😅 great to see somebody that knows what they’re doing fixing everything! What a relief that you found somebody that knows what’s going on. By the way, my dogs missed the cats. They kept on looking. Lol
I feel that you have found a good mechanic repairing your sail drive. I love the way he describes what he is doing, I can tell he has done this many times and would trust his knowledge. Good luck guys.
Fabulous finding an Irish mechanic in Rebak Island Thailand, really enjoyed this, having a full rebuild of bearings and seals in a saildrive that we could actually see being fixed was awesome, thanks heaps. Looking forward to seeing you put it back in the boat. 🇦🇺 fyi Australia and New Zealand are hosting the Women's World Cup Soccer, first time ever, so excited and proud of our United Countries. 💖👍and Australia's first game is today against Ireland. 🤣
Yes Andy is from Belfast, where Rachel's mother was born and raised, which instantly drew us to him. He and Robbie, who owns Rebak Marine Services and is Sweden, very graciously allowed us to film them and share their knowledge. Funny you should mention the soccer. Ivan had informed me of the competition just minutes before we read your comment.
Thanks for that it was very interesting for how many parts that you need to put back together and to be careful of all the rubber seals that they are not damaged when doing it I’ll be looking forward to the next video take care cheers Barry Victoria Australia 🇦🇺
Even though I know nothing about how the mechanics of a catamaran works, this was interesting. I love the Cruising Kiwis! Can't wait to see you back sailing.
Fascinated by the mechanical stuff. This guy really knows what he is doing and it is a complex process, but it is needed to keep everything safe and dry and working correctly. Keep well and safe. James.
Nothing worse than hauling out twice in a short period of time, we are currently ordering and ordering parts so that when we get hauled out shortly we can hit the ground running, so many things to do on the hardstand and so little time 😊 Good explanation, look forward to seeing you guys back out on the water! -Cait
Andy, if you read these comments. It's good to know you're out there. Doing it correctly. Realizing how important it is. Taking your time. Attending to each little detail. All the best my friend!
A lot of info to absorb, but he made it seem like child's play. Thanks for the editing Rachel. Good stuff. Take care. That goes for the rest of the unseen crew as well. Atb from down here.
Great video!! So important to know how these things work and also so awesome you found a guy who knew what he’s doing and walked you through it all!! 🎉🎉 thanks for sharing this!! ❤
Good to see that you are getting some great value work done, especially where you are as anywhere else in NZ or Australia would cost a fortune, money well spent for greater reliability for you all, be safe and thank you for the update. How is Finn going in the rowing?
Hola Andrés Doy de La Plata y quisiera saber si la web de trenes argentinos está actualizada... quisiera ir preparando unos días de descanso para Córdoba o San Luis .. Desde ya mis Saludos y el canal 🎉🎉🎉🎉💚
Wondering why you didn’t have the shaft machined to remove the grooves and then have it ‘sleeved’ to stop the new seals being worn out quickly by the grooves??
Nothing worse than having to haul out twice in a short period. That said I really enjoyed learning off the mechanic. Pity it wasn't a Vovo as I have S130s on mine. 😅😅
I know Parley had a similar problem who else? A lot of people who have shaft drive say they wouldn't want sail drive. Ours have been pretty good up to know but the shaft drive seems alot simpler, less moving and maintenance.
@@TheCruisingKiwis yes colin...and the third escapes me at mo . ..thunk it was one from sth africa. .. anyways good to see your getting a bit of traction with subs...so underrated...regards from whangapararoa
Yes the title made it seem so much more inviting 😊. I too (Rachel) find the maintenance videos a bit blah, but there are many people who can't enough of them. This was for them, not for the likes of you and me Robert. Insider info - there's a bit more boat work next week interspersed with boat life then normal transmission will return.

I know nothing about motors and mechanics, yet I found this episode strangely addictive.
Well you're a rare breed (which I think is a good thing). One supporter said it was the most boring video ever. 😊

With that accent he had Rachel's confidence regardless🙂😉
Interesting boat maintenance that you don't get to see often. Thanks for sharing

Glad that you found the leak when you did. Boat repairs aren't fun but it has to get done.

Good luck with the haul out. Ours got extended a couple weeks due to extra parts needed.
Playing catch up here... I'm no mechanic, but really enjoyed the technical look into how this was put together.
We are no mechanics too so appreciated having someone help who knows their grits🙂
i am so happy to have direct shaft from the engine, older Leopards have that. Seems to be in good hands...Good luck
Yes it seems shaft is much less hassle.

Very informative and interesting. You must have learn't something about your saildrives listening and watching him reassemble them.
They were great value Ian.
It is always interesting to watch how people repair equipment.....did Declan get to Perth finally? You and Ivan stay safe!
Yes he made it safe and sound just..
Sail drives bit like my misses😂dam temperamental.
Good luck with the next one guys.

Thank you

I left that call to the engineer. He had a close look at them and felt they were OK.
Nothing worse than having to haul out twice in a short period. That said I really enjoyed learning off the mechanic. Pity it wasn't a Vovo as I have S130s on mine. 😅😅
I'm sure there are similarities in the two set ups.
A good technical one for you Rachel. Your job next time?😂
Or Rob's or EMC
I love boat work videos like this.
Gotta ask - where’s the mechanic’s home country? Aussie? Kiwi? Scottish?
Thanks Robin. Andy is Northern Ireland and Robbie is from Sweden.
wow third channel in as many weeks with same repair...would you prefer shaft drive if you could choose?
