so robotic- does it get better. I really like this book topic, so???
@@robinpattee8657 rude, it's not that bad
@@dl2415 Yes, it really is.
Sounds good to me, may have been an audio thing.
Like this book but my only thing is he keep worrying about his wife when he need to be worried about where his three children are and if they're safe
Very well done. Kinda like a primer on whats inevitable. But God is always with every one of us. And nobody REALLY dies...word.
YAYYYYY!!!! The new book already!!! But I'm in the middle of The Sicilian, what shall I do??? Well, that one will just have to wait 'cause I can't resist this one after listening to the first few chapters yesterday, I'm already totally hooked!!! 😁😁
I love that! I hope you enjoy it 😊
I am with you, I am in the middle of A Time for Mercy. I put that on the virtual shelf, I will finish it after this one.
Just do what I do. Read three or four books at once. One for few hours then switch. I'm reading five right now. This one is really good so far.
Woohoo been waiting patiently for this. Thanks dear starting now 😊
Hope you like it!
You are a fabulous writer! I want to really reiterate that, the writing, characters, & story line are top notch; probably in my top 3 favorite books/series. I love audiobooks, they keep me sane! However, it is MY opinion, you should have someone else narrate them. I listened to another of your books w/ a different narrator & it was incredible.
I thought she did a fine job.
@@brendakorneder4228 as I said in my opinion & precisely why I wanted to make sure she knows how much I respect her as a writer. Not everyone can do everything. I would never try to write a book because I know it is not my talent.
I don't know why, I too prefer a male narrator.
I am enjoying this story.
It's lovely to be read to.
Many thanks for all your hard work.
The guys sound like very feminine men even though they are quite tuff.
Since I read one of your other series, and absolutely loved it, I have been waiting for this to come out on TH-cam! I kept checking back every so often, and just realized right now that you uploaded it two whole months ago. I must have checked back on your page within maybe a week before you uploaded them lol. But I am just so glad they're out now. Your writing is truly amazing. You have such a gift. The way you feel like you really know the characters. Like they're real people. Your story lines are great. They get you thinking. You go through a whole wide range of emotions. You are one of my favorite authors ever. Okay, enough of me rambling lol. I've got to start listening to this!
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comments! I'm glad you checked back and found that this series is now available. Enjoy!
Gah! Me listening to Ch 9, wondering why Alex didn’t just _ride_ the bike to Cassie’s and sit Cassie on the handlebars like back in the day?! Lol😄🙈🚲 Oh well, they made it!! Enjoying this so so much already!! Great job, Christine! Thank you!!!!!
😂 I didn't think of that. Thank you for listening!
Did anyone think about the kids and the need for supplies that they need. She's a grown woman she can take care of herself
Most women can not look after themselves - that is why they need male police, male firefighters, male farmers, male oil drillers, male truck drivers, male electrical engineers, male sanitation workers, male pilots, male computer technicians etc to make their world comfortable and safe.
I like how she put in the info about the carrington event, it’s a pretty scary thing to think about happening in todays world
I only discovered your audio books about a week ago and I’m already on the last series for now. You really capture my attention
Thank you so much!
Very good! I like the fact that you presented a real life scenario and the characters were depicted as ordinary people put into an extra ordinary situation. Looking forward to more in the series! Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Christine, thank you SO much for sharing your books with us. It’s so generous of you. I love the detail that you go into.
Thank you so much!
This my second time listening to this book. I love this story. I was on pins and needles just waiting just to hear more. Thank you Christine for such a wonderful story. You are so amazing.
Can’t wait to see what’s next in this series!
For me nothing is as good as an actual book but these audio books are great - enjoying this set of audio books heaps thank you
I love your books, and I'm thankful you offer them here with narration. Audiobooks are appreciated by many.
You’re welcome! Thank you for listening!
EEK! I am no longer sleepy trying to get through my work day. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
So good!! Love that the author narrates this. 💜
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! Thank you for listening!
@@ChristineKerseyBooks thank you for making this series available for us! Theyre great & is definitely something that could happen. I'm starting book 3 now. 😁❤️
Damn it Christine I don't know if I can listen to another one of your books they get me so emotionally invested. You're such a great writer and storyteller. I feel like I am in the story. My heart starts to pound harder and I get anxiety.
After Pandemic and Dare to Resist I just don't know if my poor little heart can take another one. I'm only 10 minutes into it and I'm hooked.
You are definitely my favorite author. Much love keep them coming.
Also I want to say I was never much of an audiobook listener never cared for storytelling in book format, but because of your book of Pandemic it got me hooked to listen to audio books. I now have listened to about 20 different audio books all because of your storytelling.
Thank you for that joy you have brought into my life
😂 😂 I'm so glad I got you hooked! Thank you for listening 😊
Good book. It's the most super sweet post-apocalyptic book ever written.
😂😂 I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
It’s good!
Ikr? You might also enjoy Mark Goodwin's "7 cows, ugly and guant" series.
Excellent story! Thanks for making it available free
Love love love can’t wait for more, you’ve done an amazing job and I love listening to you tell us the stories you’ve created
Thank you so much!!
Maybe. We don’t know until it happens
Just a tip, on a minor wound like the boy got in his leg when shot, pour some honey on it (real, raw, unfiltered honey). Has antibiotic properties
Sugar would work too , that’s what we used in Vietnam back in the day .
@@HuyTran-uu7csThank you
Wow, this was an excellent book! I read a lot of apocalyptic horror/survival books and most lack the level of detail and common sense this one had. Can’t wait to dig into book two.
Thank you so much!
Wonderful story teller. For sure.
She makes it relevant to our time line.
Been looking for this took me back to the one second after series. Thank you
Good listen so far. I do think Alex was wrong for not taking care of the man that shot his boy though. People like that do not deserve second chances.
It was tempting, but so early in the apocalypse I wanted him to show some restraint. Especially since the man was unarmed at that point.
Yes. I’m recording book 2 now. I just finished writing the fourth book. There will be at least 6 in this series.
@@ChristineKerseyBooks from the man pointed the gun shoot him

