I'm a member of James River Church south campus in Ozark Missouri.
What you are hearing in this message is the biblical account of how Stephen a regular member of the church in Jerusalem was used by God to minister in great power to the other members of that church.
What you don’t get to see is how Pastor John and his wife Debbie are pastoring their own flock in what I’ll call the Stephen Principle, or Everyone Gets to Participate for lack of another term.
We’re in a unique season in the Church at James River where God has heaped blessings on our House. About six months ago we began to see miraculous healings begin with a trickle that has now reached a point where we’re seeing major healing miracles occur daily, certainly at every gathering. Pastor John spends ten to fifteen minutes reading testimonials at the beginning of each church service there are so many being healed. And then he calls the family together and if anyone needs healing the membership gathers around them to pray. There are so many attending the service that Pastor John becomes something of a traffic controller for several minutes where he and the voluntary hosts get everyone situated so that everyone has someone to pray for them.
The majority of these miracles do not come from the pastors or a great faith healer. Rather it is the regular church members quietly gathering around each other and asking God to heal their friends, neighbors, and family members… and it is happening.
What I’d like you to know if you’ve never been able to attend Church at James River is that these aren’t just intellectual concepts being taught as biblical history. This is the normative Christian practice in our church. What John is teaching about on the podium is how we do church; everyone gets to play…
