Schmalturm mentioned I remember playing the Pz IV S on WoT and liking it so much that I created my entire online persona around it It's just a super cool looking turret design to me, especially on the actual Panther F
I have it on WoT Blitz, one of my earlier premium vehicles. Definitely a great tank to have, just great turret and epic gun. Used to spam battles in it just to farm credits. The added weight though doesn't make it as fast as other Medium tanks
The only tank on my account that remained with it's original crew since the day I bought it when it wasn't premium, over 2k battles on it and never sold it and with the same crew, despite WG took it from and replace it with a regular PzIV and then re-sale it later as a premium tank.... that I bought at the first day it was available 😅
Never expected he Hydrostat Pz IV and the Pz IV S to be a real deal, so is the concepts for some of WoT's iconic tank destroyers like the Waffentrager Auf Pz IV
I think of the WT, only the Wt Auf E100 doesn't have some real world history...afterall Rhm Borsig, Steyr WT and Wt Auf pz IV were the 3 designs from the Waffentragger project
I didn't expect the Sturmpanzer IV (Brummbär), because it just really makes sense for WW2 Germany. It's basically the original short 7.5cm-armed StuG III (variants A to E) concept updated to 1943. I honestly think the ultra-low Jagdpanzer IV and especially the absurdly armored and armed Panzer IV/70(V) are weirder because they're a new concept and just really extreme designs.
As a chronic WarThunder & former WOT player, along with being a huge ww2 history nerd and with watching a lot of your other tank videos I unfortunately know or have heard about all of these. However for the effort you put in your content you can keep my like :)
The modified panzer IV, with a Soviet gun, is still in the "Museum of combat glory", It received a fresh coat of paint, but I would assume that, a restoration wont happen soon, if ever, since the museum is or was way underfunded. Since august of last year the museum has been renovated, and I hope the same happens to the tanks there. If you are interested, next time I'm there, I could ask the workers for more details and the history of this particular tank. 🙂
I would have listed either the Heuschrecke-10, Minenraumgerate-IV, or 5cm KwK39 L/60 Pzkpfw-IV Ausf.D instead of the Schmalturm Pzkpfw-IV since the latter was simply a Krupp proposal that was never considered for development, while the former three were all built as prototypes.
That rocket launcher one at No.3 is extra weird because the turret appears to be a heavily modified and rearward-facing regular Pz.IV turret, at least from the hatches on the side and shape of it.
You could also mention Tauchpanzer 4 which is a panzer 4 variant projected for the operation "seelöwe". it was capable of moving on the bottom of the lakes, rivers and seas at depth reaching about 10- 15 meters. the same thing was also made for panzer 3
The Landwasserschlepper has actually had two variants - the one presented is the Panzerfärher Landwasserschlepper II; the original Landwasserschlepper had a cabin like a boat, and was built on a different chassis, so the LWS II was an almost complete redesign.

