I'm convinced Ryan's copy of OoT is intentionally influencing the outcome of a certain random event for comedic effect. If the metaphorical dice finally rolls something other than the same number over and over again, he's going to be so confused :)
So, Ryan, a little history for you; in the 80s and 90s players had similar problems solving games and so the $1.99-a-minute Nintendo Power Hotline was created; during its heyday they would manage upwards of 2,500 calls a day. That line was effectively defunct with the advent of the Internet, but it does go to show that there were a *myriad* of players who had issues solving game puzzles. This was also an issue Nintendo attempted to address with later games with in-game guides. Navi was one of these fixes, being an in game character who would prompt the player on where to go and what to do. Further guides would be things you saw in your BOTW playthrough, such as a quest list and that list then indicating to the player where to go and who to interact with. However, in this era of N64 games, you will not have those sorts of prompts; your guides will be Navi and the other in-game characters. The best thing you can do is to pay close attention to what they *specifically say*, as it's all designed to prompt you on what to do. Excellent playthrough, by the way! Comparatively, you're effectively attempting to solve Outer Wilds without the Ship Log, which is what most playthroughs I've seen are reliant upon!
Ryan's use of the term "glitch" continues to be funny to me. I love how Ryan always ends up trying to pursue a/many romantic relationship(s) throughout these games xD 54:19 Bloody WHAT????? Talk about things *I* NEVER noticed before in the game, that's INCREDIBLE you saw that! I never noticed that little pattern once before on those wooden posts! I think ocarina is as so many hidden gems and if we didn’t get stuck we wouldn’t find out so many things. I cheered so hard for you when you blew up little hot rod, little Ryan! That’s such a fucking tricky solution. Like ??? It’s one that I always wonder how any one finds it out on their own and YOU DID!! loving this play through, let’s goooo!!!!
When we played this in the nineties it wasn't necessarily so easy to get help if you got stuck. You could ask your friends or maybe buy a walkthrough book, but I agree that it's fun running around trying to figure out how to get some progress
As a kid, I remember looking up a walkthrough on a game forum site, since I didn't understand how to play Zelda games just yet. I tried printing it out but didn't realize it would use a crap ton of pages! I remember censoring the naughty words the person wrote in the guide with a marker, lol. He was like, "Then there's this b*tch Mary! Kill her a** to move to the next room." The internet was pretty funny back then, lol. It was a little crude, but the walkthrough was pretty thorough.
When you’re a kid and time isn’t so precious, I think running around bouncing off dead ends like a Roomba just doesn’t feel like a problem the same way it does as an adult.
Good luck with the temple, it's a scorcher! Honestly, seeing you figure stuff out and trying stuff out, forgetting things here and there and re-learning them, all of it reminds me of when I first played the game. The further you go into these dungeons and these different items you acquire, the more you'll have to try out and that's part of the fun of a Zelda adventure imo. Good luck, don't overthink it and have fun! (And get ready for a lot of fire keese :P)
14:36 BotW "ceremony lance" the shrine quest that requires you to swim up a waterfall with the ceremony lance and right after it do a jump attack out of the air onto a platform to summon the shrine. I think you googled that. 🙂
When u feel slow, remember that every old game came with it's manual. 😊 They literally wrote the things they deemed confusing or hints. So most 90s kids were backseating. I say most because my cartridge was a handmedown so the manual was long lost. 😂 Probably why I didn't finish the game in years. 😂
I just played through the Fire Temple. On my version of OOT the dungeon music is different. Apparently it is Islamic chanting so it was changed in the most recent version, which is on the Switch now. I thought you might find that interesting since you brought up the dungeon music.
I know a lot of people are saying to play Majora's Mask next since it is the direct sequel, but I may recommend Wind Waker (If you aren't playing Tears next). It'll look and feel different than OOT and I think it will give you a better idea of how the games are connected. It'll also be another generational leap, like LTTP -> OOT. You'll have gone from SNES -> N64 -> GameCube. Though you'll have to decide if you want to play the GameCube original or the HD Remaster on Wii U.
But Majora's Mask is best played when you have this game's story, look, and mechanics fresh in your mind. I agree that I can't wait for the eventual Wind Waker playthrough, though.
