I was curious why this was and apparently the spray bottle sprays 10 units and only 5 units of artifexium are required to trigger an artifact, that's cool.
Random additional tip: Salvage *really* can be your friend if they bring you a RnD server board RnD server boards are basically their own entire research lines, what you "purchase" in one server does not carry over to another, it initially sounds little more useful then a backup way to restart science if the original gets destroyed, but this actually allows you to research two tier 3 technology lines in addition, the brand new changes to expeditions might actually cause salvage to get them this time, really, at this point, salvage should just be a division of science more then cargo, but something something "departmental interconnection"
Sadly today you never get to do anything. Sweaty veterans just powergame the entire artifacts and you will stand there not allowed to do anything as they power through every node and if you try to do anything you get scolded.
Came to this guide specifically to learn how to use the gas canisters, and after almost 11 minutes, when he finally gets the one demonstration I'm looking for, he hits us with the "I don't want to"... Guess I'll have to go watch an Atmos tutorial or something, because this one is clearly incomplete.
In the door hacking video for example he completely skips 90% of the functions I end up finding out by asking through discord Same for almost all the videos, teaches you some things but assumes an understanding of everything else even when it hasn't been covered
really thanks! i am mainly an ss13 player and i found really hard to get ahold of science and other "hard" departments with the new controls and everything but your videos really help a lot with that
I once got an artifact with a stimulus of "intense pressure" (i think) and the reaction being "environmental disruption". For some reason, this lead to a dead end in the nodes with the same stimulus, and me getting unlucky and getting the entire artifact chamber blown away and spaced meant that the "intense pressure" stimulus never stopped giving away the "environmental disruption" reaction. Basically, a 20-30 tile radius explosion every 0.5 seconds which is unstoppable. Forever. The whole research department was gone. Be careful with your artifacts. It's not the only game-ending combination.
I think you need to draw your own graph while you progressing this artefact so others will understand more throught visuals aspect at least. If some still confused - Graphs a some sort of Map and we try to discover parts of this Map. But this Map is labyrinth, so don't forget whe you are and paths that you hav
So what im hearing is that its entieely valid as a salvage antag to horde arti frags, then go into a major area, craft 20 artifacts, spray them and watch the apocalypse begin?
Well the AMOUNT of artifakium dosent change anything, so just a burst wouldn't be ideal But a foam or smoke of artifakium may, depending on how smoke/foam works, repeatedly activate the artifact every tick the foam/smoke is on it Which would be... devestating
I've been out of the loop for a couple years and haven't had time to get into ss14 yet. So most stations have a dedicated artifact scanner station? What irked me about ss13 was that rather than being back the artifacts to the station, it was just a mad rush for most miners to fuck off into the deepest depths of the surface possible, never to be seen again with all their gear. I much prefer the idea of you bringing back some stupidly powerful thing like an aliens expedition, to unleash further "fun" station side.
But can you weaponize a locker full of artifacts. just bring a locker up to a nukie squad, they shoot it busting it open, ya spray like 10 small artifacts.
Good day, can you tell me how many nodes are usually found in artifacts? And I still don’t understand a little, first we study the first node, activate the trigger, get a reaction, and how to move further along the branch, with a bypass distorter or what?
In my experience an artifact will have at least 2 nodes minimum. Most nodes I've seen on an artifact was 15, and that artifact was an absolute doozy from making bluespace parts, anomalies and exploding. At the time of recording the artifacts move in random directions, currently the analyzer lets you decide whether the artifact moves up or down it's nodes
The most problematic thing in xenoarcheology is exploding artifacts. Maybe I'm paranoid, but as RD i never activate artifacts that have Environmental Disruption, if it on depth more than one. Because in half of the situations it will be decompression because of eaten walls, and in the other half - it will be explosion of half of the RnD. If fact that now you have hole in size compared to half of your department, and minimum two of scientists now dead not enough for you - this also destroys your Artifact scanner, so now your only solution for gaining points are anomalies.
An artifact generates points every time you activate a node for the first time. You can extract points little by little, or all at once in the end, or anything in between. I suppose doing it more often is safer. Imagine, an artifact full of points suddenly disappears on you...
artifexium tunnelling is such a stupid way to earn a stupid amount of points. i would operate a salvage vessel with a scanner and get a few asteroids, then turn four frags into artifexium and all the other frags into artifacts. just 6 asteroids was enough to get 400k, my highest point amount. good times!
they added a new antag event called "skibidi toilet invasion" it spawns 10-50 ghost roles called "skibidi toilet" and the antag objective is to destroy all cameras but they have weakness cus when u alt click on them u flush them a dn they get stunned
"what the really unhinged do is spray several artifacts at the same time" - Lilten, teaching Science how to speedrun cratering their department
as if we needed help!
Got in as an assistant and all I did was give bomb materials to a revolutionary head, and wandered around wondering “where the artis at”
I love the idea of "advanced" guides
In “famous last word”
Spray, floor got uprooted, “That wasnt that bad”, wake up in medbay
Died, and got resuscitated in medbay.
One more tip to mention. You can dilute artifexium with water up to half and still have same effect. so per 1 artifact fragment, add 10u of water.
Or annoying med until they reluctantly give you a dropper they would never use and you’ll have 10 spray for 1 piece
What if you dilute it 4 to 1, so that you're spraying 4u water + 1u artefexiam =5u
I was curious why this was and apparently the spray bottle sprays 10 units and only 5 units of artifexium are required to trigger an artifact, that's cool.

