I'm amazed of how modest your family and how polite your kids are.. Your wife's incredible, she's so friendly in front of the camera explaining how good the food she was eating.. great channel, pal Martin
wow such a quick reply..thank you pak martin.. I would suggest for your upcoming video, why don't you and your family take a tour to traditional market / night market in Yogyakarta? That would be so much fun.. Perhaps someday your family want to visit Surabaya , you can contact me on my email daniarindah@gmail.com and I can show you around interesting places in Surabaya like Arabian Market (Ampel) eating arabian food or Surabaya Culinary trip ..

nice post :) my friend took me lunch at Warung SS last week, at western of Jakarta. That was the 1st time, and the sambal was really good (maybe thats the main brand). I just realized that Warung SS is a franchise from Yogyakarta by watching this, thanks dude, enjoy your day :)
halo pak martin, kalo sempat coba saja makanan khas Pati, Jawa Tengah, namanya nasi gandul, lebih tepatnya di Warung Nasi Gandul Romantis, Gajah Mati, Pati :)
Hats off to you, Pak Martin! Even I who is used to eating sambal can't take two kinds of sambal like that simultaneously. I went to SS with a foreign friend of mine once, and he told me that he got stomach problem on the day after XD.
My favorite sambal is sambalado dompak. You can find it in Sumatera Barat (West Sumatera). The balance between spicyness from chilli and sour from dompak make a really good combination. I hope someday you'll get the chance to try it. Salam dari Padang. 🙏
Seth n Sara.. I can see you both do enjoy the foods.. and you really have a cool dad.. I'm missing Indonesia... but I wonder.. do you all really like sambal with shrimp pasta...?? I'm surprised.. :D
Di jogja ... ? Coba warung... gang kecil barat ambarukmo plasa ke utara... setelH indomart ada gang kecil ke arah timur...menu spesialnya aYam chadojo... super murah dan enak. Ada nasi gorengny juga. Saya selalu kesanA dulu dr mulai kecil sampai super rame
Hey Martin and Julia.. How're you? All of your videos are awesome, I'm so enjoy it a lot and get inspired to make the same thing but in reverse version. :D I'm an Indonesian guy (Yogyakarta ) who has been studying here in Houston, Texas for almost 8 months. Are you still in Yogyakarta? Because around 2 more months, I'll be back home.. Wish can meet you guys up there ..
Pernah makan sekali di Warung SS di kota Semarang...tumis kangkung / plecing kangkungnya enak...sambel mangga'nya enak. Tapi selama 3 tahun bekerja di Jakarta, saya belum pernah melihat warung SS di Jakarta
hello pak Martin, I live in Jakarta and there's an SS restaurant near my house, yep the sambals there are the best! haha. do you like seafood? next time you and your family eat there again, try their calamari (or cumi goreng tepung in bahasa). it's my favorite and it's very goood.
Find "nasi mercon" Pak Martin. It is known as the hottest dish in Indonesia, basically it's rice with teared meat with sambal (they usually use one of the hottest). BUT the comparison between the meat is 1:1 (mixing 10kg of meats and 10kg of chili). That one sure is spicy sir. Goodluck.
its little bit akward when you tear apart chiken and tempe than mixing it, maybe you can try perkedel to subtitute rice. anyway thank to try indonesian food, hope you like it mr martin
Hi Martin i really enjoyed watching this video. How long have you stayed in Jogjakarta? It just the way you and your family eat in SS makes me guessing that u have been staying in Jogjakarta for long. Have u ever tried Coconut Rice ( Nasi Uduk) before?
dude, you are great hahaha . . i gotta think twice to put those whole of sambal onto my plate. never see foreign really enjoy sambal like ya. good for you XD
hey guys Ive whached your video,,and I wonder the way You eat that SAMBAL,,,,I AM indonesian But I cant Eat Spicy food like you,,,you're great bro,,,,,I will allways follow your channel,,,waiting your next video
sambal isnt a hot sauce, its more like mashed chilis, included the seeds, with garlic and salt, and its often raw like u just ate there except they write 'sambal goreng' in the description that means the sambal isnt raw. but i like raw better, more spicy and not oily. if you go to jakarta you have to try bebek kaleo, deep fried yummy duck with sambal and you can also choose what kind of sambal you want to pair your duck with, its soo yummy and cheap, the place is superrr crowded, always crowded. indonesian food, often cooked so salty cause we always pair them with rice, like a lot haha, yang penting kenyang right. thumbs up to your video here, it always nice to watch foreign people like your family enjoying authentic indonesian food. cheers!
Looks extremely delicious, im indonesian but i have never been to jogjakarta :( after you mix it all you should try eat it with your hands, even more delicious :)
Riding Java Depending on regions, Some of us Indonesians uses hand and fingers to eat instead of spoon and fork. But yes, you should try eating with hand and fingers only... A bit messy though.
dear johnson family, how long have you been living in jogyakarta? Usually we eat sambal as a dip sauce, you just dip it with your food, not mix it at once.i am very impress you can handle the heat.
I'm amazed of how modest your family and how polite your kids are.. Your wife's incredible, she's so friendly in front of the camera explaining how good the food she was eating.. great channel, pal Martin

At SS, you've got to try their karedok! It's far hotter, spicier, than any of the sambal they have.
hello pak Martin, I live in Jakarta and there's an SS restaurant near my house, yep the sambals there are the best! haha. do you like seafood? next time you and your family eat there again, try their calamari (or cumi goreng tepung in bahasa). it's my favorite and it's very goood.