I'm the same as you when I'm stuck in a game. I have never played this game and I haven't either found a way you can proceed (not that I would tell you if I did). Don't know if you solve it during this episode, juat had to comment after your intro because = relatable😅
Does doing no spoilers also include posing questions that might, at the very least, give you things to consider that point you in the right direction without giving you the answer?
Knowing Ryan, my gut says probably yeah. I think he prefers to play as if he was literally playing alone in his living room, for the first time, the whole way through
You're probably right, I was hoping that wasn't the case though, as there is something the game is trying to hint at him, but he isn't picking up on it.
@@HedleyLamarr Thank you for asking. I know it's frustrating, but I think Ryan and the mods appreciate it! Ladies, gentlemen, and enbies, we've arrived at the episode of this playthrough where Ryan's brain kicks in and he starts picking up what the game is putting down. Every playthrough he does has this point. Truly a pleasure to see! It does feel pretty deep into this one, but part of that is that the game is old and foundational to 3D games and part of that is that this game is a bit finnicky which works against Ryan's natural inclination to try the right solution, but do it ever so slightly off and then immediately start trying other solutions. Looks like he's picked up on this pattern in this episode as well, which has contributed to his success here. I kind of want to go through previous playthroughs and track episode number, approximate percentage progress, and playtime to determine if this turning point is relatively consistent across different playthroughs, but I know that I'll never get around to it xD Ryan, it's been a joy watching you experiment and experience the game as many of us did as children. Time to beat some Fire Temple ass.

But Majora's Mask is best played when you have this game's story, look, and mechanics fresh in your mind. I agree that I can't wait for the eventual Wind Waker playthrough, though.
@@ZOSO900I agree with you. Majora's Mask is best fresh from this game, and an absolute must-play imho.
now THIS thumbnail/title makes me happy
A very productive episode this felt great!! So excited for fire temple 😍 🔥
Volkswagen;)
I'm the same as you when I'm stuck in a game. I have never played this game and I haven't either found a way you can proceed (not that I would tell you if I did). Don't know if you solve it during this episode, juat had to comment after your intro because = relatable😅
I'm learning a lot of UX design watching this.
Why is there a cow?!?!😂
I don't have the time to watch right now but I love the thumbnail 😂
This is a great birthday surprise, wake up to Zelda gameplay from Ryan
Happy birthday! 🎂🎉
Nailed the pronunciation on Volvagia
Love this series!
1:03:40 I was waiting for this, I need it would scare him😂
Just out of curiosity. On average, how many episodes do you do in one sitting?
Sounds like one, given the way he talks about not playing for a bit every single episode. Maybe he plays multiple games in one sitting?
@ I think there was one time he had done it back to back. Maybe he is going from one game to another.
When will you do side quests Ryan?
The original music for the fire temple was an Islamic chant and was changed.
Yay!🎉
Ah, yes, the legendary dragon, Wolfgang
All right! Progress!
4:43 Indeed
Does doing no spoilers also include posing questions that might, at the very least, give you things to consider that point you in the right direction without giving you the answer?
Knowing Ryan, my gut says probably yeah. I think he prefers to play as if he was literally playing alone in his living room, for the first time, the whole way through
You're probably right, I was hoping that wasn't the case though, as there is something the game is trying to hint at him, but he isn't picking up on it.
@@HedleyLamarr Watching Ryan is an exercise in patience. Hopefully he'll pick up on what you want him to at some point.
@@HedleyLamarr Thank you for asking. I know it's frustrating, but I think Ryan and the mods appreciate it! If you want to discuss things in the comments with other viewers without spoiling Ryan, you can always do a spoiler warning and then hide the rest under a readmore. To my understanding, the mods will not delete those and Ryan will not read them.
1:02:18 PARKOUR!
Happy 20th video! 🎉
omg I missed you
Ladies, gentlemen, and enbies, we've arrived at the episode of this playthrough where Ryan's brain kicks in and he starts picking up what the game is putting down.
I kind of want to go through previous playthroughs and track episode number, approximate percentage progress, and playtime to determine if this turning point is relatively consistent across different playthroughs, but I know that I'll never get around to it xD
Ryan, it's been a joy watching you experiment and experience the game as many of us did as children. Time to beat some Fire Temple ass.
He's never going to get the *redacted*, is he?
I had a problem with my Volvagia once. Had to take these big pills and drink lots of water.
I'll unfortunately have to pause this soon, then finish it on my work break. At this point I've seen only 20 minutes...
