I think the main reason people choose not to tell the baby name is because they don't want other people's opinions. When you tell the intended name before baby is born people tend to tell you what they think of it, good or bad! If you wait until baby is born to reveal the name people usually keep their opinions to themselves if they don't like it.
So true! My sister chose a name for her second child and EVERYONE in our family was telling her they hated the name. She called me, crying and asking my opinion. I told her it didn't matter what I thought, because in a year, I won't be able to imagine that baby with any other name. And yes, his name FITS this boy. Both of us went with extremely Irish names for all our kids and I'm glad we did.

How about Zac going to the wedding, but not drinking? You don't always have to drink at weddings, specially when you know your wife could go into labour any minute.
My husband did that for me also. When I was pregnant. If I want to have a glass of wine these days he will not drink so he could be the designated driver and I can unwind because I do most of the driving.
Give your child a classic name and you’ll never regret it. Picture your child introducing themselves at their first real job and how proud and confident you would want them to feel about themselves in that moment.
Tell him to go to the wedding. NO DRINKING. A 30 minute drive isnt bad. The baby will take his good ol time if your water breaks or you go into labor. He will be home way before anything happens

Zach could go depending on 1. Baby is already born and you have your mom’s help or 2. You’re not very dilated/having a lot of signs of imminent birth. Some women go over the due date with their first pregnancy and some come earlier. I think you guys should play it by ear as it’s closer. I think Zach would be devastated to miss the delivery so even though a wedding can be a once in a life time thing, delivery of his first born son is certainly a once in a life time experience 😂 Also I second everyone saying Burke for a first name 😭❤

Honestly, you just don’t know what will happen close to the due date, just go to the wedding! Imagine if the baby is 2 weeks late and you were both just sat there all day and you could have been at the wedding. Just do it! And stay just as long as your comfortable

I had a list of 8 first and middle name options, with the combinations we liked. We sat together with our new baby and read them out loud until one clicked for us. 💕
We did the blanket ladder in my sons nursery, and I love it. We received several handmade quilts and blankets at his baby shower. My Mom thrifted the ladder!

I just had my baby boy in February, all he used during the newborn phase were zip up sleepers literally nothing else. Babies can’t wear hats indoors cuz that’s how they somewhat regulate their own tempts. And in my opinion mittens are cruel so he never wore them and I just clipped his nails every other day. You’re going to be a great mama 🥰
I personally love the name James, very classy name and James rogal has a nice ring to it! It’s hard to find a name that is cute for a baby boy but will fit a grown man as your son gets older! 💙

I saved money and went to Barnes and Noble. Found a comfy chair and looked through the name books there. They even have name books for different ethnicities
Not advice but an anecdote- we also struggled with boy names. We used the Baby Names app, basically Tinder for names where you and your partner can see when you “match.” We then ended up with 4 possible names by the time we went to the hospital. Once he was born, it went down to 2 and took 2 days for us to pick 😂 All that to say, I am also type A but could not pick a name without seeing him first. If you don’t decide before he arrives, it will all be okay! But I am excited to see what you go with.

Highly suggest googling some top 100 lists from different parts of the world (Australia, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, etc.) You can find some neat options there 🙂 since your dad is Irish might be cool to have a nod to the heritage…Declan, Ronan, Ciaran, Connor, Rowan, Rory are cute Irish names!

I had the same situation for my husband’s good friends wedding and I was 38 weeks pregnant and still didn’t go. It did NOT sound fun for me. My husband went and just had a couple beers and then was cut off lol. The wedding was 30 mins away.
Zac could go uber to the wedding and drink in moderation. He can always Uber his way to the hospital so he’s not driving intoxicated. Because it’s your first, you’re not likely to have the baby within an hour of going into labor ❤
Clancy, in regards to the wedding, it’s best that Zack doesn’t go. You and the baby are more important and he needs to be with you whether the baby comes or not that day. It’s risky if he goes and then you go into labor. I’m sure his friends will understand if he doesn’t go. Besides, the baby may come before the due date and you’ll both be very busy with a newborn.

