Those great men's only daughters seem to go that way! They circumnavigate marriage! This is the case of Dinah, Jacob's only daughter; Tamar, David's only; there is also some guy in Judges, though his daughter was not raped, had to forfeit marriage because of her father's vow to God, to give God the first person he sees when he returns from a successful campaign, and guess who came running to meet him after his victory?!! His only daughter! It seems as though, they are teaching us something about these men. The question is: do these girls have their treasure stored up for them in heaven? Such that they do not require earthly blessing? Why the misfortune? Why should the world hate them for no good reason? Is it persecution of these great men? Consider the case of Saul's daughter Michal. Torn from her marriage to David, married to another, and then also torn from him! Brought back to David, a thing which should not even happen because she has already been defiled by another man and there is even a law against that. So she comes back to David as a trophy wife only. Only to be struck by barrenness, which I don't think proceeded from just her pride in telling off David about dancing hard in the streets, but also because she had returned to David after that she had been defiled by another man - something that the Lord expressly says He hates in the law against it. All the circumstances around her are unfavourable for a blessing coming towards her! On top of that she grew up in a home that sees dancing differently from David, and she airs her opinions to her detriment! Unfortunate if you ask me. No one would want to be a daughter to any of these great men of God, as seen from ' earthly eyes,' but who knows what was in store for all these girls in heaven?!!
