Hi everyone! I hope you will find this tutorial to be useful. When I began my journey on the Korg Electribe a few months ago I had to do a lot of research to figure out many of the information provided here. Although there are quite a few very good tutorials out there, none that I found covered all the possible workflows in full details. Hope you will enjoy that and thank you so much for watching! 🙏 (Also please let me know in the comments what else you want me to create to tutorials for) ⚡️Random Noise⚡️
Hi Random Noise, indeed there are not many tutorials that cover Electribe 2 functions. So thank you for doing this!! It would be interesting to see how to set up E2 to make MIDI control changes (cc) in plugins of a DAW.. just an idea :)
Fantastic tutorial! Many thanks for taking the time to put these videos about the Electribe 2 together. Really useful stuff✨🙌🙌🙌✨🙂✨👍✨ Keep up the good work.✨👍✨
Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate that you say it, I am happy to know that this content is being helpful! The Electribe has a warm place in my heart, there is something unique and special about its old school sound and vibes. I hope to see Korg keep investing in this line of products. The "Tribe" is real! 👊
@@RandomNoiseMusic That's right! I have this passion about Electribe too, and I've been struggle to find real and update content about it. Its unique timber is something we can do a lot. Also I wanna say that your video of ambience with Electribe got me inspired. Thank u! You have my support =)
Hey thanks bro ! It helped me a lot just got one and was struggling to compose on ableton. Now i got it. Just have to compose now. Having a sequencer really change the way to make music it's way much easier. Now i just need to check synchronizing parts and i'm good to go. Cheers
Thank you so much for this video! I wanted to ask if it is possible to play with Groove Depth on Midi out as well? I was planning to trigger the DAW with the sequencer of the Electribe for that unique groove and swing. Many thanks again.
I have the same issue of the other user. When I plug the electribe 2 Ableton do not see it, instead I have a sparkle that when is plugged via usb on pc appears immediately under preference > midi . I have windows 10 and Ableton 10 . How can I solve this issue?
Hi thanks for Share... When you send midi from DAW to ES2 .... You can assign effects from ES2 to each channel? Like Filter, accent, reverb, etc?? And the i can to record to my DAW the sound changes in real time? Thanks..
Yes you can send midi control to control some of the parameters. I've never tried to record it back into the Electribe though, should be possible, but I think you might need to record just a few automation per time because I am not sure if it the cpu is strong enough to take much information.
hey :) congratulations for the video from where do you have the information that the outputs of the electribe 2 are balanced? couldn't find anything in the description. it's ok so to use two TRS jacks instead on two TS jacks?
Thanks! 🙏🏻 I saw it in the manual of the Electribe under the connections diagram: TIP: "While the output signal is sent in mono, the jack supports both mono and stereo 1/4" cable connections." cdn.korg.com/us/support/download/files/0b4a3c5f3361280358cd6c9c7f9e8b6f.pdf?response-content-disposition=inline%3Bfilename%2A%3DUTF-8%27%27electribe2_2s_OM_EFGSCJ3.pdf&response-content-type=application%2Fpdf%3B
I am very impressed by your techniques and knowledge...thanks for sharing ... But yet, i still have a problem, i am connecting my electribe 2 sampler with a usb directly to mh PC, yet seems like neither my PC nor my Ableton are able to see it as a midi device ...any suggestions ?
Thank you! 😊 Umm its very hard to tell.. did you try troubleshooting things like changing the usb cable, or connecting it to different inputs on your pc? As far as I know there is nothing to install and the computer should automatically recognize it in Ableton. But I use a Mac, so I don't know much about how it works on Windows..
@@RandomNoiseMusic Thanks a lot for your quick response i really appreciate it.... as i noticed you are talking about Electribe 2 while i am talking about Electribe Sampler 2...do you think it creates a difference ? and only a USB cable is needed ?
They should in theory be exactly the same from what I understand so yes, they both share the same hardware. For controlling the E2 from Ableton you can either use the USB connection or connect it to a MIDI port and send the midi cables from it to the E2. But the USB should work perfectly fine by default if the unit has no issue
What is a micro usb to midi cable? You can connect the Electribe to a computer to transfer midi in between with a regular micro usb cable if thats what you mean. Any basic cable like this should work (i just picked a random one from Amazon, never ordered from there): Amazon Basics USB 2.0 A-Male to Micro B Cable, 10 feet, Black a.co/d/9aptVkk
I connected the Korg to the Mac with the USB cable, but for Ableton there is nothing! Is there any presetting I need to do first? still great tutorial thanks
Umm what do you mean by 'nothing'? when you go to Ableton Midi preference, do you see the Electribe 2 in the list of midi devices? if not, there might be some issue with your cable. It automatically show up there once plugged to the the computer via usb, there is nothing special to do or install
Oh I see. I am using Mac and its working fine.. You can use the Midi connections instead then. If you have a Midi interface, you can connect it to the Electribe through the special cables that come with it (from Midi to phone jack)
First of all: thanks for the tutorial! But i still have a question: I have the Electribe 2 and I'm a total newby to Ableton and music production. I tried to connect my Electribe via USB to my computer and Ableton is recognizing it. The problem is that i do not hear any sounds that I trigger on the Electribe in Ableton. Do I have to connect the Electribe via an audio interface to hear its sound? Or is it possible to record the Electribe sounds in Ableton while only using the USB port?
Thanks for watching! Yes, you need to either use an audio interface and record the Electribe into Ableton Live using audio channel, or export the audio from the Electribe and then import it to Live. Unfortunately Electribe does not support audio over USB, its only used for MIDI
Are you trying to connect the keyboard directly to the Electribe? As far as I know the midi channels on the Electribe pads are fixed. You will need to do that from the keyboard side instead. Most keyboards should have this option to decide to which channel you want to send midi. Just keep in mind that every pad on the Electribe is a midi channel of its own, so you can’t play it like a drum kit a cross a few keys for example
Anybody uses E2 as a PURE MIDI controller for Abletone? Can I use same knob for different Ableton channels control by switching pads (Trigger-Pad 1-16) the same way like 1 knob control parameters for 16 different voices of E2?
Great tutorial, the weird thing is that the external instrument doesnt respond after a while wich is really strange. The midi notes that I have played in doest trigger the sounds anymore. You ever had this problem?
Thanks! umm do you mean temporary not working, or stopped working for you completely? I would first check the cable and try another one just to make sure
@@RandomNoiseMusic Well, I am working with midi notes through the external instrument ableton plugin. Everything is working great, after a while I am changing paramaters on the Electribe all of a sudden there is no sound anymore and the midi notes dont trigger any sounds.
I only need that from the Electribe, that it triggers on the midi notes. For the rest I record live. What settings are the only ones I need if you look at the MIDI ports?

I never tried it, but I think it should be possible since you can send midi out from the E2 to your DAW, the swing and groove are just midi as well
Great tutorial. Thank you

bro, why is doesn't sound the KORG ? I can see it play, Ableton detect it, but like the signal of audio is not.. I have connected via USB
Audio is not passed through the USB on the Electribe 2, you have to connect it to an audio interface to be able to record/listen to it on the computer
Hey brother
How can we change electribe midi in pad , inside electribe only, I m sending midi from keyboard, but it's receiving on 12th pad/channel 💐

No I don't think so, there is no pre amp on the E2 as far as I know..