I have 3 boys. My 1st literally left the hospital as “baby boy” LoL We didn’t know the gender before he was born in 1995, so we didn’t have a name yet. Once we found the right name it was perfect. My 2nd we had a name from a soap opera I watched 😂 and it fits. My 3rd, we picked a name watching movie credits in the hospital after he was born. The name Gary in 2000 floored all the nurses, but it’s totally him now! Traditional, non traditional, unique, whatever name y’all pick for baby boy will be perfect 🩵
My son was born in April and we named him Callan. Its Irish/Scottish/Gaelic origin. He was also measuring big during oregnancy but was born 7lb 13oz and wore newborn for quite some time!
Name him after your most loved person in your family, or grandparents or someone special to your mom and dad from thier families, or you can use the first initial of someone that is very special to you, so it has meaning. Or you pick first name and let him pick middle name! Your growing the baby m, you might want to remind him you get first choice. Babies grow into their names it’s weird but they do! Not worth stress about. My daughter’s name is Ava Rose we named her after my grandmother who raised me and my husband’s sister who passed when she was younger. It means so much to both of us!!! BTW, when my mom and dad couldn’t decide on the middle name for my brother in the 60’s your mom might remember this idk, there was a paper towel commercial that they would roll out the paper towel roll and yell GREAT SCOTT for the Scott brand! So that ended up being my brothers middle name so it was Charles Scott, but we called him Chuck anyway! So, a lot of time especially when they are younger they end up with a nick name! We sometime still call my daughter Pooh, like Winnie the Pooh! Because when she was a baby she had big piggy checks like a Pooh bear! She is 14 and still responds to it because she knows it is still an 😊 endearing name for her sweetness!

Our first baby was due in September too but he arrived late. My due date was September 21st and he came September 29th. We went to a wedding September 25th and it was a lot of fun. I was hoping that all the moving and walking would help kick start something, but alas that did not work🤪. When I was past my due date I was definitely more tired and had to sit/rest more. You may feel incredible though. I ended up having to be induced twice. The baby just did not want to leave me, lol. He was 9 pounds 14 ounces and I still can’t believe I pushed him out (with the help of an epidural 😁).
Naming our baby was the hardest thing for me! I had no idea how hard it was going to be. We finally landed on one name and it was the only name we agreed on so we ran with it!
It should be fine for Zach to go to the wedding, like you said, it's a small chance you'll be in labor on your due date. You will probably be with a new baby, or not yet in labor. Y'all are so cute!
As far as coming up with baby's name... It is si very hard. I tried very hard to pick one that would fit my son when he was a child, teen and adult and one that people wouldn't make fun of. Also, try to give him a name that gives him a choice for a nickname like Christopher; Chris, Topher,. Oliver, Ollie, Benjamin; Ben, Benji, (as a teen-Jam or Jamin). OMG, brings back memories of picking a name for our son 34 years ago. My husband wanted him to be named after him. I refused that because when he would be 80 years old, he would be called "Junior, or Big or little***etc. Then my husband wanted to name him Theodore, and call him Ted, but all I could think about Alvin, Simon, and Theodore of the cartoon Chipmunks. So the compromise that our son has my husband's middle name, and same initials, but no Junior or Ted😊
Don’t count yourself out from going to the wedding just cuz it’s a day before your due date. Go and have fun, and take your hospital bag along just in case. You do not want to sit around just waiting for his birth.

