Fun thing about Drey Keeper and Deranged Hermit is they're the "same" Elf and also illustrated both my Kev Walker. 6:45 for a side-to-side comparison :)
@Steak0, that is so cool, thanks for pointing that out now, I busted out my cards to check it out too. It's also cool that they are next to each other in my video!
What would you think about Saw in Half? Cheap Doubling Season effect when used with Pitiless Plunderer. Triples output from the hermits, 26 squirrels, helps with all the stompy wincons.
@@vex_mtg Well its a limited card. 1 is good for commander. I got one to use on a deep woods hermit. Followed it up with a Second Harvest. Then tried to finish the game with Triumph of the hordes. 150+ poison counters lol. They dropped a terfiris protection and i ended up sacking everything ftw next turn. But we had a good laugh about the best Teferi's in the history of mtg first.
Up until this episode I didnt realise that urzas saga keeps its abilities. That being said, wouldnt have been a turn one urzas saga the quickest play? Playing the natures lore in t2 leading to 3 lands in turn 3 plus sol ring.
@Nyakes, I'm not sure what the optimum play is. If the plan is to get Sol Ring, the possibly turn 1 Urza's Saga would have been the play. I guess I wanted to delay the decision and see what cards I was drawing.
@@vex_mtg of course! I love magic too and since ive recently just got into commander its nice to have a good creator that i can watch for some good advice and help and ideas 😁😁
This is very similar to my build with the exception of 3 or 4 cards… by far the best build I’ve seen. A lot of deck techs I’ve seen are all over the place.
Urza’s saga turn one was definitely the best play, even if you were 100% set on getting skull clamp off of it you still would have been able to get chatterfang out on turn three setting it up already for the squirrels you had on turn four
@Owen Tomlinson, I'm not sure what the optimum play is. I wanted to be a little bit slower in using Urza's Saga because losing my first turn land in EDH is painful. I guess it would really depend on what Commander's my opponents were playing. 🤷
I wasn't going to build Chatterfang, but then I had some store credit and I just built Yawgmoth, sooooo that's how I built Chatterfang. 12 year old me opening Squirrel Farm, the day has come!
Chatterfang and pitiless plunderer should be highlighted more, since it let's you turn chatterfang into a targeted boardwipe for free, and can go harder with cards like peregrine took or that one that gives a clue, treasure and food instead of one of those
Im sure there are lists that play this combo better, but I like Exquisite Blood and Dina, soul steeper in this deck. Gives you access to the fast GG's for those games you fall behind. It's not so tough thanks to cards like the zulaport providing direct damage and all the tutors. But if you are playing against green, its automatic with a forestwalk commander. Its bought me more than a few wins.
I did not add Parallel Lives or Doubling Season to my Chatterfang deck, to me they really just feel like win more cards and they often make you an instant target. I play mine a little more slyly and whittle my opponents life down a bit slower and seem less of a threat. Then I hit them with a 20 squirrel sacrificed Ashnod's Altar infused Torment of Hailfire and it's game over.
Indeed, the doublers make you an instant target. I just like to hope for a high roll with both and generate a million token. I just live for those rare moments.
You should put the cards that make all creatures a certain type like maskwpod nexus and conspiracy because theres a decent amount of non squirrels in there
All of them are generic squirrel tokens you can buy through the normal outlets (TCGplayer or Card Kingdom), except for the single different one which is from the “We Hope You Like Squirrels” Secret Lair.
Ummmmm... Why no Scute Swarm? You'd get so many Squirrels in the late game with Chatterfang that you could completely wipe your opponents' boards clean of creatures over and over! I would 100% replace Slimefoot Stowaway with Scute Swarm.

Chatterfang does absolute WORK in a tokens deck.
@Lis Liaer, I agree, Chatterfang is pretty good in token decks!
Very good stuff man. Thanks for doing such good work, I'm gonna build it.
Thanks! Good luck with your build.

Definitely a sweet card, worth a slot. Too bad I only own one and want to use it for Yarok.

Another amazing vid!
Thanks @Catit65.

Your deck list are literally some of my favorite there so nice!!
@Clout gang Supreme420, thanks for the support!

@Tony Garcia, I'm glad we think alike!
As a side note, nut collector is actually on “the list” now with mh2. So while not a full blown reprint, it may help a few more people get a copy.
@01MEGABOB, I forgot about that version. Thanks for the heads up!

@Vex MTG I love yiur squirrel deck
Thanks, I love it too!
@@vex_mtg I’m thinking about making that deck in the future
You should do it, it's really fun!
Please come back and update with the new Bloom Burrow set

Your cards look so good. How do they look this good.
@Reijiro Sato, good lighting, sleeves, and camera I guess. Plus some are foils!
2:54 Toski originated from the norse mythology representing Ratatoskr. Who is in fact an actual squirrel. Si ot has a lot to do with squirrels

Great vid! Building a Chatterfang deck as well. BTW, what mat are you using?
Thanks @SHUTupNrocK8. The playmat is UltraPro, Japanese War of the Spark Nissa.
Um, please, where did you get that squirrel mat that is displayed in the first few seconds of the video? I NEED IT.
@shuddy, that's just an insert from the Modern Horizons 2 Bundle, I wish it was a playmat.
@@vex_mtg Me too! I love it. My favorite card of all time is Deranged Hermit and has been ever since I cracked it in a pack back in middle school.
U considered scute swarm?
@C Ramirez, I did have Scute Swarm in the deck but decided to take it out because it turns the game for my opponents into a board wipe or bust game.
Chatterfang! My man!
@DAFT Vorpalz, SQUIRRELS!!!
You should put the cards that make all creatures a certain type like maskwpod nexus and conspiracy because theres a decent amount of non squirrels in there
@Catit65, I agree, Maskwood Nexus would be good in the deck.
Where'd you get those Squirrel tokens, and are they still available. I so want those for my Chatterfang deck.
All of them are generic squirrel tokens you can buy through the normal outlets (TCGplayer or Card Kingdom), except for the single different one which is from the “We Hope You Like Squirrels” Secret Lair.
@horrorfan117, are you taking about the metal ones? I got those 15 years ago so I don't remember, but I'm guess Etsy might have them.
What about Field of the Dead ? 😁
@Jul H, it's a good card, but you'll have to play more non-basics to make it work.
@@vex_mtg Snow lands :)

You really like hating on squirrel cards 😂
This deck is way too expensive for casual
@Y S, it is indeed on the high side, but there's always budget alternative to expensive cards.
This deck is wayyyy too expenisve xd
You can always do budget cards and a cheaper manabase.
Good stuff
@AdaWongMistress indeed!