One thing I find interesting as a long-time model builder is how many of these "Weird Panzer IV Variants" are currently available in conventional, injection molded kit form, (unfortunately, this does not include the first one shown with the hydrostatic drive . . . yet . . . .) A big part of this is that these 'weird' and "one-offs" are still pretty standard "from the waist down," making it more economical for model manufacturers to kit these unusual variants. Back in the day, Monogram Models not only had the Panzer IV, but also the Sturmgeschutz, Sturmpanzer, Panzerjaeger IV, and two Anti-Aircraft versions in their 1/32nd scale Armor Series. Tamiya and Italeri did likewise in 1/35th scale. Very nice video. Also, for the next time, one tiny correction. Please don't call the Pzkpfw IV the workhorse of the Wermacht. It wasn't. Military History Visualized made a good video about it, and it really shows why the Pzkpfw IV is far from a backbone, with the Pzkpfw III and Panther being far closer to being one.
What about the PzKw IV "Munitionsschlepper"? The vehicle that was modified to carry rounds for the Mörser Karl? That would have been a good addition to the list, especially since it was actually produced vs being an imagined vehicle. You did not give me new varients, but I still put a like on it, as I did like it.
That had some new ones for me in as well, good work Sir. Personally, my favorite Panzer IV variant is the D/H. Starting as an infantry support and ending up with more then double the armor in some places in a combat tank role, some of those tanks really saw the long road of world war II. It may be not a really good tank, more a medicore jack of all trades, but seeing how long it was kept in service and how many upgrade programs the Panzer IV ran through, including it's experimental variants, shows that it had a really versatile base design to work with.
I wasn't aware they tried to make the Panzer IV float😮 I knew they made the Tauchpanzers, sorry if I got the spelling wrong, but never knew they tried to make it into a boat. Even if I had been able to take my like back, I'd like anyway. You're videos are very informative and interesting. I share them with all my tank nerd friends😁
I got my like back because you forgot about the engineering variant the Bergepanzer 4, it would be a great idea to make a video on it because i think it's pretty interesting
I actually knew the Field Mod. Panzer IV with the 88. My Father told me about it and there are even model-kits of it if I recall correctly. And I knew all, until that Recoilless Gun Pz IV came up, after from there on it was Unknown territory for me.
If we are counting STUG IV as a PZ IV variant, then PZ IV isnt the most produced tank by germans in WWII. This title belongs to PZ III, because of the production of STUG III (if i think correctly)
The Panzer IV is personally my favorite tank in history, so it's nice to learn about many of the weird variants of the tank. And I'd like to see a video on the Schmalturm turret and its history with both the Panzer IV and Panther.
I honestly didn't know most of these. But by far, my favorite was No.2 that honestly was an interesting design, like a German version of the the Type-4 Special Launch "Ka-Tsu"
I'd really like to see some "Cursed by Faint Praise" videos about recovery vehicles, command units, radio carriers, and other equipment that played a tremendous role - but are rarely remembered since they didn't carry guns.
Only the one with the Recoil-less I didn't know, I wouldn't let it count because it was never produced but I'll let you keep the like as I genuinely liked the vid. Keep up the great work!
Anyone who has played both WoT and WT probably knows most of these. But that one about the flak 88 on the panzer 4 chassis and some of those very last ones got me. I was expecting the flak one to be the VFW but no it wasn't... Very interesting.
My favorite was the Brumbarr. Also, i met an old Pz Iv ace from the eastern front. He was amazing to talk to. And yeah, i gave him a hug, ad thanked him for surviving to tell his story. And yes, i am jewish and he cried when i simply said, i am glad you survived, and to have met you.
I once met a Chukcha tank ace from Chukotka and he told me many secrets about the T-34. I asker him how he survived, he said he covered himself in horse piss which scared the Germans away. Very interesting person
As far as I know the bulgarian T4G/ZiS-3 (bulgarian designation for Pz IV with ZiS-3) is in the process of repair and making it capable of running on its own engine
Another great video! At 3:56, a company called Dragon Models made a version of this tank in 1:35 scale. I actually am modifying a Panzer 4 to create this tank at the moment. Really cool to see it here! Keep up the great work ConeOfArc!
There isn't much to report on. It was a basic Krupp blueprint proposal submitted in November 1944 which was rejected by WaPruf-6 (automotive design office) a couple months later. The drawing depicted a Panther Scmalturm set on an new larger superstructure mounted onto a Pzkpfw-IV Auf.J chassis. No one ever considered it a viable design to be developed further.
Well you introduced me to 5 Panzer IVs, the Bulgarian, the 125mm? If I remember correct. The 3 gunned one, and the last two. Well you deserve a like my man.
Because probably he choose the most weirds. Zerstörer 45 was only a vierling with 2 mk103 (exist 1 picture and is tottaly different and drawings knowed), ammo carrier you have almost 6 differents. Another flak variants include a 37mm flak 18, pz4 with 20mm flakvierling (not wirbelwind), 2 versions of Ostwind 2 (37mm flakzwilling 43 and naval M43), and almost 4 more...
One minor correction: Pz.Kpfw. IV was not a workhorse of Wehrmacht's Panzer forces. It's production run was chaotic/all over the place. It wasn't until 1944 that it's production peaked. However, even then, more PzKpfw Panther was produced in the same period. So, what was the Germany's workhorse tank? Answer: None. Unlike the Allies, Axis forces used what they had in quantities at that time and in the particulate theatre. This was the result of Third Reich's bureaucratic hell (Hölle, since Hell, Helles in German language means light, bright or pale, Hellbier for example), and constant focus shift.
"I Had No Idea" the Germans were first with multi Recoilless rifles on a tank? Or they had the floating armor un armed. I grew up under the shade of the GREATEST GENERATION some very involved with the ETO and tracked Armor. Thanks for keeping These Mighty Men ALIVE in History! RIP! Greatest!
This video makes me think that someone should do this with the 251 with so many variants available from the stuke zu fuss with the howling cow , via the normal 2 mg34 basic one to the flamethrower one and so many more.

