The awesome thing about dark souls 1 and 2 is that the story of the game resembles the gameplay. You start as a hopeless undead, nothing driving you forward apart from the shining light of a bonfire, being slaughtered endlessly, again and again and again and again. But as the time goes on, you becomes determined to break the chain, to break the curse, and so you plough on forward, taking in anything in your way and beginning to recognising their own pattern, breaking it and thus, them. Eventually you come to the end, to restart the chain or to turn your back and abandon everything. To be hopeless and frail, or brave and strong. That is the choice in this rpg genre. Push forward or not? That's why it's fucking awesome.
