    Correction for the graphic at 6:04 which was fixed in my YT short here: th-cam.com/users/shortstX0AknMT4aY
    "Which will generate AIRFLOW (not 'thrust') from the tail rotor"
    Thrust is the direction of travel (right), while the airflow is going the opposite direction (left)

    You nailed it. The feeling of accomplishment is huge when something goes right. All the fun is in the learning. Thank you!

      Absolutely! That's the magic of DCS - learning a new aircraft JUST enough that you're now a danger to yourself and others 😂

    what DCS really needs is an instructor who looks disapprovingly at you when you get something wrong

    Glad to see you try out the Hind, it's an awesome helicopter to fly! Don't tell the Apache boys, but I think it might be my favorite helicopter in DCS. ;)

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lol tell me about it! Honestly, the trim hat alone really makes it an absolute joy to fly over the Apache for me. That is.. until you try to slow to a hover then suddenly enter VRS 😑

    • @crazygmanssimstuff
      @crazygmanssimstuff ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Tuuvas You eventually get used to the VRS point, and the appropriate amount of collective you need to adjust consistantly, but it's definitely a lot more collective use then with the Apache. She also weighs more completely naked with no fuel, then the Apache does with full weapons and gas.

    Welcome to the first training mission on the Mi-24P Hind helicopter. Today we will learn basic procedures to start and take-off this bird.
    Mi-24 is a two-seat helicopter operated by a pilot and a co-pilot gunner, also known as a weapon operator. Use keyboard keys [1] and [2] to switch between seats (cockpits). In this lesson we will act as a pilot and occupy the up-most cockpit situated behind the operator's one.
    So, we begin. First, switch on all the circuit breakers on the right and left back walls. Use the support metal frames to move them up all at once or use keyboard keys [RCtrl+RShift+1] and [RCtrl+RShift+2]

    the Mi24 is probably one of the aircraft that is most fun for me to fly.
    Nice fast helo with an assortment of great weapons that are plenty capable, its just new enough to have some cool guided stuff (albeit, 'manual') and old enough to require some actual fucking pilot shit instead of MFD management.
    Enigma's is the perfect environment for it, though I haven't flown for about 6 months or so due to a move from coast to coast. Can't wait to get up and running again.
    I hope the performance from proper multi-core support//"Multi-thread" brings some improvements for me to VR. Previously I was fairly capped at around 60fps on enigma's with a 12700k + 6900xt and a HP Reverb. Offline I didn't have those issues though.

  • @crazygmanssimstuff

    Love the Hind. I own the AH-64, Ka-50 and Mi-8 as well, and the hind I still find my favorite. Pretty impressive control with the gamepad there. Nice vid.

    • @aaronwhite1786
      @aaronwhite1786 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm enjoying all of the helicopters at the moment, and I've been spending a ton of time in the AH-64, since I just couldn't get into the thing at release, since I just wasn't comfortable flying it. I was spoiled by the Ka-50 trim.
      But the Hind has always been the most fun to fly. Carving along roads and rivers just feels so right in the thing. You really feel like you're cruising along in a massive murder bus.

    The hind is deceptively simple. A lot of the systems are similar to other soviet era planes as well. I found it much easier to learn than say the A10cII

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah once I got the start-up down, everything else was incredibly simple. It's very much a cold war era aircraft that happens to also be a helicopter. Plus the automatic ranging with most weapons makes it very easy to execute attacks with.

    Hi Tuuvas! Nice to see that you have updated your page with controls for the Mi-24, I need to get back on this bird! When updating to the new multi threading beta, I nigh on had a heart attack when I loaded in an F18 and all my controls weren't working on the gamepad! I thought that I had lost the whole lot of configurations. On reloading they were all back again. I think that if I had to repeat the process of configuration for all of my aircraft I would have thrown in the towel on DCS lol!

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  ปีที่แล้ว

      The eye tracking isn't super precise, but will at least show you the general area I'm looking. For instance, the blob will float above the VSI when I'm looking right at the needle to keep track of vertical speed

    Any way to decrease the sensitivity of the collective response to button presses? I've seen some lua edits people do to get less change per press of a trim button.

  • @auqanova
    @auqanova ปีที่แล้ว

    you missed the part where you load up on full weapons for the first time and then find out you cant take off at that weight, because the rotor moves too fast for the antitorque to match, that took me like an hour to figure out.
    but damn i do like the hind a lot

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that you mention it, you've just put into words what I couldn't quite describe during the learning process. Whenever I tried coming to a very quick hover/stop, I would need so much collective that the pedals stopped having enough authority to combat the torque. Then I just end up spinning like a top while I wait for the VSI to gradually rise and allow me to lower the collective for more RPM

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're flying low enough to be hit by a manpad, the best you can do is get even lower to have trees/terrain/buildings masking you from their potential threat. Otherwise, keep both yours and Petrovich's head on a swivel and start flaring when you see smoke. Or if you suspect manpad activity in a particular area, pre-flare until you think you're safe.
