Somebody asked Tesla vs BYD. I heard that BYD does not separate hybrid sales from pure electric (BEV) sales. If this is true how are they claiming they sell more BEV’s than Tesla?
For years, the media reporting about BYD used the total NEV (new energy vehicles, includes hybrids) numbers to claim BYD is outselling Tesla in BEVs. The only quarter when BYD really outsold Tesla was Q4/2023. We´ll see what happenes in Q1 but since BYD is growing faster, they probably will sell more pure BEVs in 2024.

This all true, but Tesla was overvalued to the extreme to begin with, now it's just getting to somewhat logical valuation.
If it's at logical value, that's exactly where we want it to be... Because if it gets hyped again at the age of robotics, release of cybertruck or w/e else causes FOMO. That's the time to cash in. Logical valuations just limit downside.

The lack of knowledge about Tesla among so-called investors is downright stunning. Most have no clue what this company is doing and only go by the FUD they hear. Pay attention people. Tesla has multiple businesses that are heading towards crazy growth.
Tom what are your thoughts on Nvdia being the AI brain for the majority of robotics companies, as presented last night by Jensen, and they also noted they plan to be the same go-to software for autonomous driving as well. Very interesting

Weren't bull analysts using 50% yoy, 20% margin and FSD in their price targets? Now, growth might be looking at single digits for Q1, margins decreasing with price cuts and red sea issues. Now Nvidia getting into the FSD game? Any of this correct? Any of this get people thinking?

Rates are going down. Winner of FSD is the one with the most miles driven data. Markets are forward looking. Rates down help auto.

Tom, I agree with everything you said about Tesla’s future. But it appears that Tesla’s runway is a lot longer than other investments at this moment. I would rather deploy my investments into owning (self custody) Bitcoin and in my IRA & brokerage accounts I rather own MSTR, COIN & bitcoin etfs. I sold Tesla at the beginning of the year and made those changes and I am up 30% - 70% while Tesla takes a dump. I knew that I should have gotten out of Tesla after the Fed raised rates not understanding that Tesla is interest rate sensitive. IMO we will have rates higher for longer which will lengthen Tesla’s runway. I will consider DCA back into Tesla after this Bitcoin cycle. Here is the million dollar question. . . Does Tesla outperform Bitcoin??? . . . Ever?

The problem is that future expectations have gone down and thus the extreme multiples of the past are no longer justified.
I like Tesla but undervalued?...cmon. It's got a 40 PE and even for a growth software company that's expensive let alone if you consider it a car company. It's only catching up to its valuation and the company's performance has definitely got worse the past year.
You describe it like the stock was valued normally 3 years ago. It was extremely overvalued then and it's quite overvalued now.
40 PE is cheap. Tesla is disrupting or has disrupted multiple massive global markets. Their growth runway is still multiple decades.
Disney has 70 PE and Tesla made more revenue than them

Tesla's sales are declining while the rest of the Mag7 are soaring. You can't convince people that this will turn around until it actually turns around. Which is why the stock is expensive for the company's current situation.

I'm almost all in on Tesla but you're sort of over simplifying it. Tesla was most definitely over valued at 1.2T Market Cap. So its not discounted by 60% its probably more like 25% imo.