some stations straight up have a dock for science
Holy, I didnt know about artifactium. Good to know, thank you Lilten
Science is a great way to determine if you're going to find an Infinite Money Generator or an Infinite Monkey Generator.
From "The Cave Johnsson ultimate compendium to minmax scientific advancement" (replacement scientists not included)
I think I’ll main science after seeing this, seems like a department where there’s a lot to do without making weapons or a shooty mech
Sadly today you never get to do anything. Sweaty veterans just powergame the entire artifacts and you will stand there not allowed to do anything as they power through every node and if you try to do anything you get scolded.
8:46 "we haven't even hit heny the eye higher depths which give more points" -liltenhead, advocating for heny abuse
Me and my homies hate heny
🤣
ty man artifacts are so complicated

sprays 2 artifacts
CHAIN EXPLOSION REACTION
How to play science:
1. Gather as many artifacts as possible on one tile
2. Make some artifexium
3. Spray the artifacts
3.00001: See god
Done that before, although didn't see God, that being said I only had 4 artifacts...
It's not the only game-ending combination.
and that's why I joined the science division folks
I remember an artifact that had an energy release that killed the entire science department in a wave of fire
The "fast and loose" method seems like a really ba FUN, its seems like FUN
I like this, would be cool to have a similar thing for anomalies, mentioning common containment methods and remote APE stuff
actual helpful guide thanks a lot
You can use water guns to spray multiple artifacts with artificium from the safe distance. (On expeditions for example)
I think you need to draw your own graph while you progressing this artefact so others will understand more throught visuals aspect at least. If some still confused - Graphs a some sort of Map and we try to discover parts of this Map. But this Map is labyrinth, so don't forget whe you are and paths that you hav
16:25 isn't it more like 22,000? Because you had around 55,000 from before?
I spent it all to get closer to the traversal distorter, I just cut out the actual research part.
So what im hearing is that its entieely valid as a salvage antag to horde arti frags, then go into a major area, craft 20 artifacts, spray them and watch the apocalypse begin?
That'd be really funny honestly.
Biggest issue is getting onto salvage team
Last i played on average 75% of the server is queuing for the same 3 salvage roles
Would it be possible to make a modular grenade filled with artifactium? That would be a relatively safe way to set off that apocalypse...
Well the AMOUNT of artifakium dosent change anything, so just a burst wouldn't be ideal
But a foam or smoke of artifakium may, depending on how smoke/foam works, repeatedly activate the artifact every tick the foam/smoke is on it
Which would be... devestating
An advanced anomaly guide would be cool
I didn't know about that spray
Artifact crusher is used more for crushing people than crushing artifacts.
Change my mind

Every station requires science to research artifacts in their department.
But can you weaponize a locker full of artifacts. just bring a locker up to a nukie squad, they shoot it busting it open, ya spray like 10 small artifacts.

how do you update a private server?
wait so is there no point making new artifacts unless doing a more dangerous method?
No, you need to keep making artifacts, cause simple ones will run out of new nodes to research quickly, meaning they'll provide no research benefit.
I thought you extract points from whole artefact and not every time. Is it to be more safe?
An artifact generates points every time you activate a node for the first time. You can extract points little by little, or all at once in the end, or anything in between. I suppose doing it more often is safer. Imagine, an artifact full of points suddenly disappears on you...

Im suprise that the artifact did not blow up.

I hate you
Science is so shit in SS14
skill issue
@@ku5639 Wrong, it's easier than it is in SS13
Can you provide any constructive criticism as to why?
