My only complaint with this game (and Doomlings) is that it's made so many other card games boring because of the variety in the cards. Sure, there are only so many card types, but the fact that every hero/magic/item card has a different effect makes it so almost every card in the deck is unique. Unlike a game like Exploding Kittens which has like 7 or 8 card types and multiple copies of each that do the exact same thing.
I couldn’t agree with you more! Here To Slay went above and beyond what most card games are doing right now. I need to get around to actually playing Doomlings. I’ve got it on my shelf, but I haven’t committed to a game of it yet. Which one do you prefer: Here To Slay or Doomlings?
@@gameswithdenverjames As much as I love this game, I think Doomlings is even better. The variety in cards is even more extreme, and there are more opportunities to plan 2 or 3 turns ahead if you get the right combination of cards, as well as holding onto cards for much longer and waiting for just the right moment to play them. Pull it off that shelf and play it the first chance you get! You won't be disappointed.
Doomlings is what got me into looking more into modern board games and party games. Me and my friends love it and I've started buying some other games that we've all loved and I'm making more time to hang out with my friends again and having games nights more often now
You’ve got me pumped to play it! I’ll be doing a full play-through this week, followed by a review at the start of the new year. I’m super excited to be able to explore it!
Yeah but also too many cards means, sometimes you have terrible cards, and other player just solos the game (happened to me many times). We had no challenges/modifiers, and 1st player get out 2 heroes, and killed 3 monsters in 3 rounds, and it was GG. I would preffer smaller like in Exploding kittens.
Thanks for sharing that unique perspective on the game! It’s definitely a game that can appeal to a very wide audience. Take care and have a great day!🙌🏼🙏🏼
I personally haven’t gotten around to playing with it, although I do own it! It appears to be more objective based, which is great, but it adds another layer of difficulty when trying to introduce the game to newcomers. I’d love to play with it one of these days tho.
I might be doing something wrong here, but it seems to me that winning the game by slaying three monsters is a lot easier than winning it by having a full party. I don't get how would anyone try and go that way. I also read online to my surprise that a lot of people were "complaining" that they were always winning by completing the party and never the other way around... What am I missing? Are me and my friends just too lucky with the dices? 😅
Haha! First off, I can definitely relate to what you’re saying. My friends and I almost always win by slaying monsters, because we’re always destroying each other’s heroes. That said, I can see how it depends on the group you’re playing with. The strategy of the game changes quite a bit depending on how you try to win. If everyone at the table is big on sabotage (like my group), then slaying monsters is much easier compared to gaining classes (which always turns into a blood bath). Take care and hopefully this helps!
In 1vs1 it is much easier to win by completing the team, in multiplayer it is generally easier to kill 3 monsters because no one can stop you from doing it, in the same turn you can place 2 heroes and attack the weakest monster, with a buff you will beat it while the other players are worried about fighting and killing the opponents' heroes.
Hey thanks for sharing that! That really encourages me. I love getting to do this and to be a part of this community of game players. Hopefully the videos are worth the wait!
I totally respect that! While I’m a huge fan of the game, I’ll also admit that it has a very specific gameplay style that isn’t for everyone. I’ve seen a similar reaction from people with Exploding Kittens (of which I’m also a huge fan). A lot of these games tend to attract a more niche audience. What’s an example of a game that you tend to have a lot of fun with?
In terms of how many, there’s no limit! At least until you hit the right amount of Heroes/Monster cards to win the game. The types of cards that you can have on the table are Party Leader, Hero, Monster and Item cards. Take care and hopefully this helps!
Hello! The two Here To Slay expansions are “Berserker & Necromancer” and “Warriors & Druids”. You can definitely combine all of these together! That said, once you combine them, you’ll need to collect all 10 Hero classes in order to win, either that or slay 3 Monsters. Take care and hopefully this helps!
Yess super safe, it's what I did. Comparing to only base gameplay vs with expansion. It more fun and it's not unbalance at all. Just don't use the shadow claw for 1v1. It's the only imbalance leader card
Best game ever. I bought it on a whim and for the art at arget for 20 dollars. Now I have played and affected 3 others to buy the game. And I own all the expansions. This game deserves more attention.
Yes!! I was just having a similar conversation with someone the other day. Definitely one of my top 5 all-time favorite games. Take care and thanks for sharing your love for the game!!
That’s a great question! There’s no limit to the amount of Heroes that you can deploy. In fact, you need 6 different hero classes to win the game. I think the 5 slots are all they could squeeze onto the mat. Take care and thanks for reaching out!
And concerning the negatives, I'd say they could add 3 stones or coins or anything to symbolise the 3 action points, I always forget how many points I've done 😅, Thanks
That’s a really smart idea! My friends and I are guilty of the same thing.😂😅 It’s a lot to keep track of! Especially once you start incorporating various card abilities. Hoping my IQ and memory levels up as I play the game! Lol
@@gameswithdenverjamesindeeeeed, also the heros' names are a bit hard to pronounce much less to remember, however they're adorable I can't stop playing it. could you plz review Cast shadows, I'm still hesitant about it. thank you.
Hey thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. You’ve got a great channel on your hands! Love the unique bent of content that you’re honing in on, particularly the military/medical side of things. Thanks for commenting and take care!
What I don't like about this game is that it has too many cards that are practically useless, there are many heroes whose ability is very bad and it's not worth using them, most of the items are not very useful, for example it will always be better to use a hero instead of using a mask, the counters are not very useful because they depend on a dice roll. And finally, most of the magic is not good. Another bad thing about the game is the unbalanced champions, the bard will be useful in too many dice rolls during the game while the hunter will be useful only 3 times during the whole game. The wizard and the warrior may not be used in many games, and it's even worse with the expansions, the berserk will make you draw a maximum of 4 cards during the whole game. Another problem is that when playing 1vs1 it is too easy to get all 6 classes together without the opponent being able to do anything about it, in my group of friends we solved this by adding a rule, if you get all 6 classes together you must wait for your next turn to win.
I’m sorry that you don’t enjoy it! I definitely hear what you’re saying. As you shared, I also think it helps to establish some house rules to make it more fun, especially with a game like Here To Slay, where you don’t have to break the gameplay to make adjustments. Take care and thanks for sharing!
@@gameswithdenverjames Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the game and it's one of the ones I play the most at meetings with my friends. In fact, I've played it so many times that I've ended up noticing these problems haha. I have all the expansions so there are so many cards that I leave some out to make it more entertaining.
I just dont like that most people will use the different 6 hero types route to win the game and not slay monsters which is much harder. We will modify the game to have at least 2 monsters slayed before you can win through 6 hero cards
That’s a great way to play! Slay allows for awesome house rules to be implemented. When it comes to my Slay group, we’ll typically haze a player pursuing Heroes by constantly stealing/destroying their cards. It’s brutal, but it’s fun. Lol

This game is amazing. My friend has a copy, it is so fun.
Additionally what leader do y’all like? The ranger is the goat in my opinion.
1:39 is the Sly Picklings card a misprint? It looks upside down.
Haha you found my Easter egg! It was a total accident. I didn’t realize until after filming that I had the card upside down the whole time. Good eye!!
One cat is in fact upside down. So he lined the pictures up rather than the cards
Well, there some party leaders required to used an action point like the thief and necromancer😅
You’re absolutely right! It’s funny that they need a restriction like that due to being so powerful.🙌🏼😂😅

Me and my friends do that a lot. I have luck with dice rolls, she has luck with draws. So it is a battle to see who gets their win con first.
