As for the Yugoslav Sherman tank with a 122mm gun, I know 100% that there actually were two, because they were located in my military base where I served in the army. That was some 20 years ago. Since that military base does not exist, I don't know what the fate of those two Shermans was, they most likely ended up in scrap metal.
a small tip, the Roem, is pronounced as RO, and M like the letter, row-m, rO'Eam, but i guess it's kinda pointless to spell a pronunciation, sorry for wasting your time
My nominations for more cursed variants: - Mine Exploder T8: Fitted with an array of jackhammers to detonate mines. - Mine Exploder T12: Covered in rockets to blast a path through minefields. - French river monitor L 990: M4 on a boat.
I've never heard of the L 990 before. That is hilarious. I was not expecting it to very literally be an M4 on a boat when I looked it up. I figured it would be the turret, like the Soviet river patrols with theT-34 turrets, not the entire hull minus tracks and all the other motive parts.
I am neither based, nor Sherman pilled. I will henceforth hand in my tank nerd licence and start telling people that the Tiger 2 could 100% beat an M1 Abrams in TH-cam comments.
Just tell people it can beat "an M1". But don't tell which M1 you mean. There's like 6 vehicles, and 20+ other pieces of equipment with that designation. (one of them is M1A1... an anti-tank mine used in WWII)
...IDK, the curved shield at least has a _little_ bit of Sherman-ness to it. The box is worse IMHO. ... Though they're both better than the rear mounted gun version!
@6:52 Seeing a Dual-Drive (DD) Sherman off-loading from a LST onto the beach rather than driving itself onto the beach is a definite "sorta-defeats-the-purpose, don'tcha think?" moment. 😄
I used to restore tanks and at one point we had a sherman and a M46 patton in the workshop. We put the pattons turret onto the shermans hull just for the cursed picture. I have proof to back it up if ur interested :)
The M36B Jackson had a Sherman chassis. There were more Sherman chassis available than the standard chassis they needed. The crew like the ball mounted machine gun in the radio operator position as it better gave support against enemy Infantry than the .50 cal M2 on the turret. It was, as remembered, a 90mm gun armed vehicle.
Don't forget to put on Beethoven's 9th symphony while you're at it! "That! Using Ludwig van like that! He did no harm to anyone. Beethoven just wrote music!" 😳😱😭😭😭
I thought I knew a lot about Shermans. I have been humbled and proven wrong. The only ones I knew about was the T10, Aberdeen proving ground M4 Improved and the Persman (M4/T26 but I like the name you came up with for it.) the latter two thanks to WoT and WT. I think I use to know about the T53 but it had faded from my memory. I had expected some of the more well known cursed variants but it was nice to see some of the lesser known oddities like from Argentina and Israel not being the M-51.
I'm surprised you didn't include the Sherman BARV deep wading recovery vehicle made for use after D-day clearing drowned vehicles from the beaches. Or the Post-war Vickers Shervick tractors (basically a surplus sherman chassis converted into a heavy industrial tractor.)
Sad that the T33, T68, and T52 weren’t on this list, but still a good list. Hadn’t heard of the Israeli rocket Shermans before, but otherwise they are all familiar to me.
When I was a kid in the 1960s, there was a gutted Sherman hull, in the playground of a local park. It was filled with sand, and the main gun barrel was welded shut. All the small protrusions, were also removed and resulting holes welded and ground smooth. Just something for the kids to climb over. Next to it was an old firetruck, similarly modified.
YOOOO ARGENTINA MENTIONED ANOTHER CORONACIÓN DE GLORIA Jokes aside, my dad did the mandatory military service and was the loader of a Repotenciado in 1974. Luckily, he was too old to fight in Malvinas in 1982
3:00 No wonder you are so confident that we can't guess all of your picks. You included this only-on-drawing-board “variant” instead of those actually fought on battlefields and failed miserably, like the DD variant with only 2 out of almost 80 made it to the shore at Omaha Beach.
Were the Sherman to ever be sold to the public the T-10 is exactly what they'd look like in every hood and every small town south of the Mason Dixon line. In Los Angeles they would have also gone through a spinner phase (a trend that that thankfully died out a while back).