There's so many reasons we aren't telling anyone our baby's name until shes here! The main reason is its really nice to have something just between my husband and I. I feel like everyone wants to know everything about my pregnancy all the time, which is good and all that, but it's really nice to have something between just the 2 of us. Second, I absolutely do not want the opinions 😅 Goodluck telling me you don't like my baby's name once she's here lol. Thirdly, I don't want the commitment. My MIL does not like that we aren't sharing the name and says she wants to buy things with her name on it and all that, and what if baby comes out and I decide I don't want the name anymore? I don't want that pressure of "oh everyone thinks this is her name and I've have a handful of people buy customized stuff with her name on it" so now I feel stressed if I want a different name. To each their own! But as someone who's not sharing the name, that's my perspective. 😅❤
Why don't you just go the wedding!? Hear me out. Yes, it will be a day before your due date. However, the majority of first time moms don't go into labor until after their due date. Now, yes you could be one of those that actual go into labor right on their due date, then in that case you and Zac obviously wouldn't go. If you are feeling fine on the day of the wedding, why not go? You don't have to drink and party in order to be able to enjoy a wedding. The main part is, or at least it should be the ceremony. Now, if you just don't feel like going don't go. However, let Zac go is just 30 minutes away. He definitely shouldn't drink. Just because you aren't in labor on the wedding day, it doesn't mean that you won't go into labor the next day. You don't want a hungover husband. In short, don't miss the wedding just bacause your due date is the next day. Miss the wedding because your not feeling well. Enjoy the last few months. I miss being pregnant. Can't wait to have baby number 2. Hopefully, God will allow my husband and I a second one. They are just the most beautiful creatures in the whole world! Wait till you see your baby. My husband used to say the same thing that you did, about NB not being cute. When ours was born he was just in love with her. I'm sure that you will too.❤
I bought lots of clothes before my son was born and didn’t use some because I learned some clothes are a pain to put on and off young babies. Unless we went out or had pictures, I put my son in gowns for the first few weeks because it was easier to change diapers. He then graduated to onesies and knit pants. Think easy access for changing lots and lots of diapers. Also, babies spit up! Thank god they are cute because they make big messes 😂
If it makes you feel better... my mom was pregnant with twins.. this was before gender reveals... but she was SURE she was having a boy and a girl.. so she had picked out Matthew and Maegen... then on our delivery day my (identical) twin sister was born first and my mom saw her and said, "That's not Maegen!?" And she was so confused because she knew baby #2 (me) was a boy... well, when I came out a girl... she looked at me and said, "there's my Maegen!" And then looked at my sister and said, "And she's Amanda Lee Ruth"... just like that. Sometimes it just happens that way. ... ive also since had 3 children of my own (and each has three names like my twin sister and i) and my husband and I did eventually find names we loved for all of them. So, you'll find that perfect name. Sometimes it happens on delivery day 🤷🏼♀️
We didn’t name our son until we were leaving the hospital and they told us we couldn’t leave until we had a name. I love his name and couldn’t imagine him with a different name. We knew we would know once we met him.

When my best friend was very pregnant it was summertime and she spent a lot of it in a shady pool to keep the belly floating off of her hip. She got overheated. Overheated in the POOL 😅. Her doctor told her she had to drink extra water if she wanted to use the pool.

I would definitely assume neither of you will be at the wedding the day before your due date. You will either have a newborn, be awaiting induction, or exhausted waiting for baby.
The chances of u going into labour during those few hours of the wedding are v slim, but I’d have him find a person who doesn’t drink who is willing to be on call to drive him directly to u if needs be. Bronson is a great name

