    Played through this game after watching your review and could not disagree more, this is the most immersive shooter I have ever played and only had one instance of issues related to VR. This game is an absolute buy if you own PSVR.

      bmx7596 either you haven’t played good shooters or somehow you are abnormally immersed by VR. Game was super boring, environment and shootings was dull and walking was slow.

      @vitorjjb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agreed. Very accurate, used only the aim. Even moving fast did not loose track of the moviment. Only thing i agree, is that is the same rocky environment and so on... wish they use the same engine to create a FarCry VR

  • @ACGreviews
    @ACGreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +206

    Whoops called it Farcry lol
    As for the game.
    Played it with a group of folks including PSVR devs and some patrons.
    Its got some good moments but the Aim isn't at all required and with it or not it is a fairly lackluster experience as a game with with some high points.
    It has issues in many places and even with VR it is in the end just a lackluster shooter. Some will get magically sucked in, and that can last a bit but it ran out far before the end of the game did.
    Also wish there had been more than 1 boss battle but the mini boss stuff or more dangerous enemies were fun.

      ACG I been patiently waiting for this review , and you neber dissapoint..great review..never have regret any purchase after your reviews. Quick question. Gamersclub at BB had the bundle 20%off .. kinda puts the game at 33 bucks and controller 33 bucks ? is that a good price to pick up off of your recommendation ACG?

      Wow, I didn't realize the game was already out. It's a shame this game has the poor quality it does. I'm willing to bet the developers will be putting something out on the future with lessons learned.
      ACG, are you planning to do a review of the Forza Horizon Hot Wheels expansion?

I got it preordered with the AIM for only 45$ which really was a steal, but the coop mode with exhilirating waves of aliens really makes it for me. Anyways, im glad you still got some fun out of it, keep up the good work! (and VR reviews haha)

    A theory I heard is that this was a tech demo for the controller, that got picked up and given the budget and staff for a full(ish) release. Definitely worth picking up while the May month limited $60-$70 Farpoint+Aim bundles are still in stock though.

  • @michaelmichael2045

    I am really surprised at people's reactions to VR. Young people grow up with Playstation and Xbox and they can't take a hit in resolution. Looks like us 30/40 somethings are going to have to carry this one too. Maybe you'll be happy when we get to gen 3 VR.

    • @danieljohn9257
      @danieljohn9257 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly! If we don't support the quality VR games and devs, we'll never get to the gen 2 or 3 where all of our minds are truly blown.
      For me, I still have fun moving within the game worlds that we have had so far, in Dec 2018, on PSVR, even with the lower res games. Not every game is made to look realistic like RE7. It's a blast being in the cartoony world of Astro Bots!

    • @kingpin2psn
      @kingpin2psn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danieljohn9257 its likely another prime example of people expecting and demanding too much. I find its ruining the world we live in. Gripped this today and i know im going to love it, going to play in coop aswell.
      Us older gamers are the ones which will carry the torch for future development. Damn millenials lol ruining everything lol, sickens me im still classed as one even though i was born in 82

    I like to think of any early tech demo style games as concept games. It sounds like once they get VR done well, and make it affordable there will be NO other type of game people wish to play. I mean listening to you talk about this sounds divine even with the tech problems and such. Great review as always. As said look forward to how VR will change forever gaming, travel, science, medicine, medical and military and police training as well in the next 15 to 30 years.

    • @trashaimgamer7822
      @trashaimgamer7822 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's a rather bold claim. VR only works in first person. You think every other game or genre that uses a different perspective will suddenly fade away?

  • @Adam-M-
    @Adam-M- 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don't think it's worth it as a full priced game by itself. However I have really enjoyed the aim controller bundle and I also own Dick Wilde. Actually I highly recommend the aim controller. I've found that it feels great to use, increases immersion, and I haven't had any major tracking issues. For gun games it feels so much better than using the move controllers. My favorite moments in Farpoint usually involved looking down the sights and getting a long distance kill with the precision rifle. Now I just want a military game with M4s and Sniper Rifles, etc.

    I can't even play the game without the Aim controller because aiming with the Dualshock 4 is so weird and I have no idea why the developers thought that would be a good idea. I have decided to not play the game anymore until I can buy an aim controller.

