    With the success of the phenomenally powerful Helix, it was only a matter of time before Line 6 put that same power to work in a unit focused on delivering top-tier modeled effects. Introducing the Line 6 HX Effects. Like Helix, HX Effects is able to take total control of your guitar rig, supplement your pedalboard, or anything in between. With over 100 HX-quality effects - many pulled from Line 6's already legendary stomps - you'll never run out of tones. And thanks to the HX audio engine, you're able to run up to nine effects simultaneously.

    Nice demo I often wondered why line 6 didn't put out just an effects only type rig and this is the answer to that. I have the helix so I don't need this but if this would have come out before the helix, I might have bought it... For the guitarists out there addicted to their amplifiers, this would be a nice addition to their rigs...

      Hi there! Are you aware of the M-Series of FX-Boards from Line 6? The M13 has been arround for years and is the predecessor of this unit. They even inculded a "legacy" groupe of FX in this Helix HX, which consists of the "old" effects from the M13 :)

    Hello everyone, my HX Effects does not work with my Engl Sreammer 50. The TRS jack puts some extra voltage on the amplifier, the lead led always has a dim light even when the channel is off. The polarity of one button is right and the other is inverted. Changing from EXP to Amp in the preferences also does not solve the problem, however, using EXP we can change the polarity (strange).There is also an increase in the gain of the amplifier. Using a Boss FS-6 pedal works fine. Also with Behringer FCB1010. I reported the problem to Line6 who replied: "Hi, HX Effects ability to control external amp channel and/or reverb switching has been tested with many popular amps and heads. Unfortunately this does not guarantee compatibility with all products. Note that, depending on the circuitry of the channel switching jack in the guitar amp used, the EXT Amp function may not operate as expected. Best regards, Technical Support Line 6 Support Europe" This is a copy/paste from the manual. Therefore, you buy the equipment and if you are lucky it works with your amplifier.

    Hi, which one is for me?
    I only want to practice bass at home with my fender rumble 40 and my headphones. I like the idea of everything in one pedal over having to buy a preamp DI, compressor, EQ, octaver, etc, etc.
    Do I need amp and cab simulators?
    Do I get the POD Go with only 4 pedals to choose from?
    Do I get the HX FX with no Amps and cab sims and 6 pedals to choose from?
    Do I get the HX Stomp with everything you need but only 3 switches to play with?
    I need a little help and i cant get it from Line6.

    How would this sound going straight to the board and run through the monitors without having an amp/cab simulation?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Mark. Thanks for your question! The short answer is, it depends. Amps/cabs/mics are all filters. When you add tubes, or tube emulation, there's some compression, as well. Without them, there's a lot more high and low frequency content, and you really have to rely on your hands to control dynamics. For a crystalline clean sound, it'd sound good without too much effort. For an edgy distortion/fuzz tone, again not too difficult. It's the mid gain, "warm"/"organic" breakup tones that require a lot of tone shaping with filters, EQ, compression and some ambiance You'll have a longer signal chain, but it's doable. An HXStomp might be a better bet if the one device is all you want to run through.
      Please contact me direct if my response isn't clear or you have other questions.

      Stephen Fry you think this is better than the Kemper? actually, a tube amp and an actual real pedal are coming back in style since these processors just don’t do it for me. Yea that’s right. Tube amp a pedal and play. No tweaking all day.

    • @AlexStrabala
      @AlexStrabala 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, you could send any midi command to the kemper to toggle on/off the kemper's built-in effects, and run it in four cable method with the kemper so the HXFX's dry fx would be in front of the kemper and the wet fx would be in Kemper's loop.

    I've been playing on multi effects for years, but then I sold my Helix because it was too much for me. I wanna go simpler now and just bought me a good amp, I'm thinking about buying either this or a Helix LT instead of pedals. Is the only difference between HX and Helix LT the amp/cab sim and the volume pedal? I would rather buy the LT if that's the case, sometimes amp/cab saved my ass on stages.

    I just stopped in to check out the new pedal. . . instead, for 9 minutes you go over the owners manual... let's hear it, let's hear it, let's hear it!

    What would be MUCH more useful is an "HX Amps" unit. Same idea (grab half of the Helix), but grab the Amp-side instead. Most people already have favorite stompboxes, be they analog or digital. But VERY FEW people have a big quality amp collection. I'd much rather pay $599 for a box-full of amps & IR's, than for a box-full of effects. Are you listening, Line 6? (and don't forget to give it a stereo effects loop or two).

    I love Sweetwater and Mitch is a cool dude, but way too much talking, I could have just read the instruction manual. Would have liked to hear more of the pedal.

    I can see why so many pro acts still use stomp boxes, or have a roadie/tech do all the switching. Who has time to set all this stuff up? Guess the newer generation of guitarists are better able to deal with menus and editing...

      Mind you though, having separate stomp boxes for all your effects can also be cumbersome. And think of all the extra connecting cables you have to use and transportation issues. Plus buying everything separately will cost you more money. This particular device seems easy enough to use I find.

      Did you watch the video? This unit is extremely user friendly and quite easy to get up and running with presets right out of the box. Depends on what you are looking for, but the menu diving on this unit is not that extreme at all.

    Price is high for a stripped down Helix

    • @BrockDavisson

      Go and buy 190 or so of the effects in helix HXFX in stand alone stomp box format and let me know how much that is compared to $600 only ;)

      I like Line 6 and the Helix looks good but Boss GT1 has 108 effects for $200, and they are Boss effects. GT100 has many more for $100 less than the Helix HX. Boss Katana is sweeping the latest Line 6 Spider amps so Line 6 needs to be more competitive. Plenty of Amplifi products in the shops with 3 years of dust on them and still asking > $400. Most folks acquire 5-15 pedals over 10-20 years for about $1500, then use three of them and have 7 or more in bypass haha. the Helix, amplifi, GT's etc. are the way to go but competition is ready to beat up Line 6.

      @BrockDavisson 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree. Line 6 has been beating up the competition friend. Look at the new fractal axefx III, boss gt-1000 and headrush. They all share something similar... they try to look like the helix in some way or shape. Again line 6 is at the front of the modelling game just like they have been pushing boundaries since late 90's and everyone followed.

    • @ml414skidoo
      @ml414skidoo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brock Davisson Well of this $600 unit doesn’t have modelling and only has effects then why not buy a Boss option??
      Boss effects are well known to be more popular than Line 6. Thousands more Boss pedals sold than Line 6 pedals, correct ?
      It’s just not worth it.

    • @BrockDavisson
      @BrockDavisson 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This didn't need modelling amps/cabs because they already have the line 6 helix floor and LT version and helix native computer software. This is for the guys/girls that like the helix effects but want to put it through a real amp without the modeling amp/cab/mics.

    I keep hoping for something I actually like from Line 6. To me, their FX sound so cheap and artificial. I know many people like them, but to my ears, they sound cheap. I was hoping this would be different.
