      Best line in the film!

    Fyi: A scene cut from the movie is that Maude painted smiles on the statues of saints in the church because she thought they looked too stern and religion should be happy. That's what she and the priest were discussing.

      Packer... I don't know how you knew about that scene.... but a lingering question has finally been answered..... thank you

      @@howardrome6047 There is a novelization of the screenplay, written by Colin Higgins, that includes that screen.

      No. The captions here are wrong. He doesn't ask if she painted the saint, he asks if she "painted the same," referring to his car, which she stole. And apparently yes, she did paint his car.

      @@EyeLean5280 with respect, it is as I wrote it above. It was a deleted scene involving Maude painting smiles on the statues. Just look for articles on Harold and Maude deleted scenes and you'll find it. They probably had to keep that exchange in even though it didn't make sense it the context of the scenes they did keep. That happens sometimes with movies ...

    Loved this as a kid and still love it. I can see the humor in the movie, how he tries to rile his mom but I am super sensitive about suicide and can't hear about, talk about...since my best friend died. My issue I know, but glad I can still enjoy the movie. Our good friend always drove us around in his hearse in the 80s. It was a 60s beautiful car!!! Thanks for the clip!

    I like how Harold just gets in the hearse and just sits there while Maude drifts in a cementary until she asks him if she can take him home. They're the best.

    I saw this movie when it first came out and I already have dibbs on the hearse so.. neener neener.
    Still my number 1 movie of all time and everyone who knows me knows it. Cat Stevens inspired my own musical ambitions. After seeing Harold and Maude I went head over heals in to music. It's the cosmic language.

      Back in 1986 I attended the auction for Ruth Gordon's personal items and placed the bid for her yellow raincoat. I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Ms. GORDON years earlier. For a 20 year old 1,500.00 was a lot of money. It went to an Anonymous buyer in Minnesota. Still glad I had the chance to talk with and meet up with my Maude. Still waiting to get a hold of that rainslicker.

    You can't tell me Maude didn't know that was Harold's hearse. She knew. That's why she picked it to 'steal', to give herself another opportunity to get close to him.

    Its a line from Ghostbusters because the Cadillac hearse is very similar to the Cadillac used for Ecto-1 in Ghostbusters.

    • @bkloren5814
      @bkloren5814 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a line from Ghostbusters. The Ghostbusters line is a line from Harold And Maude, since Harold And Maude was made several years before Ghostbusters.
