RIO PARANA SS was a 4,015grt, British Merchantship built in 1902 by Irvine, Harbour Dock, England as the Persiana SS for the British Maritime Trust Ltd. (Furness Withy), West Hartlepool. In 1914 she was renamed RIO PARANA SS when acquired by Petersen & Co. On the 24th February 1915 when 4 miles Se from Beachy Head she was torpedoed without warning and sunk by German submarine U-8.
