London fireworks are usually done by Titanium Fireworks. Look up Illusion Fireworks who do various musical themed events around the UK or look up the Fireworks Championships.

That evening we had me as the lighting technician for the lighting and the fireworks technicians for the fireworks and we had drones for the sky images. And we had speakers dotted along the bank of the Thames where the audience are standing but London can can take sydneys fireworks display and take it to a whole new level
As you mentioned that you were at london but couldnt see big ben that was because big ben was silenced in august 2017 to allow restoration work to Elizabeth tower which houses it Westminster said it was unsafe for workers to work next to such a loud bell the only time we saw big ben reactived during the 4 year peroid was rememberance sunday and the festive peorids after those events big ben got silenced again for the work to continue
Happy new year even though it 6 days ago😂, but can you react past London new year fireworks between 2010-2024 my personal favourite is the 2020 new year it's very synchronised and very smoky because of the fireworks of course and it was so smoky that the poor cameraman on the helicopter had to live shot it behind the eye😂 And if you were wondering about those light on the sky they are drones.
Boats will have been restricted - most Western capitals were on high alert - including London - The houses of parliament are next to / attached to Big Ben and front the river plus such a large gathering of people - Basically could be deemed a security risk - sad that we have to think like this, but we do, unfortunately through experience. - the cost of the fireworks is around £2million for the 12,000 or so that they used - that's just buying them, then add the organising etc.
The actual reason for it will be because there is a minimum spectator distance. The boats would likely be too close to the fireworks breaking rules so they use the bridges as a reference for how close you are allowed to get
Don't live in a big city unless you can handle some persase. It's what London does and has done for centuries. Can't handle the heat. Move out of the kitchen permanently and period.
The tickets are £100 each and 10,000 people go to it ( £10,000000 ) for the show I was there myself, and people came from all over the world to see it.

No issue with flying as the fireworks only go up at most 1,000 feet, airplanes fly much higher! 😊
