Thank you, Bing, for the awesome explanation! I just ordered a Ron Ewing dulcimer with the 1 1/2 fret and I look forward to exploring all the possibilities. I hope it won't be too hard!!

Excellent presentation in all respects, thank you. Exactly what I wanted to learn about, I’m new to dulcimer and I just got a new-old-stock 1984 McSpadden and I see that
I need to add a 1-1/2 fret. Will do!

Thanks again. I have a fret saw (thought I might build a guitar once but never got too far) and I got some of the right wire (Dunlop 6240, btw) from my friend Frank Ford, so the old dulcimer now has a perfectly-placed 1-1/2 fret.
I hate to take time away from my guitar-playing, need all the time I can get, but this dulcimer is so "dulce"! I'll try to learn your Norwegian Wood, looks pretty easy.

@Dulcimerist I don't play in DGD too much, but it's one of those tunings that is probably next on my exploration list.

That's "Norwegian Wood" - and I'll be teaching it in the second half of the video, which is being uploaded this evening. Thanks for watching!

Have you done the DGd tuning much? That's helped me to avoid the need for the 1 1/2, for the most part. I flip between DAd and DGd a lot, since it's just one string to move. :)

Bing dude what is the name of that song at the beginning? It is on the tip of my tounge and I can't think of it, it is driving me nuts. Do you have a link to the tabs?
    Great video thanks.