You're very welcome! Thank you for listening!
Thank You Thank You Thank You!! Been waiting for a new book Soooo Excited to listen. Love your work!!! Please keep them coming :) :)
Thank you so much!
Can't wait for part 2. Love your books.
Thank you!
NOT necessarily. IN certain instances, sure. But small electronics, no.
With love, appreciation and thanks
Wow! Thank you so much! I really appreciate your support!
Fantastic book! Thanks for the narration!
Sorry not trying to complain as much as give constructive criticism. You gotta do what you gotta do.
I understand. I actually just started a Patreon, and there's a $5 tier that has all of my books ad-free. Well, except the Parallel World series. I'll put that up once I finish redoing the first book (I went too fast in the narration the first time). I haven't advertised the Patreon yet, but if you want to check it out, here's the link. I was waiting to tell people about it until the 1st, as Patreon charges people on the 1st of the month and I'd rather people get a whole month's worth of access for their money.

I prefer reading too. All my books are available on Amazon as ebooks and in paperback.
It actually is still an option.
I’m actually not sure. The ads pay based on views, so I don’t know how much I get if someone listens to an entire audiobook.
@@ChristineKerseyBooksThe advertisement just gives a person a chance to go to the bathroom or grab a snack. Even stretch a little bit. If there sitting ina chair listening
Loving this. So well written.
Is this Type of event not in our near future? The problems In this great book would be Childs play , to the eventual reality; Most are unable to see the inevitable realities. Those whom can ...They prepare....and blend in...Huge thumbs up from Utah County..
Awesome. So much better than listening to the ones that have AI doing the reading. Love it.
Wow
I'm a fan. Written really well and Easy to visualize.
And courageous enough to do your own narration.
Great job.
Thank you so much!
Please keep up the good work! Excellent read with moral and ethical values.
I like the story, but the characters needs to understand if it’s an apocalyptic situation and you’re seeing people get shot and murdered in front of you on your way to your destination especially trying to get a hold to your kids. You have to have that type of mindset that you’ll do anything to make it to your family and loved ones, so please, for the next story give these people some balls, this moral compass about worrying about how somebody’s gonna look at you for taking a life in the process of saving a life
I know I was thinking the same thing. They stopped and helped way too many people before getting back to their kids
Indeed, I almost quit several times over this reason.
Not accurate!
Fantastic job! Very excited for the next book and hopefully a few more in the series😊 so grateful I ran across your channel
Thank you! There will be many books in this series. The first 4 are written, but there will be more.
Excellent writing and narration. Thank you for sharing another wonderful audiobook.
Thank you so much!
I addressed this in this video: th-cam.com/video/UGRsvYpMW5g/w-d-xo.html

Really love your books. Great research on the EMP first few weeks and how fast society falls apart. I like the fact the rape and carnage are mentioned but not too graphic. Can't wait to listen to the science fiction stories.
I have these books. Really enjoyed them. Will listen to the audio again. Thanks for posting.

@@ChristineKerseyBooks You're Welcome
Seldom does one come across a well written and inspirational/positive audio novel and narrated so well by the author as well. Most narrators have to either edit their audio with an app (like audacity) or work with another narrator to differentiate between the male and female characters. Despite using your own natural voice, you where able to convey clearly who was who (Alex,Jason, Melissa, etc.) through simple voice inflections without disrupting the thought process of the listener. I wish I was as talented as you =) Thus, liked, subbed and ready to listen to more. Thank You!
Thank you so much!
The opening lines are so relatable. I would totally think the same. Great story!
Thank you!
This was Awesome! Thanks... I look forward to more! 😃

Christine, I really enjoyed the book. Being from Salt Lake (Logan now), and also a prepper, I found it very relate-able. I could visually imagine the areas the groups were traversing through. Looking forward to book 2
😂 yes, it's always fun to know a place a book is talking about. Thanks for listening!
After getting used to your narration, which took a couple of chapters, I found this story intriguing. Thanks.
I'm trying to get used to it. Pandemic narration was great but this sounds more Al than actual Al. Hard to follow when everyone sounds the same😢
From experience, I can tell you, 4:51:04 that you never want to run and older diesel engine with a fuel distributor completely out of fuel.
I've listened to a few audio books on youtube but lost interest part way thru, but this one had me hooked❤, love the story so far and so close to what could become reality not too far in the future the way things are going, really looking forward to book 2 😀 x
