As a happy owner of a 7S26-driven Seiko, I have grown used to setting it on Monday morning if I haven't worn it over the weekend or tweaking the minute hand a bit here or there once or twice a week for the reliability and style for the exceptionally low price-point. And for a small price upgrade, Seiko offers models with the 4R36 which offers hand-winding and hacking convenience.
Glad to see another Seiko video. I recently finally bought my first watch. A Seiko King Turtle diver with ceramic bezel, saphire crystal, a 4R36 movement, day/date function, and hacking for $850 CA. This watch is seriously overlooked.
Congrats on your purchase. They sell a truckload of turtles, king turtles included. Given a large number of variations within this family, the king sits above the basic turtles (non ceramic bezel models) and a small stretch away from the “superior” Willard remake models. I believe this makes buying the king a slightly interesting proposition. In addition to this, the seiko five sports sk5 was exploding hard , land tortoise was released not long after (better dimensions for me), both cheaper from memory. I don’t think the KING TURTLE was overlooked, I think it’s in that price point that pivots the buyers up or down.
@ChromeMan04 I agree with this but what is sad is the 4R36 movements may even be more accurate than the 6R15 which was placed on $800 watches and is pretty bad in accuracy. It was always toted as being better but my examples of it run so so bad.

Seiko is really in its stride now: it's executing very good watch designs for all budgets, and at the same time bringing genuine technical and artistic innovation to the industry. They're also spreading the design and artistic innovation across all ranges, and not just limiting to the exclusive lines. The Presage range has stunning dials echoing the best of Grand Seiko, the Prospex range is adopting new materials and finishes. No it doesn’t lmao this watch was extremely disappointing for 100k, they even had to hire a Swiss watchmaker to train them since they couldn’t figure it out
@@DirtFather407 Train them on what? That's a very non-specific comment. I doubt there's very much the artisans at Grand Seiko don't know about high-end watchmaking. All companies bring in "experts" in particular fields for assistance and I bet any amount of money that the top Swiss brands have all done that too because they "couldn't figure out" something.
This particular watch, SNXS79 came out in 2013. They cost much more than 100.00 dollars NEW. Around 400 dollars I believe. The 100 dollar price is, and usually here in the states for NOS, gray market Around 150 /160 dollars . I bought one a couple months ago, love it, its my daily and it loses about 1 minute every 8 to 9 days. That's great by me.
Just got the SNXF05 and it's sublime to say the least. I did try on a GS White Birch and about 6 to 7 k is maximum what these watches should be priced at... As you said...to notice the perfection of the GS you need optical equipment in order to fully appreciate it. Awesome watch but definitely not 1000x better than the SNX. Thank you for this clip! Amazing info, buttery voice and shots
I own a seiko 2629-0149 (1080s era) quartz watch and cannot get the se726w battery to stay in place. Is there a video on this, or repair facility to work on this?
How much cost a SEIKO 7625-1990? I have two in my collection, one it’s have stamped Seiko on the dial and the other doesn’t have on the dial Both have the same value? Thanks let me know
Actually, if one is only $100 and the other $100,000, then the difference is $99,900. That means a disparity of 99,900%. (percent = per 100) Another correct way to say it would that the price is 1000 times higher. (And yes, I am fun at parties...) 🙂
It's interesting that this video ends by speaking on Seiko's ability to cater to both ends of the price spectrum, but the Moonswatch video contends that Swatch damages the Omega brand. I think Omega is taking a page out of Seiko's playbook.
This is because the fan base for each brand is different. Omega fans (just my opinion) buy into it sometimes thinking they are better than others for owning a more expensive watch (similar to BMW owners) but Seiko owners do not have a stake in the show boat game. That is not why you buy a Seiko. It actually is something that has hurt the Seiko branding for their more expensive watches but true watch guys see thru all that.
Can someone please tell me where can I buy the SNXS79 shown in the video?!?!?? I've looked everywhere online. I love the gray with the turquoise accent inside the watch
This is the type of watch i want to wear.how do i find one for myself.there were also watches like oris, rado, henkel, omega ,all mechanical.what went wrong?
With my recent purchase of the SNXS79 I now have added my 3rd "under $500" watch on the recommendation of Watch finder. The is a handsome watch, well worth the $150 retail price.
Have an omega AT that's had a major overhaul after seven years, water and salt, with 30% of it placed in a bag, and it now keeps excellent time. I'm always thinking Sieko though, maybe I take alook at the GS 36k as I find the coax a bit "slow"
That GS is simply breathtaking. For all the hate that's lumped on the Spring Drive and all the Rolex fanboys that come back with 'the fit and finish on my datejust is soo much better than that GS' , Grand Seiko truly produces some of the most beautiful and emotion evoking watches in the world. (and that seiko 5 for $100 bucks is a heckuva deal!)