I had that same problem. My son was supposed to be Dominic Eugene and halfway pregnant I was like absolutely not his name. So we were nameless until the perfect name popped up and now he is Holden Lowell. So it’ll come in time and when it does you’ll know.
My almost 2 year old is named Finn! My husband hated it at first, but when I was 7 months pregnant it grew on him. Looking at him now, he is definitely a Finn! You will find a name that you both like! Boy names are hard haha
I can relate to the issue of people not understanding your name. Mine is Lorna, and people are like "Lana?" No, Lorna. "Lorena?" No, Lorna. "Lauren?" No, Lorna, like Lorna Doone cookies. They sometimes don't even know what those are, either, so I have to spell it out! Other times, though, I have some people say that it is a pretty name. It does make me unique, and my middle name is a traditional one after one of my aunts. At the end of the day, I do love it! When naming my firstborn, we went for more traditional first name after a grandfather, but then we went non-traditional on the middle name that had a meaning. For the second, a little more unique from a baby name book (so I thought at the time) for the first name and composed his middle name with letters of places we visited/lived/loved. My mom found my name in a book, and we found our eldest son's middle name in a comic book. Continue to look for inspiration beyond a traditional baby name book would be my suggestion.
My best friend got married very close to my due date (11 days after). I ended up having him go for the full thing, I ended up going, barely making the wedding, and I ended up sneaking my newborn to reception for a little bit just because it was our best friends. I would say plan on him going, it's your first so even if you went into labor he would likely make it (even if it's via Uber). For you, I would plan on going to the wedding only, not the reception. If you were about to pop, you could just watch the wedding and go home and rest. If you had a new newborn, people would understand if you could no longer come to the wedding.
A boy name was so hard for us and honestly the girl name became the same way. It will just hit you both (hopefully ;)). I thought we had the girls name the first time around when we had a boy, but my partner ended up not liking it anymore. I guess when the baby is born and named you can’t go back, but that whole situation makes me think of what if you end up not liking the name later, like when the baby is born? But then it’s so much more than just a name, so that probably makes all the difference! Good luck- it will happen.

We used the Baby Names app, basically Tinder for names where you and your partner can see when you “match.” We then ended up with 4 possible names by the time we went to the hospital. Once he was born, it went down to 2 and took 2 days for us to pick 😂 All that to say, I am also type A but could not pick a name without seeing him first. If you don’t decide before he arrives, it will all be okay! But I am excited to see what you go with.

Heres a tip I used. Each of you make a list. Then take turns circling (ones you like) or striking each others list. Then make a list of the cirlced names and pick from there lol
Highly suggest googling some top 100 lists from different parts of the world (Australia, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, etc.) You can find some neat options there 🙂 since your dad is Irish might be cool to have a nod to the heritage…Declan, Ronan, Ciaran, Connor, Rowan, Rory are cute Irish names!

I had the same situation for my husband’s good friends wedding and I was 38 weeks pregnant and still didn’t go. It did NOT sound fun for me. My husband went and just had a couple beers and then was cut off lol. The wedding was 30 mins away.
Zac could go uber to the wedding and drink in moderation. He can always Uber his way to the hospital so he’s not driving intoxicated. Because it’s your first, you’re not likely to have the baby within an hour of going into labor ❤
Clancy, in regards to the wedding, it’s best that Zack doesn’t go. You and the baby are more important and he needs to be with you whether the baby comes or not that day. It’s risky if he goes and then you go into labor. I’m sure his friends will understand if he doesn’t go. Besides, the baby may come before the due date and you’ll both be very busy with a newborn.

I have 3 boys. My 1st literally left the hospital as “baby boy” LoL We didn’t know the gender before he was born in 1995, so we didn’t have a name yet. Once we found the right name it was perfect. My 2nd we had a name from a soap opera I watched 😂 and it fits. My 3rd, we picked a name watching movie credits in the hospital after he was born. The name Gary in 2000 floored all the nurses, but it’s totally him now! Traditional, non traditional, unique, whatever name y’all pick for baby boy will be perfect 🩵

My son was born in April and we named him Callan. Its Irish/Scottish/Gaelic origin. He was also measuring big during oregnancy but was born 7lb 13oz and wore newborn for quite some time!
Name him after your most loved person in your family, or grandparents or someone special to your mom and dad from thier families, or you can use the first initial of someone that is very special to you, so it has meaning. Or you pick first name and let him pick middle name! Your growing the baby m, you might want to remind him you get first choice. Babies grow into their names it’s weird but they do! Not worth stress about. My daughter’s name is Ava Rose we named her after my grandmother who raised me and my husband’s sister who passed when she was younger. It means so much to both of us!!!
BTW, when my mom and dad couldn’t decide on the middle name for my brother in the 60’s your mom might remember this idk, there was a paper towel commercial that they would roll out the paper towel roll and yell GREAT SCOTT for the Scott brand! So that ended up being my brothers middle name so it was Charles Scott, but we called him Chuck anyway! So, a lot of time especially when they are younger they end up with a nick name! We sometime still call my daughter Pooh, like Winnie the Pooh! Because when she was a baby she had big piggy checks like a Pooh bear! She is 14 and still responds to it because she knows it is still an 😊 endearing name for her sweetness!

