    DSP is no different than the 3 or 4 way crossover your about to install. The difference is analog (EQ, Crossover, Bass processor) which happens to be the way my system is, not digital which is a DSP. A DSP allows you to not need any other components in the system. A DSP is superior no way about it, it's just all digital. If the DSP blew mids than the crossover setting was not correct, I agree analog is much easier to work with and it overall looks better if trying to display all the components. A DSP is great for "stealth" builds, their easy to hide.

  • @reithig
    @reithig 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    The last time I installed an EQ or crossover was back in 2016......have since moved to DSPs for SQ builds that need precise tuning or just HU in-built EQ and crossovers.....sounds much cleaner IMO.
    As much as I am not a fan of PRV and Expert DSPs, the DSP was not responsible for blowing the speakers and tweeters. The crossover settings and gains are the most probable cause.

      Would a dsp clean up the sound or help adjust the frequencies for a subwoofer

    • @reithig
      @reithig 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RomaVillaYes it offers near infinite possibilities to dial it in from multiple crossover alignments such Linkwitz Riley, Butterworth and Bessel with 6 - 48 Db slope as well as user definable cutoff points to parametric EQ on every channel including the sub channel.
      Audio Dynamics, Musway, MiniDSP are good starting points and Helix for top of the line.

      @@PeterFeltersnatch852 The particular circumstances in this video are kind of unique. Mouse trap did not put that battery in the back. The customer did that. I assume he told the customer that it should be an AGM and that it should be bolted down, but the customer probably didn't want to spend the money. He at least rotated it so that it would not be a fire hazard.

    I love my DSP's. You have to really spend time learning how to use the DSP but once you get a hang of it you'll never go back to regular crossovers. But those dsp's without Bluetooth or having the ability to hook up to a laptop is difficult to tune. I have both, PPI DSP controlled by the laptop and an expert electronic DSP that I control through my phone app. I like the Bluetooth DSP better because I don't have to lug out the computer every time I want to make small changes.

    DSP is definitely the best way to go. There's a lot of misconception about them because they can be intimidating if you don't know what you're doing. I highly doubt the DSP was the problem. More likely a crossover set wrong. You said he installed it. My guess is he didn't know how to adjust it. Unfortunately Mouse the title of your video is helping fuel that misconception
