I'm embarrassed to admit I've owned my Rancilio Silvia for almost 3 years now, and never knew about this technique. Thank you so much for the clear demo. Much appreciated! Enlightened in Canada...
Awesome tip, would have never thought to use the stream wand. Heck, you should even remake this video into a short and it could go viral. Otherwise, this was very informative
Great video until 4:39...volume WAY TOO LOUD and completely unnecessary. Otherwise very helpful. i'm guessing your extractions would be even better with a quick WDT. Cheers.
It's amazing to me that in 2023 Rancilio and Gaggia sell $500 plus machines with 80s tech and don't even include a $50 chinese made PID to regulate temp. Plus I believe the Rancilio uses an aluminum boiler which raises health concerns
Yes, i still have a rancilio, actually a v6. It makes extremely good tasting espresso, and the workflow is very simple. The Rancilio has brass boiler and copper tubing, nothing to worry about. That’s why I would never go for the Gaggia classic pro as it has aluminum boiler. The safest option is stainless steel, but not many use this, because of galvanic corrosion due to different metals combined
@@tagheuer02 no, I’m using it stock, works very good as designed. I like the heat fluctuation, really gives a good flush when it’s boiling, and keeps the machine very hot 😀
It can help lower the the pressure, some kind of pressure profiling. Or simply if you want to wet the puck before full pressure hits it. 😊 It can be useful when you deal with channeling or lighter roasts 😊

So happy to hear it was useful to you ☺️
Skip to 5:04 for the preinfusion

Genius. The steam wand is the poor man's paddle

@paviaaPS3 thanks for clarifying, gaggia is no good. Did you add a PID

Love the machine ❤️
Thank you, love it myself, very reliable machine, brews the best shots of espresso at a fraction of the price of a “more professional” machine
How do you do to warm up a Silvia model E for so long? It has an auto turn off feature after 30min.
Indeed it has auto shut off, and therefore I’m always reactivating it 🥲
Very interesting, but how does one "pre-infuse" with a PID that doesn't have preinfusion on this machine?
It is same procedure, open steam valve and close at your liking 😊. There should be no difference 🙌
How much coffee (grams) do you use for a standard Rancilio double basket?
Standard about 15 grams. Ims double about 18 grams
Any advice on Rancilio Silvia PRO?
Unfortunately, this feature is only available on a single boiler machine 😕
God damn it totally works, I can grind even finer now
Glad to hear i could help 😀
You need to fit a pid really otherwise your just guessing
Yes i Will male a video about temp surf, it’s not Guessing it’s technique 😊
Hey what weighing scale is that?
It weighs 1/100 grams
And is called “by Ditte Julie spice weight”
Danke
Why are you doing the steam wand thing? Why though?
It can help lower the the pressure, some kind of pressure profiling. Or simply if you want to wet the puck before full pressure hits it. 😊

Warm-up ... over 2 hours. Really?
I like it well warmed up.
Sometimes it idles for 3-4 hours before I use it 😀