    Farpoint seems like an interesting title. In terms of graphics, VR titles don't seem to have the visual polish that you get with typical console releases. Having said that, there are times when Farpoint looks good and at other times not so much. $50 for a 5 hour story is a bit on the steep side I have to admit. Having said that, It would be a cool title to pick up once the price goes down a bit. Karak posts a lot of content and every bit of it is top tier quality work and effort. To quote a famous person, "I am the best in the world at what I do". Thanks for being the best reviewer on TH-cam and thanks for another awesome high quality review. I greatly appreciate it!

    First off Happy New Year! You're the BEST! In my humble opinion though I disagree on the review. My mouth dropped the moment your ship is approaching Jupiter. Granted I am an astrology & space exploration die hard. But to experience something like that in vr was simply stunning..I agree that the story slowed at times. Particularly in the middle. But I thought the developers did a great job combining Starship Troopers, Prometheus, & Interstellar all in one game. While still though borrowing heavy from those titles, delivers it's own original story..The immersion was CRAZY good at times. And I thought the enemy variety & the amount were well placed & in good portions. The sense of scale & visual fidelity of the world & npcs was AMAZING! I actually walked into a RL wall as I couldn't help but study the pores, wrinkles, & imperfections of a characters face. To me, & I know I'm completely new to vr. I think for one of Sony's first full blown, big budget vr titles. They killed it. What other vr headset can offer the experiences Sony is putting out there at the moment. To me it felt very similar to the first time I played Halo umpteen years ago. In the regard that I KNEW what I was playing was special & going to redefine a genre. And that aim controller...The first time you look down the sights. Or stick your arm from around cover & blindly shoot out to take out an ememy..Gave me Goosebumps..I guess what I'm trying to say is, for still relatively becoming acclimated with the tech. Sony is KILLING it!! I NEVER felt these emotions while playing a game before. But like you said, when it's not a character on screen, but it's actually you in the game. It truly takes on a whole new meeting..I give Farpoint a strong B+..And I'm only more confident & excited to see what Sony continues to do next!! I highly recommend this game!!

    • @ACGreviews
      @ACGreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I dont. But even the PSVR devs I talk to have bumped into a tremendous number of issues with the tech and how to deliver a game within the proper subet of abilities the headset has. Its like being told you can now fly, but only barely above the ground and for like 10 seconds lol

      AngryJoe and ACG serve different purposes. ACG is for informing you about every game that comes out, while AngryJoe is for entertainment. Sure, Joe doesn't make many reviews, but the ones he DOES put out have an entertainment value unmatched by any other.

    • @mrschittzy2293
      @mrschittzy2293 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still 3 videos in 3 days is impressive, and the videos usually always come out on the day the game is released. You're taking the time to get these videos out for your fans or just someone who wants to know what the game is like. I think the reason why angry joe became such a slacker is cuz he's finally getting laid by the European chick that is mooching off of him. Again, thank you for your, interesting, knowledgeable & sometimes funny videos. ACG is my favorite game review channel. I can't wait to see what's next.

    • @bearpuns5910
      @bearpuns5910 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You realize that AngryJoe's reviews take MUCH longer to make than ACG's reviews, right? For ACG, you just have to play the game, write some bullet points, and talk about the game for 15-ish minutes while the gameplay plays in the background. With Angry Reviews, you have to play the game, write a WRITTEN review (much harder than unscripted bullet-point reviews), come up with ideas for skits, get the costumes (and possibly wait for costumes to arrive), film the review, and EDITING (SO MUCH EDITING!!!). The reason ACG can put out more reviews than Angry Joe is because he has a different format, which is totally okay. ACG is about informing the consumer about every game that comes out, and Angry Joe is about entertainment.

      Hairy MouseTurd have you seen angry Joes latest reviews? there not really entertaining anymore. angry joe and other joe are hilarious but it seems joe doesn't put enough effort into his reviews anymore. I find trailer reactions, let's plays, and movie reviews to be quite boring. most reviews take time to make and need editing. angry joe used to have videos come out more often, you gotta admit angry Joes reviews haven't been the greatest lately and you don't see many of them anymore cuz he's making other videos that aren't game reviews

    If VR can flourish in the coming years instead of being another Gimmick from the 80s that doesn't work I would personally love to see a CRYSIS VR if the tech does get better .Farpoint seems to set the fundamental's for what could be the next generation of FPS but I guess it will take time and a lot of money until we see something good , Unless of course this is Nintendo's virtual boy 2.0 or Kinect 3.0 in which case its dead on arrival.

