ROAMS01E20 Climbing Mountains Offroad in a Jimny with a Rooftop Tent 4x4ing??

  • An incredible adventure awaited us. We left late that night, and would find ourselves driving my Jimny through darkness to arrive on a strange farm in the middle of nowhere, in bitterly cold weather. We were not prepared, but the Three Provinces would make me questions whether I made the right decision or not, to tackle it alone.

    I think I definitely could have dropped the tire pressures abit more! I prefer to see abit more flex in my rubber! I also put a sneaky little discount code in the description for those devoted few who actually read it, its for the new merch so if you want to grab something from there, now is the time!

      What is the maximum weight you are allowed to put on the roof? What does the approval certificate say? In Austria it will be something like 160 pounds (~70 kg or so), so I doubt it is even allowed to attach the tent.
      And did you customize the roof in any way, or did it withstand you both sleeping there being stock?
      Sry for bad english and greetings from Austria!

      Hello,
      Thank you for your excellent channel. I have a question, what is the maximum weight that the jimny roof can withstand officially rolling? I live in France and my Suzuki dealer tells me only 30kg (66 pounds).

    There’s no better feeling than doing a track solo and beating a sphincter clenching obstacle. That’s the whole idea of off roading!! You’ll gain confidence the more you get out there and attack the trails solo. This is definitely your best video yet and the Jimny looks mint!! Keep the off road clips coming!

    Nice! But I think you should have a looksee where those "rock sliders" hooked up on the rocks. When you had them fitted at Wild Dog, I recall raising the issue about the mounting bracket being too low. Maybe let them look at a redesign.

    You can make your own solar shower for that rig. Just get PVC pipe from the hardware and cheap shower rose and hang it on the opposite side to your awning. Just a word of advise don’t go by yourself. There was a very young couple in Victoria Australia recently who went on the 4X4 trail by themselves rolled off a mountain side. Police and searchers found their bodies in the vehicle Landcruiser crushed against a tree days later. So always go with a group for anything really even just bush walking.

    Tree Provinces is one of my favourite places to travel to and do some 4x4 Overlanding. I think on some of those obstacles a proper rear locker would have helped a tone! But yeah good on you that is not an easy trail!
    And as for that trail in the rain honestly, you won't make it without some damage on The Jimny. The convoy we travelled with had some serious Overlanding setups and it was road building and just a major mission to get everybody safely through. Lots of fun, but deadly!

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did find the torque to be abit short, I think because of the altitude and extra weight. I would consider doing a gear reduction if I put any bigger tyres on, but there are also few tracks that match the challenge of the Three Provinces 👍🏻
