It is finally time to get Kohen's C6 Corvette Grand Sport to the Drag strip to test. He now has a set of sticky tires and has been waiting patiently for this trip. The down side is it rain all day so we couldn't get any quarter mile passes in or any time slips. They were only allowing 1/8 mile not 1/4 mile. His car makes a decent amount of power with a cam only set up. He also has a circle d billet converter and longtube headers. The car was street tuned by gptuning and seems to run great. We couldn't keep it from spinning unfortunately. He made 3 or 4 passes waiting on them to open up the track for 1/4 mile passes but that never happened. Also without a slip it was hard to know what his 60ft time was. If it didn't spin and we got a full hit we would know more about what the car was doing or if we needed some adjustments in the tune. We will go back soon as the weather continues to get better. Can it run a 10 second pass NA? I think it can! Hit the Comments and let me know what you think.......

As someone who lives about 5 miles from a 1/4 mile drag strip and pretty much lives there during the summer, here are some observations from watching him run. First, on a NA car, add 4 to 4.25 seconds to your 1/8 mile times to get a pretty close estimate of 1/4 mile times. So that would put his car somewhere in the high 11 second to mid 12 second times. That is pretty close to expectation level for the mods he has.
Second, did not show in the video but even drag radials need to have the tire pressure lowered to be max effective. What is the sweet spot for his car? That will come with experimentation.
Third, one of the reasons that drag racers run really skinny tires in the front are for less weight but also because they pick up less water from the water box. When you have a strip that only has the ability to drive through the water box (not wide enough to drive around and back up into the water box) then wide street tires pick up lots of water and while you wait for the light to drop, that water is pooling right at the start line. So he is driving right through the water from his front tires and causing the back tires to spin.
Side note: he should experiment with how long he does his burn out as well.
Just my 2 cents from someone who lives in Bowling Green, Ky....
All great info. We did drop the tire pressure a little. Zero prep on track due to rain. This car should do a low 11, high 10 with the mods it has.
@TWAMotorsports yeah, the track looked terrible for him. Drag racing to me is a lot like golf. It's disappointing sometimes but when you have that one good run, you are hooked for life! Lol
@proudfatherofone2454 lol. That's for sure
Kohen done awesome for his first trip in the car. Every pass sounded better than the one before and the last one sounded very smooth. Time and tinkering will pay off. Great job Kohen! ✌🏻
I agree. He will get there
?
Now turbo the green truck and start a racing Chanel😅
@Clappedoutprojects I need to
Best thing he didn't wrecked it and get hurt
Very true
Hell yeah! Thats gotta make you proud man. Hes so lucky to have an LS gearhead as a dad man. I would of loved to of done this stuff with my dad as a teen. He will only get better and better, and truly learn the car.
I agree. I wish I could have been doing this at his age with my dad too
Cohen good job on the light.. reaction time is pretty good... 👍💯
He definitely did a great job!
@@TWAMotorsportsyou all have a great weekend. In Missouri.. I'll catch up with you on Monday night in your next video.. 💯
@keilylmm6377 thank you. You too
Bro I can't even imagine my boys behind the wheel of a corvette 😂 nervous is an understament my oldest is only 10 but still man awesome stuff bro you and your family are awesome 👌
My wife wouldn't even go because she didn't want to watch
@@TWAMotorsports I don't blame her
@Rich-cp4wo lol
Awesome I bet he had a blast out there. Can't wait till the next track day.
I think he did. We will be going back
@@TWAMotorsports we will be watching for sure.
I appreciate that
Awesome video! He didn't red light, he didn't break anything, and he got some experience. He'll improve with practice, and now he's probably hooked on speed. It looked like the Cam was also enjoying the races.
Thank you. It was fun for just the boys to go. You're right...nothing broke which is always good
I want my 02 camaro to sound like the vette. Great content.
Thank you
Nice work we have all had frustrating days.
I would start with 17 psi and work down. Needs a much longer burnout. I was taught once you see smoke count to 3 and roll out especially on the first run.
I think the car will go low 11’s with good air and prep.
I agree. Just need better weather and more seat time
It sounds great. He's got the idea. A small drop in air pressure might have helped with the grip. And boy does that Kam love it. As long as he got some seat time, he got some experience now. And that goes along ways. He's ready for the quarter. Just get a good air pressure gage and a compressor. And you can tune it a little better.
We let some out before the second run
The Grand Sport is fairly heavy so you'll need a little more tire pressure than a light car. This being said I would guess around low 20's for pressure. Do some try hops on the shop floor or the drive way to see how the tire footprint looks and that will get you in the ballpark, you can then fine tune it at the track.
👍
He did great I thought.
I thought so too
Kam cracks me up!
He is a tell all book too
I bet he is!! He’s seems pretty sharp!! I liked his questions. That look he had on his face seemed so mature! 😂
Lol
Tell him not bad first time at the track.. on my radials I lower my pressure to about 16.5 tell him to do a longer burnout you want to see a little smoke start specially with them being brand new tires i usually count about 3sec then roll out stage up to the first bulbs stall up and bump in with your foot break until you light the second bulbs up so your ready then when it’s time let the car do its thing
He did great for his first time in the car and conditions. Hopefully we will get a better option soon
@@TWAMotorsports oh yeah can only get better from here
Sweet
Wish we could have done a quarter mile pass
@TWAMotorsports but atleast you got to run! Corvette is fast. I gotta feeling it's going to be faster...👀
@beejay8719 more to come he says
Power is nothing if you don’t have the suspension under the car to put it to the ground. Reach out to kelltrac and get that thing dialed in. Drop that tire pressure some more as well. Burnouts need some work too.
Suspension is fine. Need seat time, better surface, and better weather
@@TWAMotorsports 😂😂😂😂 okay.
Lot's of super fast corvettes on stock suspension
@@TWAMotorsports you know everything apparently 🤙🏻
Nope not even close
So when is cohen going to start a chsnnel to fund his car
He needs to
Is no one taking about why is the green truck covered like it’s in a paint shop
Washed it and trying to keep it from getting dusty.
It’s an auto with a tire. Unless I’m amazing I always hook with these mods. Buy a dragy and F this crap track.
Hooks better on the street than it did here
He needs a better burnout, he barely spins them. Literally just gets them wet.
Definitely needs to get them hotter