      Not really, so far there is no THE game for Ps Vr, that will only happen if games like Battlefield 1, Overwatch, Far Cry 5, The Elder Scrolls 6 etc get involved in making the game in Standard and Vr modes, so basically when 80% of FPS games are on Vr as well as standard mode is here then it will be worth getting a Vr headset.

      AwesomeNick94 I agree w/ this 100%....if u have never played the game or even put on a headset then u have idea what ur talking about....this aim controller is a game changer and I hope and pray more shooters like this start coming out; just playing co-op last night was the most intense thing I've ever done in the gaming world

    this is a great game,hope they come out with like arena mode with 3 more boss battles or something. I'm so into vr, I can't be bothered with regular games anymore, I don't buy it unless it is vr.

  • @MR3DDev
    @MR3DDev 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is why I think it will take a lot to make VR appeal to more gamers. The thing of VR is to make you more "immersed" in the game world, yet that cluncly gun movement, downgraded graphics and restriction of movement keep taking you out of said immersion.

    I like the concept of VR but as it stands i wouldnt invest in one, the games seem real basic which is understandable, its newish right? for me to pull myself away from the games i love VR needs some games with more depth, maybe in 3 to 5 years VR will be more than a cool gimmick.

    • @ACGreviews
      @ACGreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure. Not with this tech. PSVR is insanely old when it comes to tech and that includes if you bought the move and then again bought the aim all on top of everything else.
      A vive wireless could do well but locomotion is the main issue and the main work that would need to be done

    *spoiler alert*
    I found the ending to be deeply frustrating. It leaves you with lots of unanswered questions, but not in cliffhangar kind of way that excites you and leaves you interested for a sequel. It leaves them unanswered in a way that is just annoying and kind of implies that there will be no sequel and all the plot holes will not be addressed. Why was that wormhole there? Why do these wormholes appear on that planet every ten years? Why do ships from lots of different alien civilizations tend to get sucked into these wormholes and crash there? What was the alien tower that pops out of the wormhole? Why does it kidnap lifeforms of the surface? What happened when the dumb kid tried to go talk to it? What would have happened if the protagonist had made it through the wormhole before it closed? Were you dead at the end? Was that white space heaven? An alien prison?

    Disagree, I think the game controls great and weapons feel awesome with the included gun controller. Tracking was not big issue for me, but did freak out in a couple of instances. The game is a large corridor shooter and feels taxing like any call of duty campaign at times. The enemies require strategy and ai feels good. The game is hard though and I only play in short bursts due to it. Great proof of concept, has decent content, and well worth the investment!

    Sadly it's a vicous cycle where no company will truly invest in VR because no one has a VR setup and no one's gonna buy a VR setup until companies truly invest in a VR game. Somebody has to take a risk and hopefully the Scorpio makes Sony nervous enough to back a good VR title.

      On seeing more than a trailer it reminds me a lot of borderlands without the attitude, punk aesthetics or weird gun combos (that made me hate the franchise outside of co-op due to the terrible gunplay)

    This game was $50? Yeesh. I picked up an Aim controller recently and wanted to try out this game since it was a showcase for the Aim controller. The game had its cool moments, but it was just ok. It had attempts at story which I paid attention to, but otherwise came off as a tech demo. 6/10. And short - 5ish hours. Resident Evil 7 and Dirt Rally still reign as my best VR experiences.

  • @Maidiac

    I watched a bit of the Eurogamer 90 minute gameplay and noticed 2 things that would drive me nuts that you never mentioned.
    1. The gun always seems to lean securely to the left.
    2. The gun shakes violently a lot of the time.
    Is that just a capture issue that isn't in the headset or is it actually like that?

    • @ACGreviews
      @ACGreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      had it sometimes. The PSVR devs who were with me when reviewing it tried to fix it and I think they mitigated it somewhat. But even they don't think its perfect so...take that as you will.
      As for gun leaning that might be because many times aiming too high or low your cutting off the aiming of the camera and sometimes it just loses it shit. so they might be side aiming it. Not sure.

    • @jhowson3748
      @jhowson3748 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's almost entirely from the capture. There is some very very small shaking that can be seen with the headset on, but it's virtually undetectable if you're holding the aim controller correctly.
      As for the leaning left, I've put in 6 to 7 hours on FarPoint and have never seen that in-game. The gun stays exactly where you hold the controller, unless you go outside the camera's field of view.
