That thing is great i like that handle and guard combo for that specific light blade design. I had no idea these even existed and for so long... Its got great potential as a bush craft tool and i think it would make a great improvised spear if need be.
I think Boker made a "mini" one in the past, I don't know about that one. This one is a full sized one and to me it basically looks like a Bolo, which is a very old but useful design.
Very Cool!! It's sorta like a double edge cleaver. LOL This is a type of knife that I always liked, but just couldn't figure out what I would use it for. Thanks for sharing
It chops ok for it's weight, however it looks much heavier than in actually is. I thought it would be pretty heavy with a name like "Smatchet" but it is actually only as thick as maybe a medium heavy machete.
Since they are hand made she can order them custom sized, Kami is an excellent Khukuris specialist, take a look at it, maybe you can make one of your excellent videos.
that's cool man I wish I was on TH-cam all those years ago it's hard looking up the stuff you got bro lol your gonna make me broker then I already am lol jk
Say Heah Israel, I wish I could show you my new chopper, so use your imagination, its a M43 style machete full tang, 18"+ OAL ;1/2" thick, black water buffalo how handles, but because they are hand made, Yang at Himalayan Imports can make any specification. So my new one is white bone handles full tang 5160 deferentially tempered, 15"+OAL 10th" blade, thinner thickness about 7.5m/m, its beautiful, yet an excellent chopper, I like the M43 style so I had it custom sized down, Yandu is a princess.
Could do worse... personally I'd smooth out/round off the sharp corners of the grip- maybe even use some bat tape on it. Would make a good survival knife if properly altered for comfort. A little on the heavy side (maybe) but great for "Naked And Afraid"...😄
Also, don't take legal advice from the Internet, unless it is the rcmp or cbsa website. I actually recommend not taking my word, and checking it out your self. Just look on the rcmp website under prohibited device.
double edge aren't restricted..... You can pick them up at any knife or sporting store. Only brass knuckles, switchblades and bailsongs are prohibited. This is coming right from he criminal code of Canada. I assume you got this from cold steels website, they are wrong. Don't take legal advice from a seller, only the govt book. We actually have fairly lax laws, we could legally carry a katana in public, as long is it isn't concealed. Still isn't a good idea though...
Jesus you are on a cutting spree. Please leave a little of our forest left. I might have to turn you in to the liberals for destroying our trees, water jugs and wasting water, LOL. Nice looking knife, almost a thick machete ax. The handle looks a bit big and umcomfortable. But it looks indestructible.

Yeah, I am not sure if the originals were double edged or if they left one unsharpened for more tool type usage.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it, Eilleen!
I agree! it's a fascinating design, very multi-purpose, and great fun to smash-chop into things.
Another great review! This is the first time I have seen one outside of their catalog.
Thanks, buddy! I would categorize it as a medium heavy short machete as far as using it
Yes exactly, it reminds me a lot of the Power Eagle and is around the same size.
Thanks bro! Glad you're finding gear you like!
Your channel costs me lots of money! Love the video.

Which will win out? :]
Thanks, Miles!
Very nice. I like that you chop more in your videos!
Thanks, LA!
Since one third of the reverse edge is also sharpened would it be legal in Canada? (Double edged weapons are restricted)
would love to see more on this, if you could make another vid talking bout it. I'd love to learn more on this one.
THIS is one of the types of knives I am hoping to home make one day , this design. I like it. I also like that Tanto , and the Bowie styles.
My cousin has a close friend owns a scrapyard. We have access to untold amounts of plate steel. I cant freeking wait.
Thank you, Night! I appreciate it :]
My handle had a slight play on one side too. Got this for 49.99. They had nearly half price sell. Big blade. Guard solid. Unusual knife. Like it
Sounds very impressive!

I love your videos. I love knives and such too and sometimes there's nothng better then watching some awesome knive/or such review :)
You will like it!
Thanks, Birddog
Thanks, buddy
Thanks, bro!
If forced to choose, would you rather have the OSS Smatchet or the Condor Big Leaf machete?
I would go with the Big Leaf, this OSS is a bit crude.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives Thanks ^_^
kinda reminds of the Blackhawk Tatang. It has two edges for combat use. But it is still wide and thick enough for utility use.
Love your vids Israel.
Like to see a smatchet rotella shield combination!
amazing knife my friend!!!
ooohh i like i like !! you always have the best things on here!!

wonder what the CS smatchet can do
just ordered a CS Smatchet, now I want this.
I can see why William E. Fairbairn favored this weapon.
They do!
hi,, thanks, Blade!
great knife review

Excellent Design
Good one you got there 🤠
it is
Great vid. Which do U prefer, OSS Smatchet, US 1917 Bolo, or TOPS Power Eagle 12 as a Tactical Go To Blade ?
I would go with the Power Eagle.
I like it,now thats a blade thats multi purposed!
that's a wicked blade...i am really torn between love and ambivalence when it comes to "leaf shaped blades".
that's cool man I wish I was on TH-cam all those years ago it's hard looking up the stuff you got bro lol your gonna make me broker then I already am lol jk

I got one a couple of years ago awesome knife mine is from windlass though made in India
wasn't the smatchet was a running joke on bladeforums for a while?!?! that thing is sweet!
it was designed to slash, cut and stab someone in ww1 trench warfare. the leaf shape blade opened up a huge wound channel
And heavy enough to crack the skull, too.
Recycling them to wood chips
I like the Smatchet.I think it was a buck version of it some years ago, wish I had bought it it is bad ass like the kukri.
we'll have to wait to see sadly
I see a bright future for you, then!
Please some one tell me the blade thickness in mm. Thanks.
PizzaSamurai they're about .5ish mm from base to mid it tapers to the point
It is, so many forget the audio side of knife porn.
Lets chop sum heads!
good god that badass
I don't have any Nazis around though, so in the meantime wood is a good durability test.
it looks like a small fritzen blade
THEY MAKE SMATCHETS NOW?
Oh.my.god

Her name is Yangdu
I just assume anything cool is likely restricted there :[

a quadratic grip is horrible after one hour of using
Destroy!!!
Its not a machete but a Khukuris
It's a lot cheaper then the Tops Power Eagle
Lol, it's not too bad as long you don't want anything crazy. But they seem to be very picky about knives and melee weapons.
new diet program eat what ever you want to eat and than hour chopping with a knife
that handle is a joke ..
Yeah it is very square, needs sanding and rounding.
1st!