I love your videos, I just ate wings to like a couple of ur videos. Not only did i like but I also subscribed. Keep up the good work !

The SFX is goofy but I like it
That had some new ones for me in as well, good work Sir.
Cone of art could you make a video about the Researchtree to the sturmtiger, its in the console version. Third attempt

Ok, you win hands down, very interesting, thank you for such an interesting variety of the mk 4.
Happy easter guys! :)))
I got my like back because you forgot about the engineering variant the Bergepanzer 4, it would be a great idea to make a video on it because i think it's pretty interesting
10:39 if you took your like back your a liar
Well that's a few new to me. I've been a mavin of WWII vehicles and planes since the 70's! Good show!
You win.
I did not know about #1.
“Like” fully earned.
The ferry and bridge variations I did not know of as the recoiless one.
I actually knew the Field Mod. Panzer IV with the 88. My Father told me about it and there are even model-kits of it if I recall correctly. And I knew all, until that Recoilless Gun Pz IV came up, after from there on it was Unknown territory for me.
Great video as always.
Jokes on you, im severely autistic and knew all of these. Keep your like and sub tho!
You had me at the very first one... I've not ONCE heard of a fluid-run ANYTHING, much less PZIV.
New editor? It's bad. If this keeps up you'll join the long list of channels I left, because they started appealing to 12yos.
Nice work there are so many strange panzer options
I thought we would get the one that drove with a wood fed engine xD
If we are counting STUG IV as a PZ IV variant, then PZ IV isnt the most produced tank by germans in WWII. This title belongs to PZ III, because of the production of STUG III (if i think correctly)
Panzer 4 is by far my favorite, thanks girl und panzer lol
This is the most unhinged tank channel I've ever found.

Wow, you introduced me to a lot of Panzer 4 designs that I did not know. Great video!

You did deliver the goods.
That twin ferry design was the most interesting for me.
Great video
That was a really informative video to me
thanks man
I would like to see more on the pz.IV schmalturm and, thank you for making wonderful tank vids.
Surprised you did’t mention the Ausf K, which never left the drawing board. Redesigned hull for sloped armor.
Heard of most of them except for the idea with the panzer f turret and the one with the infantry bridge
Thanks for letting me know more about obscure tank variants
I myself have a book on the Panzer 4 and all of Her proposed variations and so forth and so on indeed!.
I learned there were some Pz IV variants I wasn't familiar with! Go Cone!
Well you introduced me to 5 Panzer IVs, the Bulgarian, the 125mm? If I remember correct. The 3 gunned one, and the last two.
Well you deserve a like my man.
Well done Cone ✌️
Very good vid as usual on your channel, but why didnt you include the Ammo carrier or Flakpanzer variants, especially the Kugelblitz and Zerstörer 45?
Because probably he choose the most weirds.
Zerstörer 45 was only a vierling with 2 mk103 (exist 1 picture and is tottaly different and drawings knowed), ammo carrier you have almost 6 differents. Another flak variants include a 37mm flak 18, pz4 with 20mm flakvierling (not wirbelwind), 2 versions of Ostwind 2 (37mm flakzwilling 43 and naval M43), and almost 4 more...
I didn't take my like back. However, I have seen these before. You are the only one to show them. They are footnotes in archives
I lost the wager within the very first entry. Well played, Mr.Cone...