But where's the M-50 Degem Yud, the lowrider Sherman?
Have to be honest, didn’t know about the Argentinian one as well as the Israeli-an rocket one. Would love to see more kind of videos like these ones with the T34 and panzer iv
Some people say the SO-122 fate is unknown It might be in a Museum in the Balkans somewhere Even to this day its Secrets are kept for unknown reasons Despite been Bosnian Myself and wanting the Tank to be seen in History with greater details
#4 had me smiling and it absolutely needs to be added to the Israel tech tree in War Thunder. For #1, the T53 (gunshield) is worse. I approve of the T53E1 (box) for both the better center-of-gravity location of the main gun and the better protection for the crew.
Beautiful all of them. Too bad they werent really used. The ones developed in ww2. Instead of building m10 tank destroyers you could have had the sherman td with the 90mm. Would have made it easier to build more rather than focusing on different types of vehicles.
You should’ve added the t11 , it’s a Sherman with several hedgehog mortar round launching tubes on the front, it’s still around and it’s at a museum called armor and cav museum down in ft Moore, great place btw
More suggestions: 1. More uncanny valley than cursed, but that (another) Israeli Sherman that had its upper part of the hull shortened. Definitely a "something's wrong with it, but can't point out what" thing 2. IDK if actually real (pics I saw online are very low quality), but apparently, the Japanese experimented with a Sherman up-engined with a turbine. Doubly-cursed because the trials supposedly resulted in a death
Ngl, before the vid I guessed the Sherman with Pershing turret ( due to the thumbnail) Argentinian Sherman ( LATAM shermans do be wildin ) M4 Improved ( I played wot ) The SO-122 ( why tf not, fucking Yugoslavia lolmao ) T10 Mine exploder ( World of tanks again, but actually from their paper modelling scene ) T31 ( I found this one due to Reddit and D day) M4 FL-10 ( World of tanks, lol ) Edit: paper modelling scene not scheme oops
Enjoyed the video and learn quite a bit, but was slightly disappointed that the Skink didn't even make it to the honorable mentions. Oh well, to each their own.
Imagine if the Argentines used those Shermans in the Falkland war. The British could have been facing tanks that were once driven by their dads, only to be tainted by cursed French parts.
I was pleasantly surprised by how many of these were actually new to me. I wasn't really happy with the vine boom sound effect being used to introduce almost every single number though. Adding memes to your content should always focus on achieving the best timing and quality, not just being thrown in with everything like it's table salt.
Well since I'm a War Thunder enjoyer myself I have encountered the odd Sherman variant myself so I'll take a guess. - T26 turret - Skink AA At least two of Hobart's funnies so: - Crab minesweeper - Duplex Drive amphibious 'showercurtain' - Israeli M51 Super Sherman Jamming in a gun sideways is both genius and cursed so - Firefly - Calliope - another Israeli abomination, the MAR 240 sideways rocket pod
I am both humbled and amazed at these abominable Sherman variants, most of which I'm not familiar with. More the wiser, thanks for another interesting vid
I also really like the Sherman Railgun. This one had extra engine in the sponson ( ford V8 or V6, but I'm not sure on that one). I only fired couple of rounds ( well darts basically) before the barrel needed to be changed. Still a cool WW2 concept, and definately unique
I'm surprised you didn't mention the T105, Chilean M60, 75mm Krupp Sherman, Indian Sherman armed with the D56-T 76-mm, T52 MGMC or the T36 GMC to name a few
My Father was stationed at Aberdeen before he went to the Pacific in WW2. He had pictures of the T28 but none of these Sherman variants so most others are new to me except for the Israeli variants and the Demo Tanks. Dads been gone since 2015 so I can't even ask him which ones he saw! To me all of the Greatest Generation are National Treasures!
The Skink will forever in my heart be the #1 cursed “Sherman” even though it was based off the Grizzly, the Grizzly just looks like an off brand Sherman
I'm not surprised that I was unaware of so many versions of the Sherman but I was a little shocked that the Duplex Drive didn't show up here. For all the faults or vonrability you might normally associate with the M4 - drowning at sea wasn't normally a danger to the crew in most variants. Okm it did work well enough for small rivers and lakes, but still how many other tanks need the crew to wear life-jackets?
