this is the job I want to do when I’m older, my exact dream job, lighting at wicked west end but my parents think technical Theatre isn’t a viable career and I’ve worked so hard in it
I'm not sure what it's like in the UK, but here in the USA, theatre technicians are always in demand. If you major in technical theatre, you are guarenteed to get a job because people need you. As someone who is a theatre major in the USA, my friends who focus their major on technical theatre are the ones who get really good jobs immediately after college. You probably won't get a job at West End immediately after obtaining your degree, but if you accept the jobs that are offered to you, you could definitely work your way up!
i want to work at wicked as a dresser (more for glinda but idm who) in the west end but i also want to work as a child nurse and a child nurse is more needed (luckily i’m only in year 9 so i haven’t done gcses or a level/btec
Yeah it's true the only time you will see the green spotlight on her is in no good deed as it's a very bright green that they use for the spot but all the other times it's very subtle
It's true, and they do a very good job of training it right on her face so it's not especially noticeable. When I first saw Wicked I was in the second-to-last row and noticed the spotlight as it seemed to be coming from right over my shoulder.
I LOVE these videos! So brilliant to see how different elements of the show come together, I've seen the show quite a lot but am constantly learning new things about it, love it!
I heard in one of the West End backstage videos that Elphie always has a green spotlight on her, but I don't really see this in any of the proshots (unless it's super subtle). Is it true?
momentarilylapse 5 years late. Big I hear that, most of the time she does. For example, she does in "The wizard and I", "Defying Gravity" and "No Good deed"
Well, OK... so, my friend has HW to do for online school, called me up tired & sleepy, but explained to me that what she has to learn on lighting is like "rocket science"! I couldn't help but laugh as I thought it was exaggerated. Just before I came on here, I visited some of the links she gave me from her online school pg. And what I saw, I swear may produce me nightmares!!!! She wasn't kidding. So, now, I have no idea how I'll be able to help her. Sounds 1 things. But the lighting? OMFG!!!! o_____. Any1 know how to simplify this???

@@charlottehitchin4986 yeah i have snap! it’s @eli0_019 (if ur on about me lol)
I've always wondered about this! Lighting is my favorite part of theater.
Series like this one gave me the drive to persevere in the industry of LX. I now work in the industry and have been for many years professionally.
this is so so my favorite show
I can't wait to see Wicked here in the Philippines! Wicked is my favorite musical! :))

It is that subtle. She has a faint green spotlight through every scene to allow her skin to pop.
ok
I wish I knew what colors of gels they used! Halloween is coming up very soon and I would LOVE to use this sort of lighting in my yard-haunt!
The follow spot operators are the unsung heroes of this show.
Yeah, "Defying Gravity" has AMAZING lighting!
Why is the shot with Lindsay and Sean flipped? Look at the logo on their shirts...
David Cherrie Get it? They're behind the curtain.
I so wish i could join up with y'all
Beautiful
Any idea what the DMX frame looking object is infront of the par at 1:32?
Might be a gel scroller or a gobo wheel of some kind
It’s a color scroller. The patterns you’re seeing on the stage are coming from one of the various Varilites hanging in the rig.

@ptoto22
I saw it back in March with Kate and Jackie and you're right, they're AMAZING!!!!
