BB & 2ne1 were reaching heights back then and having tours even without socmed or the TH-cam era before Wondergirls on American Show you have watched. Plus YG artists have been the icebreaker among Kpop - from hiphop roots to incorporating EDM into songs, having BB produce on their own and not rely solely on producers from the west, or domestically; high budget videos at that time (2ne1), world tours, etc. If they weren’t ahead of their time, Kpop mainstream would still be the same Korean music wave probably - trot, ballads, pop, etc. It’s just Big 3 were competitive with each other that it advanced into more diversity when BB emerged.

Like yes, bigbang attends awards in US way before BTS but it was not as sensational as when BTS did. Other kpop groups also have a lot of fanbase outside of asia but they did not make it mainstream. Im not saying one is better than the other but give credits where it's due. Cheers

Big Bang are legends. They don’t need crazy choreo, their stage presence is enough for people to go crazy and sing along with them.
They pretty much invented the "It's a YG thing" mantra
Bigbang was way ahead of the times. Imagine if they were active now in the time of YT, IG, Twitter, etc...as legendary as they became before social media.
They had TH-cam. I watched a lot of their Mvs on youtube

Today's TH-cam uses much more advanced algorithms to recommend users videos that they'd probably be interested in. Back in the day, before you would watch a Bigbang MV on TH-cam, you'd have to hear about it from some other source first. A friend, Korean TV shows (no subtitles), the radio if you lived in Asia, etc. Of course no Instagram or TikTok to help them promote songs before they even released.

In my opinion bigbang's stage presence and connection with the audience and camera is unmatched. They're a group that doesn't care about crazy choreography or synchronized dancing (note: mad respect for other groups that do that) even though they are all great dancers but their main focus is definitely to have have fun on stage and show their individual personalities. I really love that
I’ve been VIP for 14 years now. I won’t ever get over them. Their songs is part of my childhood memories. Even my siblings whos not kpop fans know their songs since i played it most of the time. Everytime i hear their songs its always seems like its the first time im hearing it. Brings back good memories for me.
