I think Turkish maintenance crews deserve upmost credit to keep those old birds in such a condition. We call them ' baba Phantom', baba means 'father' in Turkish. Few plane models have such a reliable reputation as F-4. TurAF uses them mainly for the air to ground missions with upgraded avionics etc to carry larger munitions that F-16s can't. Also they are being used in some testings of the new ammunition, bombs etc because it flies extremely stable, as the pilots say. Thanks for the video
When I was a kid in the 70's and 80's, my best friend's dad was a backseater in the Phantom for the Illinois Air National Guard. The unit was established after WWII and originally flew P-51s. For the 40th anniversary, the put every airworthy F-4 they had in the air at the same time, and you could hear the noise for MILES. It was incredible.
As a kid from the 70s I dreamed of being an F-4 pilot thanks to my Dinky F-4 toy. I never got to fly an F-4, but the inspiration they gave led me to work on the code for the HUDs and HUDWACs for platforms from C-17 and F-16 to Eurofighter. I would have never done that if it were not for the impact seeing F-4s at Mildenhall in the early 1970s had on me.
The big beautiful Phantom, makes your heart miss a beat and gives you a shiver down your spine, this is a proper plane, none of your modern weird looking things. So glad to have seen them when they were in service. Thanks Elwyn for this excellent Christmas present!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
10:15 I was very fortunate during the early 1970's to be stationed at a base with multiple F-4 squadrons. Phantoms flying every day. Very versatile aircraft!
Black one looks like it’s got an angry Phil Collins on the rear stabilizer. Seriously though, thank you Turkey for taking such good care of these incredible aircraft.
It may be the most handsome aircraft of all time. Thanks to the meticulous maintenance of Turkish Air Force technicians, they are still in pristine condition and usable as they were on the first day.
What a treat - my favorite icon the F-4 - it still has for me an ageless attraction and was a McDonnell Douglas' winner of design. Impressive parade at the end. You sure do travel places Elwyn! :)
I love this plane in Turkish colors. There are also a few paintings, like the one to celebrate the 70th anniversary of NATO. Beautiful machines, beautifully painted. At least in DCS World I can fly it 😁
This is just absolutely brilliant amazing fantastic these aircrafts are superb. Thank you Elwyn so much merry christmas to you and everyone & I hope you have a wonderful new year keep well keep safe please
Hi Elwyn R, Great video as always I look 👀 forward to all your videos as I know they will be great love them thanks Elwyn R, Take care of yourself and stay safe.✈️✈️⭐️⭐️👍👌🎅🎄
Hola ElwynR, feliz Navidad. Fantástico video de los Phantom turcos. Donde está esa localización para poder contemplar y grabar, casi a mano, esas maravillosas imagenes que nos compartes? No parece Mach loop en País de Gales.
Hi Elwyn. A great and evocative video. If things go tits up and NATO ends up fighting Russia without the US courtesy of the 'Cheese Coloured Surrender Monkey' selling Ukraine down the river the Turks would play a massive part. They don't throw away old kit like tanks and planes. Rather they up grade and maintain them. Way to go. Top vid. 👍🏻🙂
Any material that enters our inventory never expires. There are no old planes, there are only neglected planes. That's why planes or tanks can never be retired. It is modernized and returned to the field again.
Hush up you ! Show some respect for those who flew these great aircraft ! You have no idea of how many combat missions they participated, and many did not call back ! Obviously you know nothing about service ! Peace ✌️ !

Crazy with no parts available they can keep those things combat ready!
they had F16 production lines and their own design planes such as Hurjet and Kaan, I guess they can produce part for it
