    Beautiful Bike, Bob, thank you for what you did, Atlas is happy, Pedro is happy, and a bunch of us who are traveling with him in the comfort of our homes are happy. I just hope he'll be reunited with Alp someday, It's amazing all he went through with that bike.

    Lovely Job Bob! I think the paint scheme is bang on. Let;s hope Pedro doesn't muller the crap out of it :) I'm sure 'Atlas' is in good hands and it'll be great to see where they both pitch up. It's a really magnanimous thing to lend your bike to a relative stranger, particularly when you have some sentimental attachment. Stay safe, and best wishes from a fellow 'Alpista' the UK

    Hello Bob, between you and Pedro now I'm looking for a 1980s Honda, I want one anyway but you have precipitated my decision. In high school the bike of choice was the CB 750 in my area. My brother found a "barn find", CB 650 sitting for 20 years, it's running great now since he restored it. I'll probably get one like your Atlas or Transalp or an Interceptor. The Atlas is beautiful, the sound, color scheme, stance, it's perfect. You are a kind man. Cheers

      Thanks Alibi, The TransAlp is lots of bike for the money. In my area you find a good one for around 1500 to 2000 €. For the paint job I used spray cans from MOTIP. I can find the RAL colour codes. Good look with the search.

    Love your work on the Honda Transalp!I would like to do the same to mine, i've a broken front fairing and i was curious to know the size of your zxr400 headlights (diameter)
    Is it 5,75 inches ( like the zxr750 headlights for example)? Thank you!

    • @bobdemeyer6944
      @bobdemeyer6944  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Make sure you have the headlights set before you start cutting. I have started with a second build of the fairing. Just found out that the headlights are a bit smaller than the first ones.11 cm in stead of 12cm. I try to use as much as possible of the original headlight frame. This time the build is well documented.

    Hey Bob i was just wondering..How did you fit in the headlights? Im currently trying to find headlights for my transalp with the africa twin front and headlights..original africa twin headlights cost around 250€ ehich is way to much

    • @bobdemeyer6944
      @bobdemeyer6944  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Kawa ZXR400 twin headlights. I just bought a set for 70€. They are not much bigger than the original TA headlight.. It is then a matter of cutting and grinding the fairing until the twin headlights fit. Fill up the gaps with PVC drain pipes. I know, it is not a straightforward job. I waited for the winter …

    I love the headlights and fairing and would love to do that for my '92 Transalp too but I can't find any pictures of this fairing anywhere that looks like that. Can you tell me what you did to the ZXR 400 fairing and maybe what model year that was? Awesome bike! :D

    Awesome! Why did you decide to switch from the AT exhaust back to original? Was it just a looks preference or was it more than that?

    • @bobdemeyer6944
      @bobdemeyer6944  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The AT exhaust was borrowed from my son's. Sound and looks were great, though. I put back the original when Atlas moved to Portugal (for the first time) I don't like the looks but sound is OK.

    • @bobdemeyer6944

    Much appreciated video, Bob! Thank you very much for it :) Can you tell me just one thing...How did you make the fairings? I have an old 1988 AT undergoing a total overhaul of the engine and the fairings will be the last thing to be done next year (unfortunately I bought her after some "paint improvement")

    • @bobdemeyer6944
      @bobdemeyer6944  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the twin headlights of a Kawasaki ZXR400 and then started cutting and grinding the original fairing. Trial and error ;-) I used PVC pipes to fill the gaps. And finally lots of polyester resin, fabric and putty. Unfortunately I lost all the pictures of the fabrication.

      It's a 1996. The transformation was purely cosmetic. Same engine, etc. Since Pedro Mota (YT) uses it, he has upgraded the suspension and the exhaust line at Mago's in Lissabon.
