my wife and I saw him live at the Kitsap Mall in 2000, we were shopping and heard this awesome music and went and stood in awe until he was finished. We bought this cd. We pulled it out of our cd album tonight.....listened to it....were reignited....jumped online to see what he is up to now................. :(
Unfortunately Dax got back on drugs and that's what took him. He was one rare talent and a kind man. He used to play in the Vancouver mall sometimes and I worked there and was just taken aback at his raw talent. I handed him my music and the next day he said he honestly loved it and gave me Merciful Dwelling. The song Rain changed my life. RIP Christopher Dax Johnson
He is truly amazing... God... Why did such a brilliant man have to go so soon... I truly look up to him with the utter most respect, I love his music and everything about it. R.I.P Dax Johnson
and saw that he's up to play the piano up there... I listen to this after quite a long time... And feel a nostalgic wave... How is it possible that even a good memory, full of nice events, etc., can hurt? (actually in my memory there's only one day of happiness, but still... Every memory hurts me... )
And what is more, it makes me full of really exotic feelings... Listening it and reading comments to this... This song has really the might to force me to look into my heart. To think... To dream... When I listen to this, I am full of happiness, but full of sadness. I am sad tat I didn´t know him before year 2010. (But still it was too soon and this video did not exist) I would have bought his albums, but... In Czech republic, there is no way I can buy them.
I had to pay a lot of money to obtain his CDs back in 2010. But, you can download his music if you, youngsters, know how to do it. I know how to play an 8-track and an LP but that's about it; digital blows my mind.
@luckyhmongkey i realsed him when i was looking up piano instrumentals then i saw he was amazing. not many people appreciate the greatness of a simple piano and a great pianist.
@checko5555 Yea, but I also read somewhere that Dax Johnson does crazy things like that. so I'm wondering if he's doing that right here. it sounds really cool.
Dax did not write music as he could not read it--very well. He learned how to play by ear. He spent only 10 minutes of piano lessons with his aunt and cut it off, he was too anxious to play. He took off on his on.
@GiZzGORE That´s right... But sad... He is good. And i can´t even see something written on Wikipedia. Very sad. But... There´s nothing to think about, he is dead and the majority of this generation doesn´t even know that he lived... He died quite young and his music is hard to come by. (And sheet music as well) And if there wouldn´t be a video on TH-cam, I would have never known about him as well. (I´m 15 years old, so I think I can talk about this generation) But no matter what, he was good. ♥
He incurred an overdose on the streets of LA, not the hospital but, he did die in the hospital or so it has been reported. Edit: Unfortunately, I have lost all of my research conducted on Dax back in June 2010 and a little more thereafter due to a computer glich (me) but, here's what I learned and/or believe. Dax lived in the Oregon/Washington (states) areas and administered a problem (Cannot go into it right now, too involved.) he had by using street drugs. (He was an "artist" who had no medical coverage, no national health care existed then ... nor now.) Marijuana, BROWN heroin, and perhaps other drugs, were, I think, his choices to deal with his medical problem. In Los Angeles, WHITE heroin (a more pure form of heroin) was sold and during one of his visits there he must have purchased WHITE heroin, something he wasn't used to. He collapesed on a street sidewalk or alley (I don't know really where.) and was transported by EMS to a "free" hospital where he died. I'm sure that the doctors and nurses saw only a disheveled, long-haired "hippy" not knowing that what they had was a beautiful human being who produced some of the most beautiful music I have listened to. His death was a great loss, at least, to me and, I am sure, to many others. Visit Wikipedia and look at "Heroin" and follow the link: Society and culture -> Economics -> Heroin grades.

Probably because it is outside of you power to go back and relive those memories. I understand all too well how much that can hurt.
How does this not have more views?

Epic Version... Awesome !!!!! i Love Canon... Pachelbel for the World ;)

I noticed it bears a few resemblances to a few more of his works, notably "A Moment in the Life of Me"... Great job, RIP :(

@checko5555 yea you're right. i wish I knew how great he was when he was alive. I only found out about him after he died.

@luckyhmongkey its a shame hes dead. he was amazing :( i dont think enough people realised his talent
He had his drug problems, but it was an accidental overdose while he was in the hospital that killed him. :(

is playing the piano strings with a guitar pick at 3:15?
#Foryou Lalo
If only somebody could teach me how to play this on the piano... :(
Why isn't he famous?
He is. Where have you been?
At 2:13 I realised which song it was xD
Which means he buried the Canon with himself? I am searching for sheet music... and can't find it anywhere :(

@luckyhmongkey i second that. at last a utube discussion where people are agreeing. no arguments 4 once :)
canon or cannon?
@luckyhmongkey :)
