PORTA-BOTE ASSEMBLY

  • The 10-foot Porta-Bote, Alpha Series, is actually 10-feet 8-inches long and 5-feet (60-inches) wide. Hull weight is 78 lbs. We bought this boat to bring to Texas to use along the coast in saltwater and around razor-sharp oyster beds. It is durable enough for both. The hull is 0.6 cm thick (almost 1/4-inch) High Impact Polypropylene-Copolymer developed for aerospace use.
It folds flat which makes it easy to transport.
You can row it for exercise, put up to a 6-HP motor (Suzuki is 52 lbs) (56 lb limit), electric motor, or use a sail kit to sail it.
Music: Thousand Words, Acoustic Sun Instrumental, mp3 audio file from Triple Scoop Music within Corel Video Studio X8.

Great video, great instructions on how you assembled your boat. Please post some videos on how you find the boat on the water. It would be good to see how the boat does in the water and running with a motor attached, etc. Nice work guys.

I just purchased a 10ft 2021 with Bimini top + other accessories, that Bimini top looks like a Dreadful nightmare although once the Bimini is assembled mounting/dismounting don't seem to be too much of a task, so thank you for this how to video which is very detailed by the way & much needed & appreciated.

@@Colorado1derful It's unbelievable that my boat has been in the shipping state of wrapping since purchase but in 2023 it will have it's maiden voyage, finally. Do you both still have the boat or did you sell it and if you did so, why? Oh by the way this is"Gonzo Bongo" had to change my avatar.

@@bayside6207 Nothing wrong with the boat, but we decided we needed a center console fishing boat with motor to get around faster. We sold it to a guy using it in his business to maneuver around in canals in Texas.

I as well ordered the Bimini top, is it useful ? Is the Bimini top flimsy/finicky or does it function as intended ? Thank you in advance.

    A few additional tricks
When first opening the bote, kneel with 1 knee on the lower edge of the bote, push upper side away. Use spreader bar to open rest of way. Start spreader bar near the stern so the stern flexes open the maximum distance. This makes hole alignment in transom easier. The hole alignment is the most trying part. Be sure the spreader bar square cut out is positioned so it can catch the near (bottom) edge when the bote is half open; this gives you a chance to rest. I lost some of the hardware; I replaced with clevis pins or long nuts and bolts. Try to get bolts with a round loop as the head, much easier to tighten by hand. Seats go in easier if the middle bracket is canted off to the side; use the spreader bar to push it in place after slotted side holes are bolted. Install the cart wheels near the rear at first as the sides are near vertical; then slide them forward as needed for balance. The further forward you move the wheels, the lighter the front end is to pick up
