Still Austin cask strength is literally my favorite bourbon, I always recommend it to anyone I talk to who's looking for something new in the bourbon world. Since you both liked this one so much, I highly recommend trying the Iron Root Harbringer, it is very unique when compared against others. Of the Texas stuff, those two are true winners!

Glad you finally got to try it. Of all Texas whiskies, Still Austin Cask Strength was actually enjoyable. You might also like some Milam and Greene offerings, too.

Still Austin is the best TX Whiskey. My favorite is the Cask Strength. The 2TEN90 cask strength pick is fantastic. I also have a Liquor Barn cask strength store pick that was great. Still Austin Red Corn BIB is very smooth and good. 🥃

We have a sample of the 2ten90 pick. Looking forward to that one!

I LOVE this stuff!! Total Wine started carrying this juice in MN ($50) 11:15 about a month ago and I couldn’t wait to try it! They had a bottle open and was blown away after tasting it! I’m with you on Texas Whiskey being unique. Not a Balcones or Garrison fan…at all. However, my first time tasting Ironroot Harbinger (also at TW in MN for $50) changed my Texas ban. As with the Still Austin, the nose is fantastic! So glad you guys did this review! Great stuff at a great price point!

We haven't had Ironroot yet. We might have to pick one up!

Great review guys! I see the 2TEN90 pick has been mentioned below so I won't bore you with that but it's a top 5 bottle for me. It is my first Texas whiskey that I have liked/loved. Cheers guys!

I took this bottle to a bottle share recently. Most people really enjoyed it but was a little hot for some people that were new to whiskey. I enjoy it but I like all of Still Austin offerings

Not a big whiskey drinker and this stuff was really hot. Great with Dr.P. I was able to get it for $45 at my Totally Wine in Georgia 12/2023

Ditto. I couldn't agree more that somehow, Still Austin can do a great job creating a Texas whiskey I truly enjoy. And the price is great! I have tried multiple others and I end up giving them to my brother-in-law (born and raised in TX). I think Garrison Brothers has to be the worst because they think you should be grossly overcharged in order to gag on something undrinkable. I will definitely keep this one regularly on hand!

An outstanding bourbon. The single barrel cask strength is about $30.00 more. Its good, but not for $30.00 more.
Just get the regular cask strength bottle. You won't be disappointed.
I'm actually getting another bottle tomorrow.

Well…. Just by reading the first comment it looks like Still Austin won you over like it did me. We’re in a very similar boat with the Texas Whiskey. I still haven’t found a Garrison Brother’s or Balcones that I would recommend. The closest I’ve come to liking either of those is the Balmorhea, not by actually liking it, I just don’t NOT like it, LOL. Know you guys need to compare that shelfer to the 2TEN90 pick (which has a magnificent nose) and the Nancy Fraley pick which is incredible on the palate (with a tad higher proof. Great Video! Cheer’s guys!! 🥃🪓

Tried it at TW a while back. Could be into it if I’m in the right mood but it’s definitely still tx whiskey - not a bad thing but different and noticeable. Would be very curious about their bib offering.

Looks like you can get this fo $44 at Total Wine and $34 for the small batch. They are also part of the Spirits Direct so you can add a little more savings if you are a member.

It's been a strange morning. I've watched you two rave about a Texas whiskey and a pig just flew by the house outside.

Nancy Fraley blended this one so that probably helps a lot.

The bottle I picked up tasted like pickle juice. Seeing everyone talking about how good this bottle is makes me think I may have gotten a tainted bottle.

I just bought a bottle Dec 22nd and have only had a neck pour, which I poured back into the bottle half way through. I was thinking I might be able to use it for washing car parts but certainly not for drinking. I'll try it one more time. P.S. I am a native Texan from north of the Austin area, so I certainly have no "Texas" prejudice.

I agree that many Texas whiskeys are in their own world, however, besides Still Austin, there are at least three Texas whiskeys that are very good. The first is The Prideful Goat Cask Strength Rye. To me it does not have that Texas funk. The second is Milam and Greene Port Finished Rye. This rye did get a vote in the recent Ascot awards. The third is Saints Alley Bourbon Port and Cognac Cask. All three are really good and tasted blind, I think you would not think these are Texas whiskeys. Please keep an open mind. Not all Texas whiskeys taste the same.

We just started getting Milam and Greene in MN. I'll probably pick one up at some point.

Liked Musician and Artist, disliked Cask strength, feels very young and unbalanced. JMHO.

Interesting. We haven't had anything but cask strength versions of Still Austin. We're definitely going to be trying more of their stuff. Cheers!
