Great video. Question on mapping clubs. I have mapped mine with the balls I use, but distances still are off some. Do you use the carry flight or after spin?
Carry only. Release/roll will happen differently with each course, green speed, and wind direction so that is another aspect to work on. Be careful where you map them as places like Kiawah #1 have downhill elevation where the ball lands. It may not be drastic but 2 yards makes a difference between being below the flag or above it.
Another great video, watch most of your videos and I am learning a lot. Question on approach grids, it seems not all grids are alike. i.e. 18th at St. Andrews. How do you compensate for some camera angles where the grids do not seem to be consistent?
Grids like STA 18 are deferred to pitch grid. To counter this, drag the flag off the green and then drag it back on. This should reset the aim grids to the normal boxes.
Have a thought about a video on becoming more consistent hitting dings? How to do it more consistently when needed. In my case, this is a huge problem I would love to find some kind of method of being consistent.
I am probably the wrong person to make this video as I am a 99% misding player. This was a video I made on why: th-cam.com/video/UCNp9wmUzuY/w-d-xo.html
Cheers man. Typically normal divisors are 180 for HW and 225 for TW. When I get into heavy winds (20mph+) I switch to the heavy wind divisor which would be 150 for HW and 200 for TW. Anything less than 20mph winds are generally using the normal divisors and then you tweak your shot based on shot situation: green speed, green slope direction, wind direction etc etc
This will help me a lot in heavy winds esp St Andrews and PB which just baffle me usually. Do you just add approx 3% on for headwinds and take off 3% for tailwinds or do you use different modifiers in in heavy winds?
I use 150 divisor for headwind, and 200 for tailwinds. Of course each course is going to be a little different so minor notes have to be taken when something is off.
150 head, 200 tail. Some courses/holes however still require an extra yard or 2. But instead of always changing the variables (divisors) I will just make a note of which hole needs +/- yards. Some people have individual divisors for every club or group of clubs but I didn’t feel the time required to sit around and figure that out was conducive.
Yes sir. Your aim will also depend on the type of ball you use. A level 33 ball won’t move as much as a level 87 ball so you’ll have to tweak the calculator accordingly if necessary.
Great video Ross, can I ask do you use apparel enhancements for driver and 3 wood or do you always play without them. I play 307 driver in clash which can be good but I wonder if consistency of always playing 292 would be better especially as the toll on 307 can be unpredictable
If I'm doing anything with apparel, I will keep it strictly for my driver so that I may get closer to use lower irons. I rarely play anything that requires apparel except for the occasional clash round so mainly I am 99% standard numbers.
1) Yardage x Wind- 156x26=4056 2) Wind divisor / wind angle- 150/.8=188 3) #1 / #2- 4056/188=21.5 yards to add to the original yardage 4) Original yardage 156 + 21.5=177
I made a video on how I calculate shots. th-cam.com/video/X6QhdPHXW1Q/w-d-xo.html Then I simply put this method into an excel page so that I don’t have to use a calculator. And it produces the values for me so I can play more efficiently.
Thanks Ross. That clarifies some really bad outcomes I have had.
Hope it helps dial in better shots 👍🏻

Super vid bud question i have is where i get the low and high wind divisor and how do i tell when to use the right one

Do you consider heavy winds >20mph as with the wind calculator?

Cheers buddy 👍🏻
How did you come up with 177 yards
1) Yardage x Wind- 156x26=4056
2) Wind divisor / wind angle- 150/.8=188
3) #1 / #2- 4056/188=21.5 yards to add to the original yardage
4) Original yardage 156 + 21.5=177
Hi Ross, I know this an older video, I just need help on the .8 and so on, not sure how to get the .1, .2, .3 etc. @@Babzilla33
Sorry for just seeing this. The decimals work as a clock. 12:00 and 6:00 are 1. Then as you move towards 3:00/9:00, they decrease until you reach .01.
may i know how u calculate everything? is the a program or something? thanks alot for the video btw.