Our first baby was due in September too but he arrived late. My due date was September 21st and he came September 29th. We went to a wedding September 25th and it was a lot of fun. I was hoping that all the moving and walking would help kick start something, but alas that did not work🤪. When I was past my due date I was definitely more tired and had to sit/rest more. You may feel incredible though.
I ended up having to be induced twice. The baby just did not want to leave me, lol. He was 9 pounds 14 ounces and I still can’t believe I pushed him out (with the help of an epidural 😁).

Naming our baby was the hardest thing for me! I had no idea how hard it was going to be. We finally landed on one name and it was the only name we agreed on so we ran with it!

As far as coming up with baby's name... It is si very hard. I tried very hard to pick one that would fit my son when he was a child, teen and adult and one that people wouldn't make fun of. Also, try to give him a name that gives him a choice for a nickname like Christopher; Chris, Topher,. Oliver, Ollie, Benjamin; Ben, Benji, (as a teen-Jam or Jamin). Naming babies is almost harder than childbirth because they are stuck with it FOREVER! Good Luck. I'm so very happy for you. 👍💙👍Baby Love ❤

OMG, brings back memories of picking a name for our son 34 years ago. My husband wanted him to be named after him. I refused that because when he would be 80 years old, he would be called "Junior, or Big or little***etc. Then my husband wanted to name him Theodore, and call him Ted, but all I could think about Alvin, Simon, and Theodore of the cartoon Chipmunks. So the compromise that our son has my husband's middle name, and same initials, but no Junior or Ted😊
Don’t count yourself out from going to the wedding just cuz it’s a day before your due date. Go and have fun, and take your hospital bag along just in case. You do not want to sit around just waiting for his birth.

I had a baby girl in May and we named her Magnolia, but our boy name list was none existent. Naming a human is SO HARD. Just remember you’re naming an adult not a child.
There's so many reasons we aren't telling anyone our baby's name until shes here! The main reason is its really nice to have something just between my husband and I. I feel like everyone wants to know everything about my pregnancy all the time, which is good and all that, but it's really nice to have something between just the 2 of us. Second, I absolutely do not want the opinions 😅 Goodluck telling me you don't like my baby's name once she's here lol. Thirdly, I don't want the commitment. My MIL does not like that we aren't sharing the name and says she wants to buy things with her name on it and all that, and what if baby comes out and I decide I don't want the name anymore? I don't want that pressure of "oh everyone thinks this is her name and I've have a handful of people buy customized stuff with her name on it" so now I feel stressed if I want a different name.
To each their own! But as someone who's not sharing the name, that's my perspective. 😅❤

Yes, it will be a day before your due date. However, the majority of first time moms don't go into labor until after their due date.
Now, yes you could be one of those that actual go into labor right on their due date, then in that case you and Zac obviously wouldn't go.
If you are feeling fine on the day of the wedding, why not go? You don't have to drink and party in order to be able to enjoy a wedding. The main part is, or at least it should be the ceremony.
Now, if you just don't feel like going don't go. However, let Zac go is just 30 minutes away. He definitely shouldn't drink. Just because you aren't in labor on the wedding day, it doesn't mean that you won't go into labor the next day. You don't want a hungover husband.
In short, don't miss the wedding just bacause your due date is the next day. Miss the wedding because your not feeling well.
Enjoy the last few months. I miss being pregnant. Can't wait to have baby number 2. Hopefully, God will allow my husband and I a second one. They are just the most beautiful creatures in the whole world!

