If a city let's the Mayor do what he did..not show up for 2 years worth of meetings then everyone needs to be fired and the so called Mayor needs to be held accountable to repay the city for his absence.

Yes, would there be a process available to remove the mayor for a long term unexplained absence? The others should have raised red flags about the long absence.

Because the other members accepted his absence without objection . Dont think for 1 min. it did not benefit them also. They ran the city with no objections of the Mayor. The Mayor, was fine with it . Why would he not ? He collected a check at someone elses efforts . Then the little ass wipe shows up. Guess it's time for them to wake up !

It's his prerogative to do so? Then, that's it. Rules are rules. If he broke them, recall him or work against electing him next time. You don't like leadership? Get over it. My father-in-law was under Patton during WWII. He didn't like Patton but Patton won battles. I wasn't liked at work by many but everyone wanted to work for me. Go figure. I would even fire my own children, even my wife. Hey, family is family but business is business. I'm, fire and rescue, retired. It wasn't a game or job protection program. I only accepted the very best. Your life is worth it.
The mayor was elected into his position. By popular vote? Truman, not as grand as a mayor, I'm sure, didn't like MacArthur so he replaced him. We're some people unhappy? Yes. My dad was in Korea when it happened. He never liked MacArthur.

Was looking online about how you can remove a mayor from office in Pennsylvania, found an article dating back to 2016 that gave some insight. Seems it’s pretty hard to do you have to do a recall petition and have it signed by 10% , not sure what the ten percent is if it’s the entire city, just voters, or 10% of voters… (some states make it easier to recall people in low turn out election by making the number of signatures merely be a percentage of the number of people that voted in the most recent election )
What I found more interesting is (according to this article) Pennsylvanian mayors have no salary, only vote to break a tie on the city council, and have some authority over the police department. If that is true perhaps that why in this situation the mayor was so uninvolved, but if that is true, how could he fire people?
Who knows, maybe what I read was inaccurate

When they first interviewed the mayor I thought they were asking a teenage bystander what he thought about their mayor being gone. The fact that he got elected says something about the people of the town . Sorry, but you really should have someone with a little life experience as a leader. Have seen the pretty girl pretty boy popularity vote in cities , churches , businesses and schools a good bit. I guess it seems vogue and hip to a pop society. In most cases the naive young persons makes terrible judgement calls in every area - even if they mean well- and frequently get intoxicated with their quick rise to status and obtain a bloated ego.

He lost the democrat primary in May, 2021 by 200+ votes so unless he runs as an independent then he will be a one term mayor. He probably only showed up because of the primary election coming up and wanted to get a second term so he could collect the salary.

Don't bet on it. I live next to a village that has an incompetent clerk running the show. She has failed to meet the State's record keeping requirements for seven straight years. Her office has flunked the State Audit 8 straight years. The Counsel president sees nothing wrong with her work performance and won't dismiss her. But the good people of the Village have reelected him 3 more times since all this came out. That doesn't include the shady property and licensing transaction involving the Counsel President and his daughter. Small town. Everybody sees what's going on. No one wants to step up to stop it.
