As you said this song has tension and drama because it is a lie depicted well by Sunil Dutt, Kishore Kumar and the garage band till Saira Banu and her friend catch them. I first heard this song in 1968 on Vivid Bharati. I sang and played it on guitar 16 years later. I still play it 50 years later. I play diminished chord at second pyar instead of F#maj7. Thanks Arun for keeping Kishoreda and RBD alive for the current digital-recording generation.

Please let me know what dim chord you have been playing, would like to check how it sounds. Yes, most of the songs from that movie are not straight forward to compose and have multiple complexities. Main Chali has key changes twice in the song and eventually all 12 major chords have been used at one point or the other in that song. Vivid bharati was the only master source of info during those times and they had 100% collection of all released songs. We didn’t have any easy way to record the songs from the radio but Bela ke phool, manchahe geet etc used to play very nice songs. We got brilliant music from excellent singers, genius music directors, intelligent lyricists and terrific musicians🙏
