I love both Caverna and Agricola. They have slightly different stuff to offer, so I'm happy to have both in my collection. I'm in the slightly prefer Agricola camp. I like that every game the puzzle is different as you adapt to whatever cards you have. I think I slightly prefer the tighter need for food as well.
Hi Mates. 👧🦘🇦🇺. I am looking for a sheep farming board game that has puzzly feel to it and more. Is Caverna a standalone game? Do I need Agricola? Is it in the World of Agricola, but it's own game? Is it also Solo.
Caverna and Agricola are two separate games, juts made by the same designer, with similar mechanics and art. They are not set in the same world. If you only care about farming, get Agricola instead. They both play solo but I have never tried them solo.
Ya I love Caverna more than Agricola. I think the cards are cool on Agricola, but if you don’t get dealt ones that work together and someone else does it kinda hurts your chances of winning a lot.
I love Caverna. I love the Caverna theme more than Agricola, I love the mining, expeditions and all of the rooms BUT I wish it had more randomness simply for replay value.
Yeah, I like the Agricola puzzle more. It's a tight focussed game that I always find to be well balanced in any player count. Definitely not for everyone though for Tom's very valid reasons. Agricola is the jigsaw and Carverna is the sandbox.
Caverna is too easy, Agricola is the gamers game. I hate how easy it is to feed your people, I love how tense it can get in Agricola. Caverna also devolves into AP due to its sandbox nature. That and the fact that Agricola gets a huge amount of replayability from the minor improvement/occupation cards means Agricola is the better game for in my opinion. I do like the adventuring from Caverna, though.
A Feast for Odin is a beast of a game. Probably Uwe's best game, but still, Caverna has its own feeling and flavour and it's nice to have variety of games.
the only thing I prefer in Agricola is the cards,. if there were some kind of room that would only show up every few games that would tip the scales completely in caverna's favor.
Plethora is one of my favorite words! A plethora of components. Cool!

Wow, great timing Tom. I've been interested in this one and I think you sold me on it!
Hi!

Fantastic review of a great game! But that hat needs to go.
THERE BE DWARVES NOW!
Has A Feast for Odin replaced Caverna?
You've just sold me this game... and I love it :)))
Is questing OP in two player games?
Any game where I can terrorize sheep with dogs while I chew on raw pumpkins and digging a cave at the same time is ace in my book.
Played Caverna for the first time tonight and it completely replaces Agricola for me.
“... and folks that’s why I like caverna.”

I just purchased Agricola. Mainly because I got the new revised edition for only $50. Caverna looked fun as well but its expensive
Good to see Duel of Ages 2 still on those shelves
Awesome video for an awesome game. Tom knows what he is saying.

dylectric haha love the analogy
One word : hourglass.
If I had to sell all but one of my games, Caverna would be the one I'd keep
For me A Feast for Odin and Ora & Labora replace Caverna. Somewhat surprisingly I sold Caverna forward some time ago.
A Feast for Odin is a beast of a game. Probably Uwe's best game, but still, Caverna has its own feeling and flavour and it's nice to have variety of games.
Guessing that was Zee on the editing add-ins... PLEASE continue with that :D
Detective Zee? Not Derek?

Dwarves. Nuff said.
Great video series Tom!
Nobody got the begging bowl in the Caverna game that I played.
When will be..why i love blood rage