@@A_Dude_And_His_Watch78 Rolex’s look better and personally the movements look cooler too. For the price of a GS you could just save up a lil extra and get a used ALS watch which is far better
@@DirtFather407 This is obviously opinion but I really couldn't justify picking a Rolex over a spring drive. The spring drive is a more technologically advanced movement as is. I never really thought of buying a Rolex because of its movements, which are fairly simple as far was luxury watches go. The Rolex 3000 series movements are what going on to 30 years old now? I figure if you buy a Rolex its because its a Rolex, and that's good enough. I'm not going to say one company is better than the other, just that as far as movements are concerned I'd pick GS over Rolex. Opinion of course. As for finishing it would really depend on which models you compare between the two companies.
I'm tempted to buy the MoonSwatch as my first proper watch that I buy with my own money, but then every time I see a well engineered Seiko 5, I got swayed off again. Should I go with the hype?
Hey man, tbh I think you should for a proper watch(Seiko, orient etc..) as your first. The moonswatch is definitely a watch I'm gonna get but only because I already have a few mechanical watches. After all the choice is yours and you should get what you like. If bezel alignment is such a thing for you, get a nice racing chronograph with a bi-directional bezel that just doesn't have clicks. :) Otherwise, the SBGA375 will serve you exceptionally well.
@@Chrissepisje thanks for the encouragement. I havent closed my doors from owning a GS one day, but not the priority for the next watch purchase. I really hope when i finally get my hands on my first GS everything will be perfectly aligned, for my OCD's sake. 😅
snxs77 is in my collection, which collection contains 12 watches and the largest one in my collection is 8,000 euros, the cheapest is 100 euros, the most accurate is what costs 100 euros SNXS77
6:37 this shot is simply incredible!
Grand Seiko's finishing leaves even the finest Swiss and German watches in the dust.
No it doesn’t lmao this watch was extremely disappointing for 100k, they even had to hire a Swiss watchmaker to train them since they couldn’t figure it out
@@DirtFather407 What does that have to do with finishing? Look at AP's, Pateks etc under a macro lens and compare to a Grand Seiko.
A spring drive chronograph has been on my watch bucket list for 10 years, they are just so amazing and innovative, one day, one day
This particular watch, SNXS79 came out in 2013.
Got mine for only 70 bucks, brand new. JDM version 😘
1:28 talking about the Seiko 5 "from a watchmaker older than Seiko". What am I missing?
The only flaw I could find was at 10:10, where there’s a dimple in the flat of the blue screw. 😅
Content monster lately.. Glad of it
Just got the SNXF05 and it's sublime to say the least.
Did Seiko discontinue the Seiko 5 series? I've looked at their website and couldn't find it. Do I have to get a pre-owned Seiko 5?
As an SNXS79 owner myself, I can only confirm it is a great watch. It's my daily driver and if it breaks down I will most likely buy another one.
No doubt. I have mine for 4 years now. Still works like a charm.
If it breaks down you should get it fixed. Would be a shame for a watch with so much character to then just die off.
@@Daniel-dj7fh the cost of repair not worth it.. Better off buy a new one.. Is it worth to repair an old cheap movement?
Description is very lyrical. Impressed.
1:32, I presume is supposed to be "older than Rolex" or something?
Absolutely. Watch some more of his videos.
I own a seiko 2629-0149 (1080s era) quartz watch and cannot get the se726w battery to stay in place. Is there a video on this, or repair facility to work on this?
How much cost a SEIKO 7625-1990? I have two in my collection, one it’s have stamped Seiko on the dial and the other doesn’t have on the dial
Both have the same value?
Thanks let me know
Joke's on you Watchfinder, I already own the SNXS79. Your price hypes cannot harm me!
Actually, if one is only $100 and the other $100,000, then the difference is $99,900.
That means a disparity of 99,900%. (percent = per 100)
Another correct way to say it would that the price is 1000 times higher.
(And yes, I am fun at parties...) 🙂
Came here to say this. I'm also fun at parties!
I've been looking for Seiko 5 snka05k1 everywhere, but can't find it. Did they discontinue the Seiko 5 series? Any lead would be greatly appreciated.
The Seiko 5 in Video is the same one i have for many years and still works. Grand seiko dial just looks amazing.
Stunning dial on the cheaper watch makes it look even better than the expensive one...
@@akeyasa2228 strawman argument
seiko's playbook? with plastic watches? quartz? acrylic? My 6 years old seiko5 doesn't feel that CHEAP, bro.
Just check reports how the moonswatchs leave paint on hands. Cheap technology
As an Omega owner, I have to agree that a lot of them are elitist snobs.
What do you have to say about San Martin watches?
What color dial is that on the SNXS79?
Can someone please tell me where can I buy the SNXS79 shown in the video?!?!?? I've looked everywhere online. I love the gray with the turquoise accent inside the watch
This is the type of watch i want to wear.how do i find one for myself.there were also watches like oris, rado, henkel, omega ,all mechanical.what went wrong?
I want both of them. My luxury watch is a GS quartz movement 9F85 and it in itself would compliment each of these beauties.
Where can a buy the Seiko with grey dial and blue day/date function
Where can I buy this SNXS79? It's not on your website.
which color option is this SNXS?
6:36 is the craziest macro shot of a watch I’ve ever seen
Any link to purchase this ?
Seiko is my favorite watch brand. Very iconic and they have something for everyone.
