Thank you so much! My husband had a long list of to do's. With the instruction from your video my daughter and I were able to take care of this one for him and at no cost to boot!!
Thank you for this great clip! Glass part of the tailgate stopped working just after I got the car in October last year, then I realised the liftgate wasn't locking. Your instructions were so easy to follow and voila! my car now has a working tailgate again. Cheers.
I just bought a 2000 Suburban and thus is exactly what's happening to me. Thank you for you very detailed and informative video. I will subscribe to you for future adventures with my Suburban.
OUTSTANDING VIDEO. It took me 20 minutes to place the swing arm back in place. I lubed all moving parts with a graphite grease. I did find 2 bolts holding the plate to the door, tighten to 5 foot pounds no more fearing the bolt going into the housing will strip..
Thank you so much for this video. I literally fixed mine in less than 10 minutes. So you guys know the actuator shown in the video this the fixed state.
I am having the same issue with my 2002 GMC Denali. Thank you so much for this video. I hope I have the same problem as you had and not have to buy parts.
did exact same thing and works great! every other forum said i needed acuators and other things to buy. what you did is what chevrolet charges $300 to do. i did mine in less than an hour. thanks alot for sharing!
Thank you so much for this video. I have the exact same problem in my 2000 suburban. I also was able to hear the mechanism working, and wondered what was going on inside. The engines in these trucks last forever. I love my suburban, but there are minor issues like this that need to be fixed, and I can barely make ends meat as it is. Last week my alarm went off late at night and someone was out rummaging through my stuff. I have nothing, so they got nothing. But thanks again for the solution!
Just got a 2005 denali, the back tail gate doesn't have a key hole to manually lock the gate ,dont have a key fob at the moment either, guess I'm gonna have to take the panel off!
I have to do this all the time. The two piece shaft ok n this mechanism keeps coming apart which causes the misalignment. Ho do I stop them from coming apart
My actuator works opposite with the FOB. It locks in the unlock position and visa versa. I installed it the only possible way it could go. What could be wrong?
So, my experience , if anyone still has issues... although the guy didn’t show what his issue was, my lift gate easily unlocks/locks but the button to my window doesn’t open or anything. I did what the video showed me too do... I hit the lock/unlock button to see where it gets stuck at... to my surprise, a bent hook thingy was pinched . ... probably from previous owner from pushing back in the plastics too hard, but used a flat head, opened it back up, and it now works! I may need an actuator since if I unlock the doors it makes a rattle sound right there too
I have this problem on my 2006 GMC Yukon. Your video is VERY helpful. But there is still just one thing I need to learn, I think. At time marker 2:45 in your video, you show a little bit about what was wrong with the alignment, but there is no explanation of what you did to fix it. Mine looks the same way. I'm wondering if I need to spend $77 for a new actuator (I don't hear any clicking when using the power locks button -- and the fuse is fine), or if there is some other masterful hint which you could give me? Thank you very much! Excellent work!
I’ve had this issue with my 2002 Z71 Tahoe and the fix works but only temporarily. Any suggestions on long term fix? I’m not sure why it continues to be misaligned but I can easily stick my hand in there to fix without removing all that paneling.
I have a 05 escalade i have this problem but cant open the door. I did open the glass and pushed in the lock with my finger and now i cannot close the glass. So is there a way to open the door without lifting it open
I have a 2006 Cadillac Escalade and the actuator broke with the door locked. Any idea how to manually unlock it so I can open the window and door to remove the interior panel?
I figured out how to open my truck tailgate from the inside I move the lock switch from the inside and it stays open then I go around and I can open it up from the outside with no problem, once I press the remote to lock my liftgate don’t open again I have to go back inside and open it up manually, do you think is the motor or it’s an alignment?
I have a 2002 Yukon XL 4x4.. exactly the same problem..I wonder if he has the addition problem? 2nd rear seat access to the 3rd row.. second seat has a lever that flips the seat forward and slides the seat forward also..cable broken
I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe which has a problem with the door jam switch which turns on the dome light when you open the door. I see no actual switch on the jam. But when I jiggle the wire bundle which goes from the door through the jam and into the front panel, it does make the light turn on. When I park and remove the key, the radio continues to play when I open the door -but it should turn off when you open the door. So I have been opening the rear door to get the radio to turn off. Can you post a video on how to fix this problem. I don't know why no one else has posted this. James
I have the same issue but it keeps popping out whenever I use the key, the fob works fine. Any ideas on what could be the issue? All the plastics seem undamaged.
what if you pushed to unlock/open back window and now it won't click back into place to shut, it's like something is stopping it? First time this has happened
Hello, my 2006 Yukon XL remote unlocks all of the doors but does NOT unlock my rear hatch and door. I can't even hear the clicking sound for the hatch. I can only hear it on all of the other doors (driver, passenger, etc...). My question is, how do you open the rear door? There is no key hole on the window or the rear door?
Good evening I have a question my truck is a 2006 pit with my control I can only close all four doors but I cannot close the back door With my control I can only close four doors but I cannot close the back door and it stayed open whenever can I do or can you show me where the fuses are Thank you so much
My actuator works but the cable that goes from the actuator to the latch on the bottom of the door is seized. I cannot locate the cable anywhere online and not sure if they even sell them by themselves.
my lock coming from the outside is also misaligned but I cannot get it to align. I don't want to force it since actuator is made of plastic though. I see I need to turn it to the right but don't want to force it. Any ideas?
Hmm.. having a similar problem with my aunt's truck, but when she hits the unlock/lock button on the FOB, you don't hear anything in the rear, but all the doors up front work. So I'm guessing this is an actual electric problem? and not the actual actuator. Do you know by any chance the part number for it? By watching your video it looks like the piece on the left side of the actuator. Oh and it's a 2006 Chevy Suburban, but I'm pretty sure they're made the same.
a.fro80y Probably either need a new actuator or the entire locking assembly. My 04 envoy has a very similar assembly and my plastic connector parts all cracked and fell apart. It was cheaper to just buy a new assembly
a.fro80y its dirty theres a little round part at the bottom inside pop it off to the right theres the lock for the bottom unlock it by hand unlock is up might need some one pulling the handle while u push with your foot wd40 it will work good after if that dont work leave it up unlocked and look inside theres a part with a hole push it to the right or left while pushing with your foot boths ways fix your problem 100%
My husband took our Hummer H2 in to replace the hatch handle assembly. Within a month, we can't even open the hatch door. Stupid dealership said that it's unrelated to their job that cost us $400 to fix in the first place and now want us to shell out an additional $250 to "diagnose" their screwup. Really? It was working for 10+ years, they touched it and now something else is broken, in the part where they touched and "fixed." Hate dealerships. I hope this video will help me fix what those overpaid "mechanics" broke. If my sis and I can replace a window regulator, why couldn't the mechanics put pieces back together where they belong?
No matter how you turn the key the back glass doesn't open...thats because it's a push button..meaning you have to push it in or the glass latch is never released.
Hello having a problem with my 2006 denali xl. I can not operate my passenger side windows with either Main switch or passenger side switch and my seats driver and passenger are not working either. All of this happened at the sometime any suggestion. Thanks in advance.
What if there is key no hole?? I have a 2004 GMC Yukon I cannot unlock the hatch or the window the only keyhole on the car is the driver's door no keyhole anywhere else!
Well thats all well and good but if you could NOT open the rear hatch with the key OR the fob, HOW THE HECK DID YOU GET IT OPEN TO REMOVE THE PANELS !!??? This doesn't make any sense. I'm curious now !!
My 01 Hoe has the exact same problem. Doesnt lock door or unlook window and makes noise when button is pressed. I ordered an actuator on amazon for $25 just in case that is the issue. 👍

