Yes House definitely gets better as you keep watching, you get seriously hooked and attached to these character's and their development.
The show is just starting out. I mean, there's almost always going to be the case of the week, but more compelling character development does come in to it as the show goes on.
Love Hugh Laurie, great English comedian and actor. Brilliantly fooled tones of Americans for years. The show does just keep getting better and better.
His accent was so good he fooled Bryan Singer who only wanted to cast American actors for the show.

Like everyone else says house gets better the longer you watch and there are over arching storys later on but tbh house is a lot like the show archer where their profession is just a backdrop for what makes it great which would be character development, characterization, and how those characters interact with each other
you want over arching stories keep watching :)
The first episodes are just an introduction to the characters and their routines. But I promise, in the middle of the season it's going to be more than a solid 7 xD (my opinion) Love this show so much.
the biggest overarching story is how the characters interact and change eachother. In that sense its really important to watch it all closely because any random episode can give you insight into a person and reframe how you view them and their actions.

You have to watch if from the beginning till the end that way you’ll understand the actual story is more than just your weekly cases. Obviously if you’re watching these eps out of order here and there and when you feel like it you won’t get the actual story.
Keep it up!!! this series is super good and honestly I loved every single season, the last season was not as amazing but even it was still pretty darn good!!!

there is development its just not as apparent at first dont worry there will be overarching stories :)
theres definitely at least one ep in season one thats a 10/10. but yeah, most of season one is very slow and dreary.