I hope you will shed some light on the Seiko Alpinist models in the future!
At 1:30, I think you meant from a watchmaker older than "Rolex" and not "Seiko" :)
Zoom at 9:56 is 🔥
The green coloured days indicator is so elegant. It made the $100 has a character.
I think it is only green on SAT
With my recent purchase of the SNXS79 I now have added my 3rd "under $500" watch on the recommendation of Watch finder. The is a handsome watch, well worth the $150 retail price.
What are your other two?
Where can I buy the SNXS79
Have an omega AT that's had a major overhaul after seven years, water and salt, with 30% of it placed in a bag, and it now keeps excellent time. I'm always thinking Sieko though, maybe I take alook at the GS 36k as I find the coax a bit "slow"
Say what u may but 4R36 rules this turf... Absolutely in love with that movement... ❤❤
I can hear this guys poetic commentary all day any day. Legend. Anyone knows his name?
That GS is simply breathtaking. For all the hate that's lumped on the Spring Drive and all the Rolex fanboys that come back with 'the fit and finish on my datejust is soo much better than that GS' , Grand Seiko truly produces some of the most beautiful and emotion evoking watches in the world. (and that seiko 5 for $100 bucks is a heckuva deal!)
Honestly the finishing on GS is better than Rolex. The only thing Rolex fan boys can really claim as superior is the bracelet.
@@A_Dude_And_His_Watch78 Rolex’s look better and personally the movements look cooler too. For the price of a GS you could just save up a lil extra and get a used ALS watch which is far better
@@DirtFather407 wrong
@@DirtFather407 Better? No chance.
Where can you get this exact SNXS79 in the UK?
I love seiko and one day I would love the GS, top review thank you 🤙🏻
How did you come up with or make the background music for your videos?
Where to buy the snxs79??
I'm tempted to buy the MoonSwatch as my first proper watch that I buy with my own money, but then every time I see a well engineered Seiko 5, I got swayed off again.
Should I go with the hype?
Hey man, tbh I think you should for a proper watch(Seiko, orient etc..) as your first. I'm a student and I'm a huge watch enthusiast and from the research I've done about the moonswatch, in build quality wise it's not that good and after all it's just swatch which by the name goes (second watch) you can much better watches with the same or even lower. The moonswatch is definitely a watch I'm gonna get but only because I already have a few mechanical watches. After all the choice is yours and you should get what you like. Hope you make a good one decision for your first watch because it's where your journey in the watch world begins. Have a good day bro
Sorry for the typos :/
@@ricardomeyer1489 no Prob, thanks for the feedback, I really gotta have to resist that Speedmaster Case really. But do think you're right, will find a Seiko 5 or Presage model that suits my tasdye the most, but having a MoonSwatch is Definitely in my radar in the future, at leatt when situation Calms down and it really are becoming more fo a commodity.
I'd tell you to go with the Seiko. Steel watch, beautiful finishing, automatic movement that is super reliable, sun burst dial, rather than a Semi plastic, quartz watch, with a poor strap that is double its price. You want quality, Seiko. You want hype, Swatch.
Watches in general are hype right now
What's the cost of both watch if
Anyone tell me
The SBGD001 is the GS that got me into GS. After holding it in the flesh during a HODINKEE NYC event, I found an SBGA125 for my wrist and never looked back.
Oooof! I have so many Seiko's. I feel kind of proud. From the 5's, through the divers, up to the GS Snowflake. Said Snowflake I purchased basically on a whim. There was this evening going to a GS dealer, just to take a look. And he told me that they have a Snowfalke there. Right now! A one that was reserved, but the guy didn't show up. I reserved it, told them to wait, went back home, watched the Snoflake video from Watchfinder to adjust myself and the next morning went there and bought it. I will never regret it. Every time I put it on my wrist it feels special. Much more special than any Rolex I had on my wrist...
Does anyone know where I can get this watch legit and brand new ?
1:28 Seiko is older than Seiko? What does that even mean?
I really appreciate the footage you guys get, what are your thoughts on garmin smart watches? I'd love to see a spring drive smart watch haha
I got the snkl23, and its definitely worth the hype, everything seems so perfect.
Where are you finding this watch for $100. I'm not seeing it for that low anywhere.
Can anyone pls show me where I can purchase the SNXS79 ?
Hi sir how much price
Does Anyone know where I can buy the SNX79 in the dark grey color? I've been looking online but I can only find the black or midnight black versions.
fantastic channel
thanks
I also have a Seiko watch it's a Seiko 5 21 automatic jewels
SNXS79 is closer to a $200 watch. No way you magically found someone selling it at $100 just a few days ago.
Unfortunately seiko snxs79k is not available in India
Please do a video on the SARB033 / SARB035
Thank you for making this video.
I'am guy who prefers practical usefulness over fancy things you are afraid to wear/use .) So I have one Seiko5 Automatic and two Casio Quartz. One analog dial only second one combi of display and analog dial. All stainless, durable and perfectly usable for daily carry.
Sorry to be a pedant but 1000% is 10x. Since the price is 1,000x, its 100,000%.