I bought lots of clothes before my son was born and didn’t use some because I learned some clothes are a pain to put on and off young babies. Unless we went out or had pictures, I put my son in gowns for the first few weeks because it was easier to change diapers. He then graduated to onesies and knit pants. Think easy access for changing lots and lots of diapers. Also, babies spit up! Thank god they are cute because they make big messes 😂
My husband wouldn’t want to go to a wedding without me, and being 40 weeks pregnant he really wouldn’t want to go

If it makes you feel better... my mom was pregnant with twins.. this was before gender reveals... but she was SURE she was having a boy and a girl.. so she had picked out Matthew and Maegen... then on our delivery day my (identical) twin sister was born first and my mom saw her and said, "That's not Maegen!?" And she was so confused because she knew baby #2 (me) was a boy... well, when I came out a girl... she looked at me and said, "there's my Maegen!" And then looked at my sister and said, "And she's Amanda Lee Ruth"... just like that. Sometimes it just happens that way. ... ive also since had 3 children of my own (and each has three names like my twin sister and i) and my husband and I did eventually find names we loved for all of them. So, you'll find that perfect name. Sometimes it happens on delivery day 🤷🏼♀️
We didn’t name our son until we were leaving the hospital and they told us we couldn’t leave until we had a name. I love his name and couldn’t imagine him with a different name. We knew we would know once we met him.

Zac can just go to the wedding but not drink. It's perfectly possible to have lots of fun at a party and stay sober so that he can be sober with his pregnant wife is she needs him. No need to overthink this.
When my best friend was very pregnant it was summertime and she spent a lot of it in a shady pool to keep the belly floating off of her hip. She got overheated. Overheated in the POOL 😅. Her doctor told her she had to drink extra water if she wanted to use the pool.

I would definitely assume neither of you will be at the wedding the day before your due date. You will either have a newborn, be awaiting induction, or exhausted waiting for baby.

I had that same problem. My son was supposed to be Dominic Eugene and halfway pregnant I was like absolutely not his name. So we were nameless until the perfect name popped up and now he is Holden Lowell. So it’ll come in time and when it does you’ll know.
My almost 2 year old is named Finn! My husband hated it at first, but when I was 7 months pregnant it grew on him. Looking at him now, he is definitely a Finn! You will find a name that you both like! Boy names are hard haha
I can relate to the issue of people not understanding your name. Mine is Lorna, and people are like "Lana?" No, Lorna. "Lorena?" No, Lorna. "Lauren?" No, Lorna, like Lorna Doone cookies. They sometimes don't even know what those are, either, so I have to spell it out! Other times, though, I have some people say that it is a pretty name. It does make me unique, and my middle name is a traditional one after one of my aunts. At the end of the day, I do love it! When naming my firstborn, we went for more traditional first name after a grandfather, but then we went non-traditional on the middle name that had a meaning. For the second, a little more unique from a baby name book (so I thought at the time) for the first name and composed his middle name with letters of places we visited/lived/loved. My mom found my name in a book, and we found our eldest son's middle name in a comic book. Continue to look for inspiration beyond a traditional baby name book would be my suggestion.

My best friend got married very close to my due date (11 days after). I ended up having him go for the full thing, I ended up going, barely making the wedding, and I ended up sneaking my newborn to reception for a little bit just because it was our best friends. I would say plan on him going, it's your first so even if you went into labor he would likely make it (even if it's via Uber). For you, I would plan on going to the wedding only, not the reception. If you were about to pop, you could just watch the wedding and go home and rest. If you had a new newborn, people would understand if you could no longer come to the wedding.

A boy name was so hard for us and honestly the girl name became the same way. It will just hit you both (hopefully ;)). I thought we had the girls name the first time around when we had a boy, but my partner ended up not liking it anymore. I guess when the baby is born and named you can’t go back, but that whole situation makes me think of what if you end up not liking the name later, like when the baby is born? But then it’s so much more than just a name, so that probably makes all the difference! Good luck- it will happen.
