    Ms.B. you are a wonderful teacher. I noticed how shy you are when it comes to singing. But we all understand that you are a brilliant brilliant uke teacher and not a pop star. So head up and stand proud. God bless you Ms. B.

      I am getting the feeling that certain people many not know what they are doing. There is a picture in the booklet that came with my ukulele where a man is showing you how to hold the ukulele and he is laying his thumb and the bottom of his palm lengthwise across the top of the neck, and bending his fingers arond the neck, which makes no sense to me, because you can't curve your fingers if you want to play on the top string. I am only paying attention to Bernadette for now.

    Here trying to play this song to cope with the anxiety I've been feeling all week. These are very hard and scary times but music has always been my escape and I'm glad we all have you, the best ukulele teacher ever! (: I hope whoever reads this is doing well. Hang in there. 2020's been rough but we got this! (:

    You are a marvelous teacher! I love when you say "look, look , look!" somehow knowing that we are all hunched over our fingerboards instead of watching you demonstrate. :) I'm a 65-year-old woman trying to keep my mind challenged and (relatively) nimble; learning ukulele stretches me in new directions and (surprisingly often) produces pleasing music. Thank you for helping even we old dogs learn new tricks!

    To whoever might be confused . The bridge session applies for lyrics “imagine all the people leaving for today” “imagine all the people living life in peace,you” and “imagine all the people sharing all the world,you” and the chorus version is for lyrics “You may say .... will be as one”

    THANK YOU for the little in-between tips and tricks on how to transition between tricky chords... I have a “teaching” app that came with my uke, but it seems their motto is “just change chords, it’s no big deal”, and it gets frustrating to keep getting tangled fingers and not be able to keep up. With your tips, I’m catching on much faster, so it’s more fun to practice even if I don’t have it all down yet.

    Love these printables! They help so much when I need to review a lesson. And today I just found out how to access all of the 30 Uke challenge videos in one spot and found "time stamps".....very helpful. Before, I was jumping around looking for the next video. Can you tell I'm new to TH-cam? LOL. Your lessons are so easy to follow and I'm being challenged every day. Thank you! My biggest challenge is that when I finally get the strumming down, I can't sing the tune properly. I think I'm rhythm challenged. I can't seem to do both the strumming.....keeping the beat and singing at the same time plus chord changes. Any suggestions? Also could you add a subtitle on the printouts under Ukulele challange with Day 1, 2, 3, etc? It took me a while to figure out that you put them in sequence by the Video 1, 2, 3 as I tend to look first at the bigger title on top. You're doing a fantastic job as a uke teacher....keep it up! I look forward to each lesson.

    I purchased at Uke at the start of lockdown, figured always wanted to learn an instrument and at 50 years young, now seemed like a good time to start. I'm really enjoying the 30 day challenge and thabjs to Bernadette, this us starting to seem achievable. I am trying to over come the mental block of being terrible get chord G to sound nice.... a bit hit and miss, this is also hindered by lack of feeling in the middle finger having damaged tendons when I was a child.... so even though i can't feel the string, this i believe will come with muscle memory (I hope). Loving this program. Had a hard time getting the the f cord. Now hitting it 75%, G chord is tough for me, but love the sound when I get it. Thinking 3 weeks of practice on this instead of one. Totally enjoying learning the Ukulele. Look forward to the next lesson.

    Practicing with others also motivates learning, especially if your practice partners are more experienced musicians. They understand mistakes are common in the beginning, and so can reassure you.

    Miss B thank you so much for sharing the knowledge with us.... I always wanted to pay ukelele but felt bit old for traditional lessons. Finally got myself one this week and doing your 30d challenge though in 4days moved already here. You amazing and it’s being great to learn/play along with your videos.
    Thanks 😊

    I love learning this song! I have been practicing John Lennon's Imagine over and over for the past week. It used to be very hard for me to transition from the F chord to the G chord, but now I am finally transitioning better -yay! Also, I'm happy that I finally memorized it! One thing I did struggle with initially when trying to sing and play at the same time was noticing that the 2nd-5th lines in the Bridge section (starting from "Imaging there's no countries...") didn't sound right with the chords shown in the handout (F// Am// Dm// F// G/// C/ G7/). I later discovered that the 2nd-5th lines in the Bridge should be the same as the chords played in the Intro & Verse (C// Cmaj7// F////). I made a notation on the printout you provided. :) I wonder if it might be helpful to post some sort of correction/update, esp. for folks who are just getting to Day 15 Imagine ? (Although, I do have to admit that it felt like a good way to "test" if I am actively learning and paying close attention to detail... haha :D )

    • @yulelad
      @yulelad 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, I noticed the same! Good to find I'm not wrong, hehe :) And btw, how did you do to get better to go from F to G? I'm really struggling with that transition :S Doesn't matter how slow I try to go, I actually need to stop playing as I move all my fingers

      Tips? My struggle is F to G, practicing but i feel im getting a bad habit of holding the chords to move my hand up to be able to change, like in a desperate attempt to change on time. Haha. Its hard from F to G.

    • @2011hib
      @2011hib 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yulelad What I found is that I move the ring 3rd finger to the third fret then follow with the other two fingers on top. This is backwards of how I have set up G before this.

    • @2011hib
      @2011hib 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anapaniagua4546 Try anchoring the third finger on the G chord first and moving the other twos fingers into place on the 2nd fret. That is backwards from the way I usually play G.

    I bought my Ukulele less than 3 weeks ago and your videos have made so enjoyable the learning progress, so a big thank you Bernadette! I feel quite dumb when I (try to) follow other teacher on TH-cam, maybe because I'm too much of a beginner! 😂 Your explanations are crystal clear and I am practicing everyday! ♥

    I just discovered these videos and they are so helpful. We are in lockdown in Australia so this 30 day challenge is great. Fortunately I have music background so following Bernadette's wonderful explanations easy. Great teacher! I need to learn how to co-ordinate the strumming and singing, this is my challenge. Hints on how to do this will be welcomed.

    This one is a challenge. But I'm loving it. Sometimes when I play a chord one or two strings don't sound clear. A bit wooden. Though if I test them one by one, they're fine. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what my problem could be.

    I'm learning to play ukelele with this course and I'm enjoying it but it's definitely a challenge! For some reason, I have to really think about what I want to do and focus hard to go from Dm to F. It's like a mental block and it's as if my ring finger is stuck on the fret.

    Another great lesson. I'm kind of binge learning in chunks when I have the time and energy ha ha. 1 suggestion for this video (feel free to ignore if you want) - would be good to have a bit at the end where you play it all in one go from start to finish - not sure about other people but once I have the notes down I like to have it all in 1 section so I can just play it over and over until I get it right without having to skip the early teaching bits for each section.

    Hello and thank you for these challenges. I’m probably very late but hopefully this will help someone with the chord changes. I used my ring finger for C and Cmaj7 since I need my ring finger at the first string second fret for E7. This way, my ring finger is the anchor for Cmaj7 and E7. Happy playing!
