You can cook this same recipe and steam it nice and tender in a rice cooker and it will be done in only 1 1/2 hour instead of 8 and it will be much more tender too.

There is no substitute for low and slow in a slow cooker or smoker. High temperatures will NEVER get the same moisture and tenderness as a slow cooker.

3-3.5lb pork shoulder/butt2TBSP brown sugar, 1tsp garlic powder, mustard powder, 3tsp coarse black pepper, 1TBSP kosher salt, smoked paprika, 3 TBSP smoked paprika OR regular paprika+ 1tsp liquid smoke
Cut roast into pieces, rub with spices, add 1 cup chicken stock, white wine, Jack Daniels, coke, root beer etc. slow cooker on low 6-8 hrs depending on size