I had read a book on the Sherman Tanks while stationed at Fort Knox Kentucky. The only one that I missed was the 155mm box Sherman. I also liked the book so much I bought it. There is a lot of odd Sherman Tanks that did succeed in the job but they were designed for.
One you could have noticed IMO was the ''E'' vehicle with special stowage, wich was a Sherman with a new turret housing searchlight and a75mm gun, a prototype was built on a M4A1, but production vehicles were to be built on M4A3 chassis
Hard to keep count, was aware of the MLRS (why?), M26 turret, and some of the other "big noses" that never went into US production. But some the other foreign monstrosities, sheesh!
I never knew any of these baring the mine exploder. And I honestly was better off not knowing them. The last one was so cursed with that curved gun shield.
The Skink should be included in this list (Canadian Grizzly Sherman, with special quad 20mm turret; one vehicle saw very brief but extremely effective service, albeit in an anti-infantry & anti-materiel role).
What about the M4 Tulip? the one with RP-3 Rockets on the turret (not the calliope). although it probably wouldn't count as its own variant as other tanks were fitted with the rockets, i just think it's underrated.
My thoughts: -I fully expected the T52 to make it on the list. Basically a Sherman kugelblitz -I expected the Shrike launcher on the list, much prettier than the MAR-290 -I'm a big fan of the T-33. Imagine the T-31 but for flame throwers instead of rockets, only this one kind of lived on into a production vehicle with the POA flame thrower Shermans. Also it was an HVSS Jumbo, which just looks awesome -The Degem Yud really should have been on this list IMO. I'd argue it's the most unique post-war Sherman. The IDF wanted something lower profile to compete with the Soviet T-55, so they sawzalled the middle out - I feel like special mention should have been given to the Paraguay Repotenciadios since they were in service until 2018. They almost served into the Covid era!
To be fair, I couldn't guess which of the bazillion Shermans and Sherman-based vehicles you'd consider cursed so I gave up on guessing to begin with, but I knew only 4 of them before (and one of the honorable mentions), and the variants mentioned outside the list. I wasn't familiar with the Argentinian super Sherman, Israeli rocket Shermans, mine roller Sherman, demolition Sherman, and the 90mm spg Sherman, plus the second variant of the M4 Improved.

The video was posted 10 mins ago, but this comment was made 13 hr ago, how
I think chile made it, m50/51 with the 60mm high velocity gun. They also put that gun in the m24 Chaffee.
As for the Yugoslav Sherman tank with a 122mm gun, I know 100% that there actually were two, because they were located in my military base where I served in the army. That was some 20 years ago. The M4 Improved as it's known in WoT looks like a Schmalturm Sherman

I had a pencil sharpener that was a cursed Sherman design. An M4 Sherman with Sd.Kfz. 251 suspension
i have one of these too, but have no idea how or where i got it.
The Argentinian one looked cool and sounded reasonable since they upgraded the engine as well

-The Degem Yud really should have been on this list IMO. I'd argue it's the most unique post-war Sherman. The IDF wanted something lower profile to compete with the Soviet T-55, so they sawzalled the middle out
- I feel like special mention should have been given to the Paraguay Repotenciadios since they were in service until 2018.
I wasn't familiar with the Argentinian super Sherman, Israeli rocket Shermans, mine roller Sherman, demolition Sherman, and the 90mm spg Sherman, plus the second variant of the M4 Improved.
the basic sherman looks cursed enough. Only M3 Lee has a more cursed standart design
The T31 demo tank is something that came straight out of Warhammer 40K
no 4 has a full sized door! -we finally have something to compare with the shitbarn aka fv4005
I’m sad u didn’t include the sexton, the QF ram or the skink :( thought for sure I’d see one of the crackpot Canadian tanks on here
The lead lined Sherman that took the two scientists to Ground Zero at the Trinity atomic bomb test site.
The Sherman tractor is by far my favourite Sherman variant.