you didn't clearly point-out the mis-aligned lock position, NOR did you show how to correct the mis-aligned position of the lock mechanism. Your video does not show how to fix the problem. Why? am i supposed to send you money to see what you edited out of your video?
+ScubaFreq113 Calm down dude. Just play with the position of the metal part that moves with the key. It should line up so that when you push the button on the outside, it pops the latch for the window. There's only one way that it fits correctly. Thanks to auto resource...what an easy fix for an annoying problem.

How do you re-align lock?
as you said...."wish it was always this easy..." It was thanks to ur vid.
I have to do this all the time. The two piece shaft ok n this mechanism keeps coming apart which causes the misalignment. Ho do I stop them from coming apart
I have a 08 gmc arcadia.. I cannot open my back hatch no matter what I do.. how did you get it to open so you can work on it?
Thank you! fixed this problem right away!

How were you able to release the window when the release wouldn’t function? I need to replace mine but, I can’t get the window hatch to release.

Love your accent. You remind me of Dr Janosz from Ghostbusters 2
Accent is acceptable nowadays as more and more people are expressing themselves in English. I appreciate that.
Fixed mine thanks to you!!

Any ideas on how to open a 2005 Denali XL hatch? It has no key entrance. Closed shut.
Do you still repair gmc Yukon Denali xl lift gates??
what if you pushed to unlock/open back window and now it won't click back into place to shut, it's like something is stopping it? First time this has happened

How do you manually open the door since it won't unlock?
In this case you have to remove door panel to get to lock mechanism from inside…..
