VS, I still love this vid. I watch it every now and then to remind myself how stupid I am for taking a job that forced me to relocated and have to sell it. When I get my next one, I'll be driving right back up to you guys again. Thanks VS!
@hugosm3 Not on this kit. It is VF Engineering's VF-420 which is their street sport kit. Its not till the stage 1 where the air to water set up is installed.
Great video! Was it a regular E46 or a M3? (asking because of the "M"-engine cover) Because I didn't catch you replacing the turbo charger then. If it was an usual BMW, was it a 335i? How much performance increase does the super charger deliver? How does the increase vary for a smaller engine e. g. a 320i? Thx in advance!
hey bro, e46 never came in 335i.. 330 was next to m3 the limit. Its an m3. They had a high revving i6 Naturally aspirated with itbs, they never hard a turbo. The 320 isnt suited for a supercharger install, get a 3liter.
I own a 2004 BMW 325i with 140000 miles. Any suggestion about installing a supercharger on a vehicle with this high mileage? Do you think it's worth it and how much would it be including labor? Thanks, Banner
David LaHaie Nothing wrong about pretending David.....actually sometimes wanting it is better than having it, BMW M3 is my second favourite car.....1st is Porsche.....enjoy dude !
the employee who came up with this idea, however simple, should get a bigger christmas bonus for earning over 50,000 reach on youtube for VF Motorsports
+Danielle Woods tnx guys i have already install all parts with 3000$ 3 times i have failed but in 4 is already a monster after this video... i will upload some video about my BMW for proof
turbo's weigh less, prety much do the same thing, save you fuel(you're producing more power without having to burn as much fuel) and sound a hell of a lot cooler when they spool up haha
Kyle Kinsella and your also forgetting you deal with turbo lag superchargers are boost in demand and constant and more consistent power so sorry but turbos are not bad but they aint better than a supercharger
+JC B ''...make sure you have a good blow off valve or the air trapped inside when you let off while making boost will bust your crank in half!'' This is literally the dumbest thing I've ever read. You should do more research and understand what you're talking about.
Yeah, but you do know that the BOV is to prevent damage to the turbo or supercharger right? Once the throttle body is closed the excess boost has nowhere to go but back through the compressor, which is bad on turbine blades as you could imagine. Excess residual boost pressure is otherwise harmless, hence the lack of a need for a BOV in diesel engines due to there being no throttle body. This also why there is no need for a blow off "plate" or whatever type of complicated mechanism on a roots-type blower that is placed after the carb/throttle body. The cog system would be to prevent belt slippage on high boost applications, wherein the parasitic draw of the supercharger is greater. The belt design itself won't cause any of the issues you speak of or necessitate the use of a BOV in the way you mentioned. Have a nice day.
Right, know matter how much boost your running even if it's 5lbs and the belt is ready to snap it's so tight when you let off and it ain't a cog system your going to get slippage. And yes I knew the B.O.V. protects the blower/turbo and throttle body and clamps and couplings holding it together. Even though I went to a trucking supply store and bought the baddest clamps you ever seen for big turbo use on Mac trucks! Holding my stuff together.:-)
A lot of the time when someone has the option of either a blower or turbo set up and that person chooses a blower it's because they want to retain that NA feel while still making more power. Personally on an S54 I'd rather go with a blower and keep that NA feel and not ruin how the motor revs out. Overall though, I do prefer turbochargers to superchargers. There are always exceptions though.
wish all mechanics worked this fast.
Andrew B Wish I worked this fast.
+pillzownsu would be on mega bonus if i workee that fast lol
Who else would have been annoyed by that protective sheet slipping down little by little?
and then he put it on a side he wasn't working on, and then completely removed it. i found it unprofessional.
Couple of small neo magnets and problem solved would annoy the hell out of me 😂

i have a black m3 and this is probably dark blue but im gonna pretend that this is my car just to make myself feel better

Don´t know if this is too late to comment, but isn´t turbos way more efficient?
I´d choose turbo over supercharger.

Over priced like crazy and only 100hp increase pshhh fuck that I'd rather build a turbo kit for half the price and double the horsepower

Koney Dawg Thanks brother use to run an S-trim with a race bearing and a cog system on my mustang GT. 20 years ago, damn I'm getting old lol!
